NAV Retrofit

I have a 2013 frs with the pioneer head unit. Has the maps button. Found a guy with a 2013 BRZ he is parting out. Want to make sure I get all the parts. I'll need the Navi module itself, the nav SD card and then the in dash antenna. Is there anything else I need ?

bra radio navi is built in. u just need the SD card and the in dash antenna (the one from the 14-15 FRS works). that is actually my setup in my 13 FRS. or u can pick up the BRZ antenna on eBay for under $40

From @SVXdc in this post:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94981

The FR-S HU sends power to the car's antenna booster amplifier via the separate single-conductor wire on the AM/FM antenna connector.

The BRZ HU sends the 12V power antenna signal out via pin #8 on the 10-pin power/speaker harness.

You'll need to rig up an adapter harness (or at least, add a jumper wire from the vacant slot on your car's 10-pin plug to the factory pin/wire on your car's AM/FM antenna plug.

You're better off doing what I did if you have an FR-S and getting a 2012-2014 prius V navigation module and hooking it up to the FR-S head unit, much less work and it's plug and play

Do you have part numbers for the prius items. This guy was selling me the Indash antenna. The navigation module that sits in the dash next to the radio and the SD card for $100.

It's not worth it for shoddy radio reception, my entire navigation upgrade with entune was under $300:

I always use Bluetooth with my phone so I have no issues with the stock radio.

Exactly, you're upgrading the stock radio with this module to get navigation, that doesn't have bad radio reception and require a rewire to get the antenna amplifier to work

I agree. I only did it bc my scion one's touchscreen touch sensor went bad, so figured why not try something new

But I'm saying I'm completely ok with the frs stuff so if I can buy what I need from this brz for $100 then I'll be happy with navigation. Just want to make sure I get all the parts.

Brz uses an ad card and I dash antenna for nav

Frs uses an addon module with harness to the radio and an in dash antenna for nav

Only interchangeable piece is the antenna dude

Worstenemy453 03-07-2016 10:15 AM

So I would either need to buy the whole radio and everything or find an frs with nav to take the parts.
