So here's my 2016 WRB BRZ premium. My early mid-life crisis car for me. Bought it as an early xmas present to myself... I was researching a long time for a new car, approximately 2 years. Mainly debating between a new FRS/BRZ, BMW 2series/3series, Merc CLA250, and Mustang. The CLA250 was easily ruled out on the first test drive. BMW was great, technologically perfect, great performance, but a little numb. Mustang is pretty cool but too big for what I was looking for, and mainly all about straight line performance. But the FRS, one drive in the FRS was all it took. Had some reservations about the interior styling and price for what you got. But once behind the wheel and taking the first few corners, all imperfections were forgotten and it was all smiles. Then I saw the WRB BRZ in person and I was sold... essentially an FRS with a mouth guard instead of fangs. Lol.

This is the premium trim. Interior already has blacked out trim pieces by default (except for shifter trim and steering wheel trim).And no spoiler, which means no trunk holes! I can add any spoiler I want without having to worry about covering all the stock spoiler holes. Manual AC controls, which is fine, and reverse camera came stock. Didn't think I'd need it after 20+ years of driving without a reverse cam, but it's great. Makes parking so much easier. Haha.

Ordered a few things that first week of ownership... First thing ordered was my Grimmspeed license plate relocation kit. Waiting for my plates to come in to install it.

Next thing ordered was my DAMD 86 Vantage leather seat covers and my Raceseng Ashiko shift knob and reverse lockout. The shift knob and r-lock arrived first...

The Raceseng knob and r-lock are awesome. Nice quality and feel. Shifting feel totally changed with this knob.

The DAMD vantage leather seat covers arrived from Japan next. They're are totally awesome. Worth every penny. Interior is transformed and looks much more upscale yet still sporty.

Next was to tint my car because Hawaii. Sun all year long and everywhere! Lol. The heat rejection qualities of the tint are like night and day.

And coming up next, Operation Blue Carbon... Gonna install my blue carbon steering wheel and blue carbon steering wheel replacement trim next... Blue carbon was something I never saw on a western build but would see in some Japanese builds. Can't wait...

Great mod. Shipped straight from Japan and nowhere near the price any US shops had for any of the aftermarket steering wheels that retain the factory airbag, especially with any carbon in it. I couldn't even find any US shops that had any blue carbon steering wheel. The only other option US shops had that wasn't black carbon was red carbon. FYI, wayyyyy more color options for everything in Japan.

Steering feel is amazing. More thickness and edges make turning much easier and much more fun than it already was. So not only is turning fun in the car, but the tactile feel of the steering wheel in hand is awesome too now.

Next up was some head pillows and seat belt shoulder pads for the passenger side. Asian style baby! FYI, I am Asian, lol. Wifey's head is now protected from enthusiastic shifting. Haha. And Doraemon because f'in Doraemon is old school awesome.

Rati Armster 2 installed. A little late in keeping my build updated. Lol. Wanted an armrest and also wanted an enclosed storage space. Enter the Armster 2 armrest. Also able to flip back and out of the way for enthusiastic driving needing critical shifts.

I had an issue though with my shoe/foot placement and these mats. The lip at the edges of the mat, while nice looking, pushed my foot over to the left just enough to make it uncomfortable on my knee when I'm on the gas (normally the edge of my heel is up against the edge of the footwell). So, took a blade to the edge and sliced off that damn edge...

Much much better now... We don't have snow where I'm at and no drinks allowed in the car so no need for major liquid puddling/spillage protection from that raised edge.

Overall impressions, not bad. Slippery when wet though. Slipped the first time it rained and got into the car. Now I get in more carefully when it rains. Will eventually cut the portion covering the dead pedal. Doesn't snow here so floor mats won't ever get soaked. Rear floor mats are fine but nobody wits back there anyways. Lol.

How do you like those leather seat covers during the summer? Do they get hot and sticky or are they pretty breathable?

I have been looking for a blue carbon steering wheel for awhile. Thanks For the post! Looks good! Look forward to more updates.

Never had them in summer yet as I just got my car his past winter but in Hawaii weather it's about as hot and breathable as the Wet Okole neoprene seats in my other car. Not sure about sticky as I've never had bare skin against it. Lol.

Thanks dude. Yeah I wish there were more examples of blue carbon stuff, but I guess that just makes having blue carbon accents more rare to have. 👍🏼👍🏼

Joying Android kit kat 4.4.4 head unit installed. Stock bezel fits over it with gaps. I'll be getting a better fitting head unit cover eventually, most likely something carbon fiber.

Microphone is temporarily attached in front of the steering wheel. That location seems fine, so I'll just have to route the wires more discreetly.

Eventually wired up the head unit for the door speakers. 2016 BRZ harnesses aren't exactly plug and play with this head unit right out of the box and instructions on the forums are pretty confusing as the FRS uses a different workaround from the 2016 BRZ. And as far as I could tell the 2016 BRZ wiring workaround is also different from pre-2016 BRZ's... I used an empty 28-pin harness (harvested from an AX-TOY28SWC adapter I stripped) to connect to my 2016 BRZ's 28pin connector and pinned position 9 with the head unit's amp turn on wire (orange wire labeled amp and coming out of the head unit). Door speakers work fine after that.

Debating if I wanna wire in my stock reverse camera. I've noticed I can reverse better and faster without it. Lol.

Been looking for some aluminum A/C vent knob covers. Kept coming up with the same pics of knurled grip aluminum covers online but didn't like that knurled grip look. Saw some decent looking ones online but only for the automatic climate control knobs, oh well. Visited Super Autobacs in Japan the other week and came across these Revolution Motoring Communications aluminum covers. Different than what I normally see online, so I had to pick them up.

The covers match the blue lighting on the head unit, so that's nice. Head unit's illumination lights are color changeable. I like blue or red in my lights, so blue it is for now.

It might be due to yer Dr Martens?

Not making a point, just saying. And not really mentioning the bleeding obvious directly.

Lol. Yeah those wide soles didn't help. But I can't give up my Dr Martens! They're the most durable shoes I've ever bought! It's the only brand I buy now (except for exercise shoes). And Asian style. Lol. :party0030:
