Fender rolling?
 

Anyone know of someone to roll fenders, preferably around Bellevue? I have my stance coils in the garage waiting to be put on. Also, how low do you think I could go on 18x8.5 +38 offset on 245/40/18 tires?

I have stance coils on 18x8.5+45 with 235/40 tires and I didn't have to roll my fenders. My car is pretty low. But I don't recall how low I lowered it.

I own an Eastwood fender roller. Never done it for an 86 before but you can rent it from me and do it yourself.

That extra 7mm makes a pretty big difference though.


I should also clarify I don't charge for it just need a deposit so I know I'll get it back. Or I can walk you through it I guess if there's a sunny weekend coming up sometime. Fender rolling is so easy no one should ever pay people to do it for them.

I'm running 18x8.5 +35 and I'm lowered about 1.75 inches no need to roll the fenders unless you are going stance

Ride height is hit or miss and you should plan to be playing with it a bit to get it where you like and what matches the type of driving you plan to do.

I don't think you'll need to roll your fenders with that setup. I'm running 18x9.5 +35 with 235/40 lowered about 1.8-2 inches and it rubs on the plastic tab in the rear only under really heavy compression. Even then, the rubbing has mostly disappeared since it's worn itself down.

As for how low you could probably go, you can probably go until your tires hit the inner fender well. Just keep in mind that the spring rate for the stance coilovers is somewhat soft at 6k f/r. And also keep in mind that you'll likely need rear lcas if you're planning on going max low as the camber wear in the rear will get real bad, real quick.

What rate should I use? I want a nice ride that is close to stock. I'm not going mad low. Just like 1.5-2 inches

You can only change the spring rate by buying new springs - such as Swift. You'll be fine with 1.5-2 inch drop on your current spring rate.

So since they are coils and not springs, you don't change it?

Your spring rate isn't something that you can change, it's the amount of weight it takes for the spring to compress. You can buy different springs and put them on your coils, though.

you do realize that your coil-overs have springs on them, and you can change these springs to get a different spring rate. ;) however a change in spring rate will require you to change the dampening setting on the struts to find the right ride softness/stiffness.

to your original questions, you shouldn't need to roll your fenders with your current wheels.

I know they have springs, but I meant springs alone. I just hear a lot of people saying I'm running such and such spring rate. I want to make sure I do this correctly so I don't ruin my car. Do it right or do it twice.

well you've already bought your coils so are you ready to buy it twice?

i'd strongly suggest you do some research so you can get the best setup for your needs. however i know you're more about the stance and look than you are performance so i say slam the shit out of it and just accept that the ride won't be that great.
