Insurance Premium

Probably not warranted of a new thread.

but, i have Geico Auto insurance and just noticed when it renewed my insurance, my premium went up 200 dollars. 25 of age , no accidents or tickets what gives :sigh: can you rookies stop crashing your car.

anybody else go up?

Kiske 01-30-2016 03:36 PM

Your welcome!

$200? Mine went up $20.00 when I paid in december (6mo...)

Jfheisenberg 01-30-2016 05:10 PM

Mine its Geico $181 per month for full cover. I have two points in my insurance that will go away end of this year.

TofuJoe 01-30-2016 09:05 PM

My Geico policy went up $200 this year. I shopped around and ended up switching to AAA which was the same price as I was paying before. Bye bye lizard!

Mine is $150 a month full coverage through AAA/Progressive. Currently have a few safe driver discounts, and it'll drop again when I turn 25 later this year.

It doesn't matter what our insurance are or how they go up or down.

We don't live in the same town as you and we don't have all equivalent records and personal information.

You guys are going to hate me, but.......

My monthly went up near enough to 60 dollars (US) a month as not to matter. Of course I have good driver, multicar, and another discount that I can't remember. I'm paying right around 163 for full coverage on two cars, a 2016 BRZ and a 2008 Tacoma.

edit: No accidents ever since I've been driving, had a speeding ticket well over 15 years ago (that's long dropped off the record) and that's it.

I pay $500/month hahaha!! 22 years old and 1 speeding ticket the will expire this year

So many things go into your rate. I work in the industry.

age
sex
marital status
where you live (this is a major contributing factor)
credit history
claim history
motor vehicle history (violations/tickets)
mileage driven (daily/annually)

Plus each company has their own rating system so comparing one company to the next isn't feasible.

I don't have a twin, but thinking of potentially buying one, I recently run a quote on Geico website (I have my current car insured with them) and apparently it would be $650/6 months to insure a new FRS for me.

By a chance how old are you?

Not 22, obviously. Multiply by two and you will be very close.

Also, quite unexplicably ;-) I have had only one speeding ticket 7 or 8 years ago, plus one speed camera ticket maybe 5 years ago, and none of these seemed to affect my insurance AFAIR.

Brayden_23 01-30-2016 11:28 PM

Just for comparison sake, I will chime in here.

I am 22 and my monthly payment is only ~$60. Granted I don't have full coverage (probably will upgrade soon) which is probably why it's so low. I also have USAA who give me discounts for pretty much everything (legacy discount, safe driver discount, good student discount, good looking discount... :bellyroll:)

My premiums haven't increased at all either. I had a hunch that buying a "sports car" would be a little more expensive to insure, so even if my rate goes up I really can't complain. This car really attracts that age group (my age group) who buy this car because it looks great and we need to show off how absolutely friggin awesome it is even though we haven't quite honed our hooning skills just yet. I think we all knew this going in so as sucky as it is, it seems like it will be a fact of owning this car.
