Timing cover slow leak, aftermarket solution and supercharger effect to this area?
It was fixed under warranty the first time but noticed it's leaking again. I'm hoping they'll fix it again and it'll be good but in case it leaks a third time. Are there any aftermarket solutions to this? I don't want to rebuild the engine but do they make an aftermarket cover replacement?
The leak is so slow that I don't even pick it up from the oil dip stick but I would like to keep the car for a long time with plans to supercharge it. If supercharging, I've read that this area is not a pressurjzed area and would just be subjected to increased heat. Would a supercharger greatly exacerbate the leak? |
Use RTV gasket when putting it back together(dunno name brand). Otherwise, let it leak? Supercharger shouldn't affect it

I'd like to get this fixed under warranty again, so hopefully whatever they're using is of the same quality as what you've mentioned.
Supercharging would increase the Temps I'd imagine, so I would plan for an oil cooler and look into higher quality coolant as well. As long as the leak isn't worsened by supercharging, I'd be okay going underneath to clean it up every two months or so. |

So, the fix depends upon which one is leaking........:) humfrz |

My theory is that when some mechanics "pry" off the timing chain cover, they bugger up the soft aluminum cover and/or block, by using tools (like the crowbar in the picture). So, after they put it back together, it still leaks. :iono: humfrz |
