I took my car to get re flashed at the dealer while back last summer. When I got the car back it did the same thing. My question is does the oft tune fix that? I'm currently on stage 1 e85. Oct. I'm still getting that fluctuation on stage 1 once awhile.
Thanks

if its minor when air cond switches in/out (also runs if you use defrost) then its normal

Jonathanlim 01-20-2016 02:48 AM

It's when I'm in idle. No a/c or anything. A/c and defrost just make it worse

Should I flash to stock and take it to the dealer? (Want to avoid them if I can)

try a different brand of fuel, bad or low quality fuel can cause idle issues.

if you not getting ant CEL codes dealer probably wont look at it anyway unless its rearly bad and nearly stalling

are you same guy that just switched to E85 ?

and now you switched back to petrol ?

how much E85 was left in tank ?

did you follow proceedure here

E85 on stock car
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67310

i just looked at you E85 logs, they look fine in the leter logs, suspect you flashed E85 tune to early before getting petrol out of system.

If you did the same thing going back to petrol its going to run weird for 20km or so till it sorts itself out.

It did the same for 91 octane too. I've been using shell 91 octane since I got the car. I can try to switch brands. It's at the point where it almost shuts off the car. That's weird I waited almost 4 miles to refresh. I have 3/4 tank left. I'm going to switch back to 91 when this tank is gone. Is it safe to be on the e85 tune?

It looked fine on e85 once it sellted in all good you need to give it 10 to 20 km on switchover to settle in

I apologize as I haven't seen your other threads but did you have just your ECU reflashed or did they also do the TCU if your car is an AT?

I don't have the link offhand but there is a thread in the warranty section about MY 15s having idle dip problems that the TCU reflash fixed. I had it on mine where it would happen when idle at a light or putting the car into park but the update fixed it even when I am using the fan/defrost.

If they reflash the TCU it will also not mess with your OFT tune as that is only dealing with the ECU. I had mine reflashed with the OFT tune still on there with no problems.

Of course if you have a manual disregard this lol

Yes I have a AT. You went to the dealer for a tcu reflash?

Yep, just let them know you are having the idle dip. The service bulletin calling for the reflash is S-SB-0021-15. Some info as well as the official bulletin is in the thread below.

Here is the thread that has a link to the service bulletin. It also talks about some hard shift issues as well as the loss of throttle blip on downshift. For me the TCU update has fixed all the problems and it has been 2+ months of still working good.

I'm on oft tune. If I reflash to stock for a dealer vist and then reflash back to the oft will that work?

Tectoniic 01-22-2016 12:22 PM

Yep, no problem at all.

The dealer reflash for this service bulletin is only for the Transmission Control Unit, TCU.

OFT only affects your Engine Control Unit, ECU.

Two separate systems. If it is not an inconvenience most people recommend flashing the OFT back to stock when you go to the dealership and then reflashing afterwards but then you have to deal with it relearning the tune again. They most likely will not even be looking at the ECU anyway as the service bulletin doesn't call for it. You will most likely be fine just leaving your OFT tune on.
