Catless Headers CEL??

Hi guys, I'm planning to get a catless headers (possibly tomei uel) combined with Berk catted front pipe and a invidia n1 catback. Will the CEL light come on due to that fact that the headers are catless?

Please reply, thanks a lot!

Yeah, unless you get a proper tune.

Or an 02 spacer. (Not the best option)

Maybe not right away but it will. A tune is a definite fix. You could get an 02 spacer but they don't always work

I have not yet tuned my car and never tried a spacer and my experience is that when I had a borla el installed I would get a cel every 1000 or so miles and now I've had a JDL UEL installed for 3000+ miles and it has yet to throw a CEL and I have this hooked up to a nameless catted op/fp and q300.

Yes like said above you will 100% get a CEL.

My advise would be do not install your header until you have cash to tune. Do both at the same time.

As everyone else said you will get some code like P0420 or P0421 or something similar because of the O2 sensors after where the cat would have been reading different values than stock. A tune will disable those codes and allow "emissions readiness", and in some jurisdictions like here in buck county PA without a visual check you will pass inspection.

Do you know of any tune that would work best? Would open flash tablet work? I'm fairly new to these stuff. Or there are other tunes that you would recommend.

If your new to it go open flash table it will probably be easier for you. Do a little reading on here first. Personally I run ECU Tek

For a car with just basic mods like header oft will be fine
Device comes with free tunes for variety of mods and petrol 91 93 and e85 tunes

Its readly good if you dont have a local tuner as you flash you own tunes.

If you do have a local tuner then ecutek is about same price as you wont need the cable

See basic bolt on mods link below

Talk to the local tuner to see if pricing competitive
They should be albe to do NA tune and licience for about 600 thats for flash and go tunHave all your mods installed or talk to thner re mods

All you will need is money

Ashikabi 01-21-2016 11:18 PM

I got my tunes from Delicious. Never have to pay for dyno time, they already know what changes need made for what mods. They claim putting it on a dyno would only net a couple more horsepower
