Exhaust noise
So I have the Ptuning header but there is a sound that I suspect is coming from a specific heat shield coming from the midpipe that joins to the overpipe.
I have a video of the noise, but was wondering if anyone has taken that part off with any bad effects? https://s3.amazonaws.com/shdo-pics/pics/heat-shield.png I will upload a video of the noise in just a sec. The noise seems to go away when the engine/exhaust is warmer. |
It's prolly not the heat shield if it's a feint metallic rattle at mid rpm under load then it's normal.
|
I thought it was normal too, would that rattle be the 2nd cat?
|
So what exactly is that noise coming from? Just curious before I go digging around under the car.

I had a loose bash plate from hitting a rock.
Could be similar... Thought it was an exhaust issue, but luckily just the plate... Tightened up and all good now. |
I also had an annoying rattle. Thought it was my heat shield coming loose. Turned out it was my O2 sensors were loose. I'd check those too.
|
Ive had the same rattle for awhile now and i was thinking it had something to do with my exhaust system and the flex joints possibly. I have the uel Borla headers that have two flex joints. Then i have the HKS dual resonator front pipe and Perrin cat back non resonated exhaust which has one flex joint at the connection to the front pipe.

Wait isn't your exhaust suppose to make noise?

Exhaust noise
I took video of it. I can post it soon. Need to make sure the sound is ok. I'm pretty sure it isnt the skid plate. But more of that heat shield touching something making that noise. I triple checked the o2s when I installed cause once it's in. It's in there.

Could be the heat shield on the overpipe touching the frame. It's a little more likely than the front pipe touching something.
