TRD Rally Suspension

Has anyone tested these yet?

http://www.trdparts.jp/release/2014_...uspension.html

Read a bit on them, they're taller but softer too.
Also cheap as hell:

Mostly just about the pricing and how expensive MCA Golds are

I've yet to find out someone english speaking who had them and reviewed.
Maybe there were some reviews in japanese, but my google fu is too weak to find such.
Only thing from distantly similar things for twins that actually got tested & reviewed, were chuhatsu plus lift springs for stock shocks. As for these - nothing. After all, most twins owners target tarmac/track racing, and those few that are seriously into rally, usually are on much higher class rally suspension, that costs 5times more then these. And those in-between usually drive different cars, eg. wrx :)

If there's real interest, we would consider making a "fun" rally spring (i.e not a WRC caliber set-up). I'm hesitant, but I do think it would be extremely awesome.

RCE Rally springs
Bilstein B6
Braid or Enkei or Method wheels
Subaru/FHI 4 pot 2 pot brakes
big ol' mudflaps

This but a BRZ:

I have been thinking about this quite a bit...

Andrew: btw, what travel compared to stock B6 have? Aren't KW coilovers with more travel? As for real demand .. i doubt a bit in potential customers for low end "fun-rally" suspension gathering in large enough numbers to warrant developing of custom revalved struts for rally use. Those with really low budget probably will use low cost beaters, not yet as relatively new/costly car, those for just slight gravel/ice fun already may get something like chuhatsu lift springs or Paranoid Fabrications/Subtle Solutions/ADF lift spacers, these TRD rally coilovers or max travel feal 441, those that are really into serious rallying, will use 7-10K custom kits made by some rally suspension builder or by some well known vendors like Ohlins/Rieger or whatever that was fit in Nameless or Cusco rally twins and so on .. or maybe those serious rallying teams will get CS-V3 rally twin from get go :)

Rally still is sport i like watching most from all the motorsport kinds, but i don't thing there is business case for such kit. Too narrow niche for that :(

B6 is roughly same travel as stock. KW have more bump travel but aren't designed to be raised.

Custom valved struts would raise the cost considerably and I don't think the demand would be there to do larger production runs. The standard Bilstein B6 valving would fine IMO, plus the bonus that they are inverted monotube fronts.

That's always been the tough part for rally type suspensions for Subarus. Anyone that's going to seriously compete will spend the big bucks (as they should) but there's very little in what would be the equivalent of a simple track day set-up.

Same. Still the most exciting motorsport to me. :)

Andrew: if just lift is wished and travel of B6 is same .. these lift spacers seemed interesting product, as ones that may add also extra 1.5deg camber. Unfortunately that's alternative only to rather high stack height only, less thick then 1.5" spacers were of pass-through only type, not offset. ADF also offers trailing arm spacers.

why? 12-23-2017 05:10 AM

I'd love a suspension that lifts it a tad and yet still has better handling than stock. If i had the money I would try this trd suspension, including shipping it is under $1000.

Yeah but no extra travel with strut spacers. :)

Hmm, but isn't it strut construction, that limits droop travel (of course if magic zip ties aren't used to limit droop :) )? Am i wrong thinking that longer/bit more firm springs just move neutral point below that of with stock spring? Will in that case longer springs change full droop travel at all or just add some ground clearance lift in same way as lift spacers do?

If a spring raises the front 15mm, it adds 15 mm of bump travel and therefore subtracts 15 mm of droop travel. (assuming OEM style strut). :)

A strut spacer would just add ground clearance with no effect on travel.

Are y'all still considering this? I need a rally suspension for these garbage Hawaii roads ...and maybe to do some rally cross

I have these on order from BlackhawkJapan, will be a few months before they arrive as they have to come by sea. I will make a thread once they come in.

The information I can gather is that these are for a spec series in japan called the TRD Rally Challenge, now known as the Gazoo Racing Rally Challenge

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/r5VfMZwrXfY/hqdefault.jpg

The race series itself is primarily tarmac with some light gravel/dirt.
