Review: (How does it feel overall?) Clutch brand, model: Competition Clutch Stage 3 SC/FI/NA: SC Edelbrock MI/KM: 12,000MI or 19,312KM Power/TQ: 286/214 Lockout: Yes its a problem Stiffness: Med/Hard DD: i would say yes Would you buy again? No. fuck NO Review: Good holding power, its more of an on or off clutch. can be a little jerky. Ended up getting another tranny to sold the problem, didn't solve anything. Competition Clutch not responding. Here are some other reviews i stumbled on ACT 6 Puck HD: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26162 Clutch Masters FX400: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15850 South Bend Stage 2: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96153 Additional clutch Info: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...ghlight=clutch http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29863 Here is a DIY: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25054 (Admins let me know if this doesn't follow the rules) Thank guys! |
Clutch brand, model: South Bend Stage 2 Daily
SC/FI/NA: Cosworth Stage 2.3 SC MI/KM: 56K (21k with SC). Power/TQ: 250/200 @ wheels (according to other dynos of this kit) Lockout: No* TOB had issues, replaced with new, no problems now Stiffness: Soft/ Med. DD: Yes Would you buy again? Yes Review: it's rated at 315 ft/lbs and gets the job done for a daily driver/ weekend warrior. I'd give my recommendation for it. |
Would love to hear more experiences on this thread.. bump

Clutch: Ogura Racing Clutch (ORC) 400 Series Light - Dampened Disc
SC/T/NA: HKS V2 Supercharger MI/KM: 20k miles Power/TQ: 266wtq Lockout: No issues Stiffness: Close to OEM on other platforms -- no longer feels vague, and you can actually feel the various movements for accurate clutch input and throttle modulation DD?: 100% DD friendly with tune, lightweight flywheel can cause stalling on OEM car Would you buy again: Yes Review: This is the most ideal possible clutch for a sub 400hp car. I have driven it on the street and HARD on track days with no gripes about performance or issues. For purely track oriented NA car I would recommend the 309D Metal clutch from ORC instead but this unit has been incredible. |
This would be good thread to keep it stickied, so I'll sticky it

Has anyone used a sachs clutch before? and how does it feel?

Clutch: Southbend Stage 2 Daily, new OEM flywheel.
SC/T/NA: JDL V2, GT2860RS MI/KM: 6k miles Power/TQ: 290whp, 260wtq Lockout: No issues Stiffness: slightly stiffer than stock, you get used to it really quickly. DD?: hell yeah, its my DD. Would you buy again: in a heartbeat. Review: I love this clutch. Its a tad bit stiffer than OEM, and feels much better than the OEM clutch. there's a tiny low speed shudder but it isn't too bad. |
I'll chime in.
First aftermarket clutch: Clutch: ACT xtreme w/flywheel SB7-XTSS SC/T/NA: JRSC w/flex fuel MI/KM: 9k miles Power/TQ: 310/232 Lockout: yes Stiffness: med/hard DD?: Not DD friendly Would you buy again: no Review: had lockout and hangup issues. Light flywheel was terrible for street use;lots of shudder. Second aftermarket clutch: Clutch: Southbend Stage 2 Daily with OEM flywheel SC/T/NA: same MI/KM: about 3k miles now Power/TQ: same Lockout: No issues Stiffness: feels like OEM DD?: Yes, same as stock Would you buy again: yes Review: drives just like stock clutch. I have had no issues whatsoever so far. |
extremely useful thread!
definitely will follow up! |
any issue with resurfacing flywheel?

Clutch: ACT HD with 11.8lb flywheel
SC/T/NA: NA, stock af engine still waiting for parts MI/KM: 1.5k miles Power/TQ: probs like 160whp, again stock af. Lockout: nah Stiffness: medium, firm but very linear DD?: I DD it 2 hours a day with mixed highway and city traffic, no complaints. Would you buy again: ye Review: Clutch and flywheel combo is pretty awesome, the engagement changes slightly when you heat it up ( lots of heavy stop and go ) and it gets a lot more forgiving. When its cold the car seems to like around 2.5k when starting from a stop, when warmed up a little less at 2k ish. You can get it to move with less, it just is a little bit jerky. The biggest difference is definitely in downshifting, more on that in the review im about to post. |
Clutch: Exedy Stage 1 Organic + Exedy OEM flywheel
SC/T/NA: NA with OFT tune stage1 MI/KM: 200miles Power/TQ: 203TQ @ Wheels, 254TQ @ Flywheel Lockout: nope Stiffness: A tad bit stiffer than OEM. DD?: Yea, I drive in bay area traffic everyday no problem. Would you buy again: Yes Review: Clutch feel is better than stock. I feel more control and I can drive the car smoother than the stock one. Best part is, NO MORE SHITTY OEM TOB. |
Clutchmaster FX350
Clutch: Clutchmaster FX350
SC/T/NA: Turbo MI/KM: 3k miles or kms used Power/TQ: 320WHP/240TQ Lockout: No Stiffness: Stiffness is OE, but it jerks, and you will stall if you don't give gas. DD?: HELL No-LOTS OF CHATTER NOISE! Would you buy again: Not at all. I will avoid this at any cost. Review: Probably nice one if your car is track oriented, lighter weight too, but for daily I say 1 out of 10. Engages hard, chatter noise left and right. You will embarrass your passenger. Plus, the clutch lasted 3k miles- slipping after 2 drift event- I am a super beginner so didn't even go crazy on and took frequent break during the session. |
I would love to hear more reviews!
