Tactrix EcuFlash.

Is anybody here CURRENTLY running EcuFlash and if so in order to tune for which modifications, which software version and with what success?

Thank you.

IceMeister 08-21-2018 11:51 AM

i used romraider to modify the tune, and ecutune to read and write the tune. i am running stage 2 UEL + added pop tune.

Scala 08-21-2018 03:44 PM

Thank you. Please explain Stage 2 UEL.

IceMeister 08-21-2018 04:09 PM

stage 2 UEL can be downloaded from the OFT website with the right Ecu rom

Tactrix is a piece of hardware to connect to car ecu via obd port

Ecuflash is software used by tacrix to read and write a file \tune from the ecu it can also edit tune files

Romraider is tune editing software

Once you have read those most of your questions will be answered

Yes lots of people use tactrix\ecuflash\romraider to flash and tune thier cars

Scala 08-22-2018 10:01 AM

Thank you.

It looks like I've got some reading to do.

How about the OFT device and software updates? Other Forums for other brands report great frustration with the complete lack of support and the impossibility to communicate with the OFT people.

Yeah they seem pretty busy

But unlees you need custom tune or have some issue everyting you need for NA tunes is on thier dupport site

Their is almost no support for tactrix\ecuflash

Thank you steve99, very good of you.

This tS will see mostly track days, very little DD and my expectation from the engine is mostly in the improvement of the mid-range.

My own contribution to the project is a catted UEL header, 93 RON and a very elementary plug and play method of tuning. I could always run without the tune but I'd be foregoing the benefit of the high octane while I'd be taking risks with the AFRs.

This is the reason of my interest in the OFT but I fear that, without support from OFT, going beyond simple icon selections will be well beyond my non-existent skills.

Again, many thanks.

If you can swing the OFT tablet its nice for logging as its a compact device, powered via the car. Shiv and his company are very busy so unless you buy an e-tune or request a one time quick look at your logs for new OFT customers I am not sure what other "support" he needs to provide. Hence open source.

I would suggest OFT + an e-tune from the like of @steve99 @Tor or @Waymo

What @jflogerzi said is true, OFT is a super useful easy plug and play tuning tool that is well worth you purchasing. It's not worth getting header without a tune in my book, you're still going to get a CEL and really blowing your money away. You can easily use OFT to datalog and get the OFT guys to dial in your tune and you can details about etuning on their site, or pay @steve99 @Wayno or @Tor over paypal to do something similiar there the best guys on this forum for that stuff.

Thank you jflogerzi and FRSBRZGT86FAN

Getting the OFT was my first thought but I didn't proceed once I realised that there is limited, if any, OE support. Now that I read in your posts that there is e-tune support available I will certainly go this route.
Again, many thanks to both.

Just saw this today, if you're running NA setup, with 93 or 91 you probably won't need it dialed in much with just UELs. You can however post datalogs on the forum and someone can double check if theres any issues.

Why not get BRZ edit? That's what I use, it's decent for how cheap a personal license is. Uses Tactrix cable, essentially like any other open source tuning software. My tuner gave me a great dyno tune with UEL headers and cat delete, we're planning on using it when the car has the turbo installed.

The only real advantage of brzedit is it allows tuners to lock tunes and ecu. If i was going to spend money on a flash system other than tactrix\ecuflash or oft id go ecutek as it actually adds a lot of usefull features amd failsafes wehn going turbo, especially if you want electronic boost control
