Under the hood, the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine has been equipped with an optimized air intake, a high-flow air filter and an auxiliary oil cooler. Despite the changes, the engine's output is still rated at 200 PS (147 kW) and 205 Nm (151 lb-ft) of torque.

From the article:

This means that “officially”, the 14R60 makes 147kW (200PS) @ 7,000 and 205Nm (20.9kgf/m) @ 6,400 ~ 6,600 with a weight of 1230kg’s. I don’t necessarily believe those numbers though and neither should you.
Don't like the optical 14R60 changes, except for sharkfin antenna.

some more info, nothing new realy. also, i dont think that intake is functional, unless the scoop is behind the license plate.

Looks like they shaved 50lbs or so which seems inline with taking out the back seat, lighter wheels (but larger), carbon roof but adding the other stuff back. Also has an oil cooler and baffle plate in the sump. Lots and lots of chassis reinforcement.

Nice wheels. Hope they release that separately.

They want 60k too? You could build a much better and more capable car for less than that and still have some cash on the side for track time.

For 60K I could've bought two FR-S off the lot

from the article:
Inspired by the 86 Griffon concept, the 14R60 has an aggressive body kit that includes modified bumpers, revised side skirts and extended fender flares. The model also has canards, a carbon fiber roof and a rear diffuser.

.

This is extremely functional aero, just look at it. That said though I wish it didn't look so ugly. That's just my opinion though.

From experience i can only say why this car is soo expensive is TRD parts
6pot brembo 10k from TRD, try buying TRD seats standalone. .
and the whole roof from CF. . .
Its not actually overpriced if you like TRD JP parts then its a bloody bargain.
The car chassis has been reinforced at like 14 different points as well.
For me where i live in Australia and my BRZ cost 37k USD here its bargain for us

interesting choice of aero for this concept, I wonder if this version is to be a hardcore replacement for the current trd spec'd units out. Tho id be weird considering those trd units out now have their own aero modification already, i wonder what kind of restrictions stock car cup racing has on suspension and body mods.

Twin4Life 10-09-2014 01:36 PM

Geezuz, throw the goddamn WRX engine in this and call it a day already. For fucks sake, what is this shit? Its fucking makeup, cosmetic. Id have an 86 in my garage tomorrow if it had 80 more HP.

WingsofWar 10-09-2014 01:54 PM

FYI for anyone that doesn't know, these cars are built and sold for the purpose of cup car racing which have power and weight restrictions per class based on the specs of the production vehicle. There will likely never be a power increase in any of these future spec'd models until the production model gets a bump in power.

TLDR ~ Pay no attention to these cars, they are only for a select group of companies and enthusiasts.

Am the only one who doesnt want the car to come with FI stock in the near future? Unless the parts could be added to the existing 86 platform cars.

I like this 14R60, but I'm not a track enthusiast and wont see any real gains that this car may give, I think many people can honestly say the same.

Except for the fake bumper scoop which was a functional ram air intake on the original. That part is total rice.

Looks good. Toyota is obviously just messing around with the 86 at this point.

Quoted for truth.
