Rydeen Duo on BRZ Limited
I mounted a Rydeen Duo (ZH07-150B) in the stock rear view camera location on a BRZ Limited.
The camera http://www.ft86club.com/forums/pictu...pictureid=1863 Removed the trunk fascia http://www.ft86club.com/forums/pictu...pictureid=1864 If you look close there is an outline where the stock camera would go http://www.ft86club.com/forums/pictu...pictureid=1865 I used the supplied double stick tape as a template http://www.ft86club.com/forums/pictu...pictureid=1866 Hole drilled, camera mounted http://www.ft86club.com/forums/pictu...pictureid=1868 From the underside http://www.ft86club.com/forums/pictu...pictureid=1867 Sharing the trunk release grommet http://www.ft86club.com/forums/pictu...pictureid=1869 Getting it back together http://www.ft86club.com/forums/pictu...pictureid=1870 Final product http://www.ft86club.com/forums/pictu...pictureid=1872 Once the wire is through the trunk release grommet it is pretty simple to follow those wires through the trunk lid and in to the cargo area via the wire boot. That was all the time I had plus I was still waiting for my RCA w\pins from SVXdc which came the next day. RCA w\pins from SVXdc http://www.ft86club.com/forums/pictu...pictureid=1871 So the hard part is done. I will run the wires, get power and plug in the RCA as soon as I get a chance. Definitely happy with the look. This camera seems to be built very well. It is pretty heavy for such a small device. First time I closed the trunk I thought about where the quality of this camera will be worth the extra few bucks. Enjoy |
Looks awesome - that is definitely the way to go for a stock looking camera install. I must be blind though, I don't see the outline on the fascia where the OEM camera would've gone...:iono:

Pics of the camera picture quality? For that kind of money it should be pristine I'd hope...

Looks really good, how much was the total investment so far?

I've seen the Duo sell for around $140.
As far as cost = picture quality, for these cameras, picture quality is actually the least part of the cost. Even a $12 camera produces a great picture on our head unit. Most of the cost goes into the size and quality of the housing. A $12 camera is going to end up with moisture in it and will fail quickly. I have both a $12 camera and a $115 camera. Can't tell the difference between the video quality, but one's plastic, big, and had moisture fogging up the lens after being exposed to the elements. The other's metal, slim, and has endured rainstorms and my pressure washer without a problem. |

You did exactly what I was planning on doing with my BOYO that I'm waiting to receive from Amazon. Looks great!

Like I had mentioned, the hard part was done. Ran the power to the factory amp (+12V Accessory)
and grounded it on one of the amp bolts. Ran the video wire up the drivers side of the car (nice and neat) and under the dash to the back of the stereo. The Rydeen came with plenty of cable to reach. Plugged the pins on the RCA from SVXdc in to the 16 pin harness as per SVXdc's instructions and connected the camera. Used the lines to back in to a spot, car was dead center in the spot. No need to adjust the lines (close enough) since I put the camera where the head unit was expecting it. First green line, about 7' from the curb http://www.ft86club.com/forums/pictu...pictureid=1916 Yellow line, about 4' from the curb http://www.ft86club.com/forums/pictu...pictureid=1917 Red line, about 3' from the curb http://www.ft86club.com/forums/pictu...pictureid=1918 All in all this was not a difficult installation. Just be careful not to scratch anything when removing /re-installing the trunk fascia and be careful when you have the stereo haning out of the dash that it doesn't scratch the clock area and you should be good. |
Here is my Boyo installed (copy of your installation for the most part):
