Anyone Else? Hearters Blowing when off.
2013 BRZ Limited, Dual Climate/Digital Controls.
When digital controls are off and nothing lit up slight air movement can be felt at all times as if the controls aren't completely off. Testing. 1. Turn Car on, Heater on "HI" setting (max) then turned off. Drive for 10+ addition minutes and hot moving air can be felt from the center and driver side vents. 2. Turn Car off, then back on. Leaving the climate controlls off. Still slight hot air movement. 3. Turn climate control back on, change the setting from "HI" to 65 degrees and the fan all the way up. Turn the control off. Drive 10+ min. Still blowing cool air. Acting as if the mode door or vent isn't completely closing. It does seem to be affected by the vehicles speed. So I'm guessing it is just air moving into and through the system. Not really a issue, just a bother. |
Turn on the recirc.

It's the crickets farting.

Close vents, put temp control to all the way blue, problem solved. The car will still get warm because it is so small and the transmission and drive shaft are right next to you.
|
With the system OFF, push the RECIRC button, it still works with the system off.
This stops any and all air from blowing when the system is off. Mine blows warm air otherwise, with the system OFF and temp to cold. RECIRC ON and no air blows at all. |
yep, turn recirc on, that should stop outside air from coming in.
|
You can use this property to your advantage, too. If you're driving on the highway (~70mph), the airflow is about the same as having the fan on the lowest setting. If I'm on a road trip and it's cold outside, I'll put the windows up, leave the fan speed at "0", turn "recirc" off to let the air blow in from the outside, then I adjust the temperature control knob until it's comfortable.

My last 5 vehicles including this one "leak" air out the vents even when all knobs are OFF, but recirculate is NOT on...this is normal.
What isn't normal(for any vehicle I've owned over the last 24 years, all Hondas), is the air being warmer than it should be regardless of where the temp setting is. This is just poor design and found in numerous other vehicle brands, but not all. |
