Oops (Secondary O2)
 

Well, I fucked up while removing my stock headers by forgetting that I had a secondary O2 sensor. As I was trying to lower the headers, I felt binding on the passenger side, but it was too late. I scratched some of the wire shielding off, right at the sensor.

It's killing me because all of the wire is intact, it's just some shielding that's broken. I know this is an important part, and especially being mid-turbo install, I don't want to half-ass things. I just find it hard to accept that I need a new one, knowing that this one will function fine (for now). Moisture will be introduced eventually (I live in MD), and that is the concern.

I'm toying with the thought of covering it in Permatex Copper sealant. Good to 700 degrees and non-conductive. But, I also don't want to be cheap and half-ass something before a $1000 dyno session.

it is not important specially if you go turbo, it gets disabled
it s not even a real widerange sensor, just disable it on tune and you can even remove it 16

Honestly that doesn't look that bad. I see the insulation is cut but is the actual conductor knicked? Even then, it looks like some simple 3M electrical tape would fix it. Wrap the individual wires, then wrap them all together as a bundle. And as an extra measure against the elements you can get some flexible plastic conduit and trim a piece to fit. (It's slotted so it can just slip over the wires).
I would've said heatshrink but the size you need would require you lopping off one of the ends and reterminating. So, nah.

I guess I hadn't really thought about it, but with no cats, the secondary O2 is pretty useless. Still going to install it and let the tuner know I screwed it up, but I agree. Thanks!

you can put some liquid electrical tape on it, then wrap it in more tape.

Didn't know liquid electrical tape existed, but that's really good to know. After looking up the heat rating, 275 degrees might not be enough for an exhaust.
