Does Subaru paint the FRS?
Since the paint code's are the same for both BRZ and FRS, is it fair to assume Subaru paint's both these cars? Or does Toyota paint the FRS?

They all come from the same Subaru Gunma factory in Japan. The only difference are the lava ones get the Toyota/Scion branding/seats/headlights and the WR Blue Pearl ones get the Subaru branding/seats/headlights. |
Yes.

Interesting. I did not know this.

They are literally the same car made at the same time right down to much of the unused wiring still being installed. They only become each of the 15(?) different worldwide models when the different parts are slapped on at various different operations stations. They don't make separate runs for each version. Could be BRZ, FRS, GT86, GT86, FRS, FT86, BRZ, BRZ, BRZ, GT86 and so on going down the line all at the same time.

And ... If you get down to the real nitty gritty you are driving just a little bit of a Mitsubishi as well. (If we are calling out parts) |

The cars are virtually identical, paint comes from the same place, built and painted by the same robots. The only thing that separates the cars are the minor differences (Subaru doesn't use Toyota's red/black seat covers, the logos & badges, Subaru cars have a different front bumper skin and head/fog lights, the suspension is the same now I think). You'll also never see a WRB Toyota/Scion just like you'll never see a Yuzu, Silver Ignition, or Hot Lava BRZ. |
Oh, right I know the differences overall but it seemed like how you said it, that JUST the lava colored ones and the world rally blue ones had some seat/headlight differences.

The 86 is a series of sports cars jointly developed by Toyota and Subaru. As for the Subaru owners please it's a Toyota design get off your high horse thinking you have the better car of the two. Same car yes and no. All of the 86 cars have different parts/ trim levels. Toyota design the car long before Subaru became a partner with the FT86 project. Subaru makes the car and with that said Toyota owns part of Fuji Heavy Industries.
