The just checking in everything is good thread
Hey guys. So I am sick of reading about all the issues everyone has and I feel it gives a bad name to the car. People will come on here and be all like "whoaa look at all these problems people have" and I know that people having issues are only a very very small percentage so I want everyone else who is enjoying their car to take a moment and let us know how it is treating you.
I will go first: My car is at 48xxx Km's and I have had it for about 3 years or so (bought it new). I love it and haven't really had any major issues at all even though I have gotten big into the aftermarket scene. I think my choice to buy only quality parts has help prevent any major issues. I will continue to enjoy this amazing car for years to come. |
I've got this many miles on my BRZ as of last week...
https://scontent.ford1-1.fna.fbcdn.n...55221028_o.jpg ...and the only minor mechanical issue I had since I bought that car was right at 500 miles when one of the metal band clamps on the exhaust heat shield came loose and started rattling. Scooted under the car, tightened it up, and everything has been fine since. |

Yes, major issues. Had the fuel pump replaced 3 times because of chirping issues. It is coming back and I am thinking about trading the car in.
Just kidding. No issues. 2015 model, 14k miles. |
What's major?
I've had chirping, condensation in the taillights, squeaky windows, loose dead pedal, creaking clutch, failed coilpacks, stripped studs and random CEL's. 44k miles and I've never taken my car back to the dealership. |
84000 miles. 2013 picked up 5/31/12
1. Tailight condensation (fixed by dealer) 2. Disappearing coolant (I just top it off) Leak down, compression tests good 3. multiple wheel studs stripped. (caused by me undoing them while hot I think and the tire shop using an impact) 4. idle dip (gonna get oft to fix as its not consistant to replicate) 5. steering wheel peelinng Biggest pain in the ass is the damn headunit. My bluetooth doesnt always work. Gonna start driving it over to the dealer so I can get it cared for before my extended warantee runs out. |
20K & change. No major issues.
Both windows poorly aligned from the factory - fixed them Handbrake way too loose - adjusted Creaky clutch fork - I'll get around to it Crickets - feature edit: Oh yeah, steering wheel peeling. |
2013, MT, bought new, 16,000 miles ....no issues.
humfrz |
No problems with my 2013. 23k kms
Not even the crickets!!! |
2015 GT86, 16K KM'S
Replaced radiator 10,000 Kms by dealer due to disappearing coolant, slow seepage from the crimps. Replaced rear view mirror 15,000Kms by dealer due to poor appearance (original JDM mirror sides starting to blacken for no reason) |
Coming up on 3 years and 45000km, no problems with my bone stock 2013 GT86 High.
Driven it through 10 European countries, top speed on German Autobahn is 240km/h. Car feels solid as a rock at high speed, no overheating or anything. The hood was vibrating a little at 200+ km/h, I adjusted the rubber stops and that fixed it. Never heard any crickets, everything is fine. Dealership has been good to me. I love my car:happyanim: |
I have 2014 model manufactured in August 2013 that I bought new on January 7, 2014. Currently at 51,xxx km (~32,xxx miles). This car is my everything: daily driver, autocrosser, grocery getter, and road tripper. Did a 4000 km (2500 mile) road trip this summer without any mechanical issues.
Issues so far: - AC condenser replaced under warranty (the part didn't fail; the pulley bracket was damaged somehow. I'm guessing a rodent got under there and chewed on it since my car is parked outside) - two windshields replaced with insurance deductible due to rock chip/cracking - shifter rattle at high RPM (plan to replace with TRD Japan short shifter in the future) - rear deck rattle (haven't attempted any fixes yet) These are small nuisances to me though. I love this car and have no intention of ever selling it. I want to be one of those guys who bought a car new when they were young and still own it in their senior years...Is 27 still considered young? |
50K Miles since 09/02/14 Year round DD
Haven't heard crickets since this spring. No idea where they went. Window squeal when wet. Fixed by TSB no more squeal. No issues shifting to any gear at any temperature. No rattles, creaks or groans (from the car). Paint chipped in a light breeze for first 6 months but now seems impervious to damage with zero new chips in months. No oil leaks. No coolant loss (beyond normal). HU works perfectly every single time. Idle dip when AC is on. I consider normal and will not have it "fixed". Steering wheel is pristine. Very shiny in a few contact spots. All dealer service have been a pleasure with no issues at all. Overall satisfaction remains 10/10 |

I should add I have had a few rattles in mine that I fixed myself and I need to get the TSB for the squeaky window done haha. I also had the rear deck TSB done as well as the usual cricket extermination treatment that never works. But like Tcoat I have not heard mine only very rarely since spring |
44k bought it used. Only thing I saw on the car fax was a reoccurring exterior trim piece. I gave it a look over and didn't see anything. Only thing missing was a few plastic rivvets on the fender and two wheels missing their pressure guages. I'll talk to Toyota about that Saturday when I drop it off Saturday.

20000 mi - 14 model built in (march or may of 14 I believe)

2015 BRZ, bought new as my DD
6,400 miles on it Driving is a pleasure Crickets, doesn't really matter - guess I'm accustomed to them Doesn't break my wallet each time I need fuel RPMs fluctuate while engine is running and car is in park all in all the car has been fine and the two little issues it has are insignificant. I give it a :party0030: |

Those were all done over last winter. Since then, haven't noticed anything crazy Though, I wish my dealer service was as good as yours. |
38000km on my 2013 BRZ
- Scratched driver/passenger side window (replaced by dealer) - rattling rear deck (TSB fixed by dealer) - rattling shifter (TSB fixed by dealer) - squeaking window when rolling up and down when wet... (left it...not a big deal for me) Other than those minor issues, everything has been great with this car! Love it and I plan on keeping it for a very long time. |

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92400 http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91293 I'm busy with school and work and such so I only went to car meets and shows during the summer with friends, plus crap whether unless you want to drift in a parking lot and get tickets  But if you follow the regional forums they have dates and times and such. I'm pretty sure the willowbrook meets died out as well.... |

I'd consider the studs more of a problem than the coilpacks due to the time associated with fixing the issue. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21563 Forgot about stiff second gear when the gearbox is cool. |
60k miles. Just a few but nothing major.
Throw out bearing was toast by 50k miles. Trans or diff whines in 3rd gear. I think it's because my uncle backed into my car last summer. A couple times the engine would rattle in 3rd gear, I think it was related to AVCS. Also I think the Subaru manual says this is normal to happen sometimes. It went away after a few minutes. A bolt on my stock header broke when it was being removed. Radio doesn't work anymore because it was reset, and the dealership never gave me an SD card to reprogram it. Subaru of America are true bastards for charging $400 for a new SD card. I wish there was some kind of hack for this. My dome light went out. Hole in the floor mats where my heel rests had a hole worn into it after one year. Shift knob rattle under certain conditions above 4000 rpm, doesn't always happen. Rear deck rattle. |
45,xxx and not one problem whatsoever :)

75,000 miles on my First86 '13.
Only "real" issue is tail light condensation on the driver's side that started a few 100 miles after the warranty ended and neither the dealer nor Scion would address. I plan on pulling it off over Christmas vacation, drying it out and replacing the gaskets which I'm pretty sure is the problem. If that doesn't work, I'm going to build a terrarium or maybe a ship in the taillight. |
28k miles, 15 months, 2 track days, 0 problems that weren't caused by me.

19k miles 2014 model bought new.
Boomerang went out on the passenger side -- replaced the whole headlight assembly under warranty. After replacing the headlights the bumper never aligned properly so there's a small gap. Crickets if I use a different gas than what I normally use. |
I'll play along too.
I bought the car in 2012, so its one of the first ones on the road. I've had condensation twice now (two separate sets of lights). Squeaky windows even after I took it to the dealer. Crickets of course. I just replaced the clutch due to the throw out bearing. Car has never been tracked, and has never been driven hard. I'm still happy with the car though so I guess thats all that matters. |
2013 FR-S 6MT - 26K miles
I don't consider a coilpack major (replaced bank 1 coilpack @ ~18k mi for $100 and 30 mins labor in my carport). Boosted on Phantom ESC + e85 for 18k miles + lots of other mods. Engine runs like a clock. Transmission is lovely. 20k miles on RS-R Sports-i, zero issues. Interior is in great shape. Raven paint has assorted rock chips in front end, no biggie. Got squeaky windows and crickets that I don't really hear anymore. Car has been nothing but a pleasure. |
What the hell's a CEL?
|
But why would I check the engine? My car runs so flawlessly.
