What's the first thing you upgraded?

Already considering getting a 2016 FRS before the end of the year and I was wondering what's the first thing you upgraded after you got your FRS? Suspension? Exhaust? Intake? Did you do any exterior mods as well? I'm going to leave the engine bone stock for the time being.

8R6 07-21-2015 01:23 AM

HIDs, clear side markers, all red oem tails, and Toyota badges. I bought these the same weekend I bought the car lol

Sammakko 07-21-2015 01:24 AM

the hideous stock wheels.

Ultramaroon 07-21-2015 01:36 AM

Clutch slave cylinder

Packofcrows 07-21-2015 01:38 AM

Toyota badges. Increased hp by 20.

smg1138 07-21-2015 01:40 AM

Tires

Changed the emblems, shift knob, and rear view mirror. After that the big mods came through.

MarcFr-s 07-21-2015 01:55 AM

I drove mine stock for the first 5k miles, did a few autox's, then changed out the wheels and tires, lowered a little with RSR Sport coilovers... Wow! What a difference! Looks better and handles better... primarily from the better, wider tires.

whataboutbob 07-21-2015 01:57 AM

Valve stem caps, seriously.

NyC Zn6 07-21-2015 02:20 AM

drop in filter and oft.

Mim 07-21-2015 02:31 AM

Stereo. Replaced the head unit, speakers, added an amp and reversing camera.

Trac Toy 07-21-2015 02:39 AM

Week after purchase, cat back, brakes pads, fluid and lines!

strat61caster 07-21-2015 02:50 AM

Brake pads and fluid as they were the first let down, driving back from the track after my second ever HPDE was very harrowing with spongy faded brakes.

Upgraded (added)a center arm rest ....... that's all it needed, for comfortably driving around the countryside ....... ;)

Good plan for leaving the engine bone stock ........ forever, IMHO (for average driving).

Oh, you might consider an aftermarket muffler ..... to let out a bit more sound ..... ;)

Actually, the car is set up pretty darn good, right off of the boat ..... give it a chance to show you what it can do ........ more than likely, it can do more than you can handle .......

Didn't feel it need anything for the street.

But when went to track Brake pads, fluid, alignment/camber bolt

Who8myrice 07-21-2015 03:56 AM

Trd drop filter and otf. Stock rims didn't bother me.
I also really like stock suspension.

chaoskaze 07-21-2015 04:43 AM

Exhaust xD

But try the Sti rear frame upper stopper, I think the the best cheap mod I have ever done to cars. 10 buck + shipping. lol

SubaruLifer 07-21-2015 09:17 AM

Clear side markers

Tcoat 07-21-2015 09:26 AM

My car. By buying it.

Chimera 07-21-2015 09:37 AM

K&N drop in filter, cheap easy.. entryway dr...upgrade..

DarkSunrise 07-21-2015 09:44 AM

Perrin catback. I really disliked the stock sound and under-sized exhaust tips.

After that I bought tires/wheels and brake pads, but that was mainly to prep for the track.

WhiteFRS69 07-21-2015 09:55 AM

like a week after owning it, i went and got it tinted

think the first thing i actually did was a drop in filter and some HID's

stevesnj 07-21-2015 10:18 AM

Clear bra is a good start to me before go fast parts but I still have the clear bra in my possession but just haven't had time to install it. I'm staying far as possible from other cars and trucks when highway driving. Also wash, polish, and wax the exterior. Don't let the dealer wash it. IMHO

soulreapersteve 07-21-2015 10:40 AM

My personality?

I've been more open and talkative to strangers since I bought the car....

Of course! I'm not a total hermit...

It would've been awkward during the two mountain drives if I'd shown up and not say a word.

"Who is this guy in the orange FRS following us around for 6 hours..."

Kostamojen 07-21-2015 01:12 PM

Transmission fluid

miyoshi82 07-21-2015 01:24 PM

I'm thinking about changing out the suspension and exhaust after breaking it in. Would coilovers be too much or would I be fine with the stock struts and some aftermarket lowering springs for daily driving?

For DD save yourself hassle and money and stick to springs. I have the RSRs and am very happy with them on my 3,500 mile a month DD.

IBill4You 07-21-2015 01:36 PM

@1000 miles full exhaust and turbo kit with first oil change. Feelsgoodman

stugray 07-21-2015 01:44 PM

Weathertech floor mats & Track time.

Any other "performance mods" PRIOR to taking it out on the track is just bling, plain and simple.

Ammunition 07-21-2015 02:37 PM

I'm not sure if by upgrade you mean a boost to performance, or just any modification.

The first mod I did was Rally Armor mud flaps for extra protection, and to avoid a lot of nasty spray on the sides of my car as it rains a lot here; I added gloss black caps with washers to cover the screws :)

Almost in conjunction with that I got the car opti-coated; I struggled with putting a good chunk of money towards that for "protection" versus spending that money on the fun stuff, but I have no regrets about that choice now.

For performance - I did the Apexi drop in filter about two months after owning the car :)

DAEMANO 07-21-2015 02:44 PM

First mod

Plugged the sound tube hole in the passenger foot well with the 12v plug from the outlet in the glovebox.

Priceless.

OH, OH, OH, I did that! So I have modded my car myself.

D.Scrye 07-21-2015 03:01 PM

Toyota badges, silicon induction hose with noise tube delete, and a panel filter. I had the parts by the time she had been delivered.

kevman_101 07-21-2015 03:12 PM

-Plugged the hole for the noise generator.
-TRD Exhaust to make it sound great
-K&N drop-in filter just to breath slightly better, as CAI systems don`t seem to do much on this platform for the money it costs

MJones_RB 07-21-2015 03:15 PM

#1 - sound tube delete/plug
#2 - tranny fluid replace
#3 - MTEC shift springs (manual)
#4 - center armrest
