What price did the dealership give you?

I went to the Subaru dealership today to check out a 2014 BRZ limited in dark metallic gray with 31miles. The price is listed for $25900. Then there's a preparation fee of $895, tax $2312, title $75, and another $10 and $13. Total price $29205. Then I talked to the manager and lowered to price to $27500 out the door price.

And.. It'll .. Be an.. Automatic.

Summerwolf 07-17-2015 07:27 PM

Sounds like a bad deal.

Speed2th 07-17-2015 07:31 PM

I would wait for 2016 model comes out and go see if i can get some 2015 model or even 2014 for cheap

JS + BRZ 07-17-2015 07:35 PM

The issue should be your transmission choice!

swarb 07-17-2015 07:36 PM

Prices range from state to state as demand is different. Taxes are also different. 2016's are out so essentially you are buying an older car with lower miles.

Try posting in the regional forums.
Also try true car, they have pretty competitive prices.

Agent 86 07-17-2015 07:39 PM

The out the door price seems decent to me. Especially for an automatic.

And I'll be the first owner.

The msrp is around $28,685 in 2014 plus tax and everything else will go over $30k

iwantafrs 07-18-2015 02:50 AM

TimmyC 07-18-2015 03:39 AM

Did you negotiate the price? Since it is a 2014 (and with 31 miles I'm guessing it's new) and with the 2016's coming out I would really try to negotiate the price because the dealership should really be wanting to move a car that's going to be 2 car model years old at this point.

That's a very good point. Ill wait for them to call me and I'll try to lower the price down from $27,500 with your explanation

olsonpg 07-18-2015 10:42 AM

17,7 for 11,000 mile premium manual 2013. Had to fly to south Dakota to get it but totally worth it.

raven1231 07-18-2015 11:04 AM

I paid 22,900 for my 2013 MT with 50 miles on it when the 2014's were about to hit the lot.

I don't think that is a bad price for an automatic at all. You can't negotiate tax and title. So that is about $2400 right there. $27,500 out the door essentially means you paying $25,100 for the car. Invoice on the car was $28,000 so you are getting it for about $3000 under invoice. Do you know if there are any other options on the car? Invoice might even be closer to $29K. Folks have to remember that the automatic is more expensive than the manual. I really don't think it is bad. Can you do better because it is a 14? I mean you might be able to squeeze another $500 or so out of them, but you might be better off negotiating in free oil changes, or some extra options like all weather floor mats, etc.

cdq85 07-18-2015 01:53 PM

just fyi @thill , you're talking about MSRP and not invoice. Invoice is the price the dealership "pays" for the car before holdback and reserve. if you are truly getting 1-2k below invoice, you are doing a pretty darn good job. a good deal is only one you think is a good deal. you seem to have found at least close to the bottom of that deal in my opinion. don't stress over a couple more dollars when you could be already driving it!

GreenMonster 07-18-2015 02:16 PM

2015MY pricing thread is here:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84756

just add $1k to pricing for auto

extrashaky 07-18-2015 02:32 PM

What you should do is go to Edmunds.com or KBB.com and search IN YOUR AREA to see what people IN YOUR AREA are paying. That's how you know you are being quoted a fair deal. Auto prices vary by geography.

You can also switch up your zip code in those searches to see if people in other areas are paying less than in your area, which can be handy to figure out whether to go look around in the next city over, for example.

Scoobybrz 07-18-2015 06:59 PM

I'm not too familiar with the NY market for BRZs/FRs', but you can do better on the price. I paid 3k under MSRP, for my '13 BRZ back in the summer of '13. And, keep in mind that the demand was higher back in 2013.

That was invoice pricing I quoted. Straight from KBB. MSRP was well over $29K. He is paying about $3K under invoice, remember he has an automatic which is more than the manual. It just comes down to whether he thinks $3K under invoice on a 2014 when the 2016 are shipping soon is a big enough discount to him. As others have pointed out so much of this is regional too. Just because someone on an opposite coast from you paid less two years ago does not mean you will. And it is the internet where people tend to exaggerate everything.

iwantafrs 07-19-2015 01:32 AM

Damn, I called and someone made a deposit on the vehicle. The manager will let me know if he's going to buy it or not on Monday.

If you do get the option to buy it, that does sound like a decent deal. I paid $25800 for a limited 2014 with a bunch of accessories back in May last year. Since we are looking at getting 2016's pretty soon, the 2014 should be available much cheaper. But then it is an automatic and that should negate some of the possible price drop.

iwantafrs 07-20-2015 12:32 PM

What about this,

http://www.northcoastsubaru.com/used...archDepth=1:14

$21k.

I see a slight dent on the passenger side door (not that noticeable) that i'll try to speak to the manager about. Also lowering the price.

Mx5racer 07-20-2015 11:53 PM

I just bought a 2015 limited in WRB for 3K off MSRP

edigeek 07-21-2015 12:11 AM

I paid 23500, for a 2014 white limited. Stick, 7,760 miles.

car condition: Perfect, it even had the the original plastic wraps on the pedals and the side panels. The glovebox still has the tag hanging out

Stang70Fastback 07-21-2015 01:39 AM

FYI, I got my 2015 BRZ Series.Blue here in Chicago last October for $27,350. Out the door it was $30,020 thanks to our high taxes and such.

^^ my total cost was +/- 50 bucks from yours on my 2015 limited brz auto w/ add ons too.

yeah the tax rate blows here as well. I tried to figure it out exactly but its set up in tiers by dollar amounts... so i said f it and used a rounded up number, using 9%

220volt 08-09-2015 10:15 PM

Negotiating for couple of weeks already for Dark gray 2014 Limited GMT with only 4k miles. Got it down to $23,400 + TTL. I offered $23,600 out to door but they refused. Still negotiating... Unless I get the Porsche in the meantime :)

I used truecar. I didn't get it at a dealer listed on the site but I called him and told him where I got my price and that if he wanted to sell the car I'd buy it for that on the condition that I got what I wanted on my trade. iirc, MSRP was $29K+change and I paid $27,200. easiest buying process ever.

just do that. makes it super simple. keep in mind that you are in NY and while I'm not sure of the specfics I would imagine that taxes and such are higher up there so you might pay more.

I got my 2015 BRZ limited (red) with 7 miles for $25,595 in April. $29k out the door. Paul Miller Subaru in Parsippany, NJ.

Veloist 08-11-2015 12:07 PM

$3000-$3500 off MSRP is a pretty good deal. I've seen dealerships selling it for that cheap.

Futaba 08-11-2015 12:37 PM

$18K for a red 2014 86 with 6000km on the clock via GTNet in Japan.

cjgent 08-12-2015 10:54 PM

I just picked up a Series.Blue with 11k miles for 29k out the door.

8ighty6 08-15-2015 01:12 PM

To put these in perspective with wholesale prices, CarMax just appraised my '14 WRB BRZ limited w/ 8,666 miles at 21k. It was actually WAY more than I was expecting... not that anyone's complaining.

ntron1 08-15-2015 01:21 PM

raven1231 08-15-2015 01:34 PM
