Newly installed problems

Yesterday I installed a Invidia Resonated front pipe and Over pipe and everything was fine but this morning I feel something vibrating or slightly banging something underneath the car where the over pipe is when I shift into 1st in low rpm or 2nd in low rpm.

I'm going to take a look at it after work but does anyone have any idea:iono:

You have to get back under there and check the fitment. The front pipe I wouldn't be so worried about. The overpipe is probably what's hitting something. Just double check your clearance on everything when you get back under there and everything has a good seal with the gaskets.

I'm going to get back under there today. I didn't really tourque everything down. More like tightened everything really good. Maybe that could be the issue? I would imagine the overpipe would have anough clearance.. It doesn't have those annoying heat shields. :mad0260:

I just hand tighten my bolts too. There's not really a definitive amount of torque to put them at. That's what checking for leaks is for! It's good to go back and re-tighten them after a heat cycle though just to check. Just don't go too tight and strip the nut.

I would just follow the overpipe with my finger and feeling for clearance if you cannot see it. If something feels quite a bit less than letting your finger go by, then you probably found your issue and may need to adjust a little bit.

Did you tighten starting from header to overpipe end first?

I can't remember the order I tightened everything I just remember making them really tight. Do you think i should tighten the over pipe to the header first and then work my way back? Either way i'm going to loosen and re tighten everything. I was just wondering if anyone has ever had this problem. Figured it would be an easy install..

Yes, I would go in that order and work your way back. Plenty of other people have received this problem. Some of it due to poor fitment, the other is just an install problem.

Thankfully I did not have an issue up front with my exhaust. I have another thread where I fought the Perrin 2.5" resonated catback tip aligntment for several days and finally won.

Finally got underneath my car.. Apparently the Invidia Overpipe's fitment is HORRIBLE. It leaves maybe only a quarter of an inch of space over the metal it goes over. I might have to buy wrap for it or something to prevent that awful metal on metal sound..

my catback was rubbing the rear frame

took a small strip of sound deadening material, and put it on the frame of the car.. no more rattle

Back in the day, after we would tighten everything down, we would take something like a big screwdriver or small pry bar and bend the pipe away from the frame ....... it ain't gonna break ..... http://www.runemasterstudios.com/gra...ool_shades.gif

Try loosening the overpipe and pushing it up away from the contact point while tightening it down again. The flanges can bolt together slightly differently depending on how you hold it/where it is sitting until the bolts are tight enough to prevent movement. I use this a lot to help with clearance issues and pipe alignment issues

I tried that. I pushed the front pipe and the over pipe as far as it can go up. I ended up wrapping the over pipe with material that will soften the impact and make the noise almost unrecognizable other then when I start it up.

One of the guys that worked at the shop where I rented the lift told me to take a hammer to it. Haha.
