I have Valenti headlights installed [Photos added]

So friday was a good day! The first set of Valenti's new headlights for the 86 arrived! I know a lot of people have been asking questions since photos started circulating and I've done my best to answer with the information I could reveal. Now they are out in the open I can freely discuss and answer questions you might have.

First up, they are of great quality and build. Valenti has put heaps of effort into these headlights. They are only compatible with the factory HID models. So that means Japan 86, Australian 86 GTS, Subaru BRZ and possibly the monogram series for you guys in the states?

I have done a couple of videos and some pictures will come later. Another video will be done soon for some installation tips on transferring the leveling motor and HID ballast from the factory headlights onto the valenti headlights. Overall I'm extremely happy with these headlights!

FAQ

Q. Will these fit on FRS or Australian GT model.
A. Short answer, no. Part of the installation process is transferring the HID ballast, cable & level motor from the factory headlight onto the Valenti headlights. In theory you could wire it yourself but its not something I have attempted.

Q. Is it plug-n-play?
A. 99% yes, there is only one wire that you splice for the DRL and its basically right next to the headlight.

Q. Can you turn off the sequential/flow type indicators?
A. Yes, there is a button on the back of the headlight to turn the flow type indicator mode on/off. Easy access by just opening the hood and pushing the button.

Q. Does it come with HID bulbs, ballasts?
A. No, you use your HID bulbs and ballast and leveling motor from the factory HID headlight and transfer onto the valenti.

Q. What types are available? LHD/RHD, colors etc?
A. Only RHD versions are available (Japan/Australia etc). Color options are chrome or black, there is no smoked lens version as thats pretty much illegal anywhere.

Q. How does the DRL function?
A. You can see a stepped row of LEDs and an illuminated eyebrow. The top half of the LEDs are the DRL and are on as soon as the car starts and stay on. The indicators are the bottom half of the led and function as you would expect. The eyebrow I suppose you would call your "position light".

With the lights set to "AUTO" the brow will be off when it detects sunlight and your headlights are off, they will turn on when it detects night time and come on with your headlights. They also turn on manually if you set the stalk to ILLUMINATE, which you would normally use when its just starting to get dark and you need to illuminate the speedo.

That's pretty much all I can think off right now. Any more questions post away and ill try to answer. Keep an eye on my youtube channel for more videos.

The light almost looks blue...is that really the case?

LED86 02-28-2015 05:43 AM

Nah the camera didn't pick up in the color to well. It's pure white

3ananaPie 02-28-2015 05:46 AM

Thank you for the video/information. Any chance you can share pictures of the DRLs and running/side lights (not headlights) during the day to show the brightness.

LED86 03-01-2015 08:29 AM

Yup ill have photos pretty soon. Been a busy weekend so didnt get time. They are very bright though.

Ammunition 03-01-2015 12:33 PM

OMG...dat cut-off!

Thanks for posting this - great to finally see them installed after waiting for substantial information on them for over. I'm not sure if they're for me, but they do look very nice, and it's good to see a headlight option from Valenti.

Too bad I can assume we'll have about the same wait before we can see their new tail lights from this past TAS :(.

Squishy86 03-01-2015 03:55 PM

Is it black and blue or white and gold?

LED86 03-02-2015 10:15 PM

New video uploaded detailing the process of transferring the HID bulb & ballast and level motor from your stock headlights to the Valenti headlights.

Too bad don't work with the FRS yet
Been waiting for a long time for this
Best looking aftermarket headlights so far.
Since there's a way to get the JDM headlights to work on the FRS you think the same method would work for these?

LED86 03-04-2015 12:29 AM

If you could source the correct ballast, bulbs and wiring and then figured out the connector wiring yourself in theory you then could.

NyC Zn6 03-04-2015 12:41 AM

so these are plug and play for 10series/monogram/rs1.0 ?

Chen 03-04-2015 01:03 AM

Wish I had these instead lf the spec d now.

If those models come with the factory HID headlights then yes.

Been waiting a long time for these as well. I have been trying to source all the wiring diagrams/moto-diy to see how to possibly retrofit these. I don't wanna spend ~$1000 and then end up burning something out. :/

Shady195 03-06-2015 03:11 PM

I REALLY want these for my FR-S hopefully theres a way to get it done or they come out with a model for them.

Would any brand aftermarket hid kit for jdm /euro gt86 work on these?
Say if i have an aftermarket hid kit that works for the jdm gt86 but i'll need to relocate the ballast would it still work?
I've found a diy for the conversion of the jdm headlight to be install onto the frs with repin wire instructions for all functions to work so i'm seriously considering of going that route if i have to.
These lights is just tooo damn sexy for it not to be on my car:thumbup:

Its hard to say if any D4S hid kit would work, I hope someone steps up and tries it. I have been looking at ways to make it work on our 86 GT model in Australia which is very similar to the FRS but it will take time to get everything and work out the details. If I get it working ill be sure to post about it!

LED86 03-08-2015 07:25 AM

Time for some photos! Sorry it took so long. I will try add to first post as well for new people to the thread.

Hi
thank you LED86 for your contribution. I have purchased and install them on my GT86. My car didn't have OEM HID. I had to buy used OEM ballast and bulbs. I had to take it to a professional electrician becase we don't need all the wires. It is pretty simple. Test light to know which wire correspond to which light. Take the old connectors of the old lights and repin the new light according to your test with the car connector.
you don't have to use replay because the car comes with one (my car did). You can jumper the DRL relay in the fuse box to get the DRL working through factory wires with external rewiring.
You need to disconnect a white plastic connector that joins the orrange wire to make the signal work. You can find it under the wires grommet. There will some extra wire you won't use.
I'll post some pics of the wiring one i take them.

If Any one looking to install them soon in Dubai, i can help, guide you to the right electrician

LED86 05-07-2015 03:25 AM

Very cool that you got it working on a non hid model 86. They are a very nice headlight so I hope you enjoy them and thanks for sharing your info :)

megamarines 05-09-2015 06:54 PM

Are those Valenti turn markers as well? I'd kill for those since I already like the RS 1.0 Daytime set. Can you buy those separately or do they come with the headlights?

LED86 05-10-2015 06:08 AM

No, the front indicators are AR (auto revitalization) indicators.

IgamaS 05-22-2015 09:43 PM

Uh these looks so amazing, I really can't wait to have them available of the FRS. I've seen someone repin the headlights but I'm not don't have the knowledge to do that...

KatrinaR 06-06-2015 08:01 PM

So they will work on the BRZ?

Yes they will fit and connect no problem with the brz. They come with these small rubber pieces which I assume is to fill the gap in the front bumper on the brz.

vagthomas 01-08-2016 02:18 PM

Does anybody know if the smoked black valenti is different to valenti black edition or are the same (talking abut tailights)?

xFury 01-08-2016 03:45 PM

Wow those are sexy! Whats the price for those?

LED86 01-08-2016 10:48 PM

I'm not sure exactly US pricing but probably $900usd a set.
Keep in my they are only available in RHD (Japan, Australia etc) and compatible with HID models not halogen.

Not sure what you mean black edition. Valenti only has 4 official color variants (SB/RC/CR/C) as listed on their site and one collaboration project for the blue lens. Anything else is not an official Valenti product.

MisterSheep 01-13-2016 11:34 AM

Is the white strip at the top the DRL? I watched your videos and cofused as to which one turns on when.

The top 'eyebrow' is I suppose the position light. It comes on when the headlights are on.
The LED above the indicators are the DRL and are always on.

This is all based on plug-n-play installation and japan/Australian wiring.

teotl 04-21-2016 01:26 PM

Will these be offered in LHD?

GT86Olli 08-15-2016 09:04 AM

So is there a LHD version? I want to install it on my GT86 LHD (Europe)

Fixed original post, there is NO LHD version available.

These have also been out of stock almost a year now waiting for new production :( They are suffering they same delay issues as Revo tail lights.

GT86Olli 08-16-2016 05:28 AM

Ok thanks for the answer!

I'm not sure where the eyebrow should be tapped to. I don't have the automatic motor leveler. Any suggestions?

I'm not familiar with the USA wiring. You just need a power source really. IGN fuse?

RiskyTrousers 01-11-2017 03:58 PM

Is it possible to find out the projector type this uses? Or possibly get schematics? I want to be sure I can retrofit these with LHD projectors before purchasing.

Thanks!
