Will Invidia Q300 muffler connect to TRD exhaust piping?
hey all
I've been looking for a way to quiet my car down even more. I've been looking at pics of the Q300 and the TRD exhaust, and it looks like the Q300 axle-back portion (muffler only) might line up with the TRD mid-pipe. The smaller mid-pipe plus the larger muffler would probably yield the quietest results...if they line up. Can anyone confirm that the Q300 muffler would match up to the TRD mid-pipe? Thanks! |

Thanks! It sounds like you've seen both exhausts. Have you heard both exhausts? Can you tell me which is quieter in cabin under light load? or in any situation for that matter, which is the quieter of the two CBEs? Thanks again |

You won't hear much at all light cruising on the Q300. |
Just my $0.02 as I have neither the Q300 or TRD, but much of the cabin drone is resonance or vibration that is passed through the trunk and into the cabin. The trunk has basically no sound dampening material and sounds very thin and tin-like when tapped on. I added 80mil sound deadening material to the entirety of my trunk area and it made a noticeable difference is exhaust cabin drone under acceleration. I still would like to do the rear seat area to increase its effectiveness, but as it stands it is a great sub $60 modification (less considering I still have enough mat to due the rear seats).
I am currently on a UEL with Zeta exhaust. The exhaust note is almost non-existent during cruising, but vibrates/resonates fairly deeply (at least to me) between 1000-2500RPM at acceleration. |

Now, you have a resonated Perrin because you wanted 0 drone. Does that mean the Q300 had drone? Just looking for clarity, because the Internet. |

ok. So you haven't heard or driven with a TRD exhaust then. Correct? People say the TRD is about the same as the Q300. I have a TRD, I think there's a slight "drone" with a slight load, or on engine braking. If they are about the same, then the Q300 will probably just be as loud, and I might as well not get one to save money. |

The TRD is louder because the muffler is smaller. I can assure you the Q300 has no drone. I ran it with a catless header and catted front pipe and it was always quiet inside.

But the q300 does not? |

Thanks folks. Looks like I might use $700 of my tax dollars. Some jerk dented my pass door though so I might have to pay for paint less dr instead. :(

My deductible is $500. Pdr should cost less than that.

So to all the guys who have talked about the q300 - have any of you ridden or driven in a car with trd exhaust?

That's the reason I went with the Perrin 2.5" so I can at least hear my exhaust some, but not have the drone. It's the perfect setup I've found that balances quiet and loud right in the middle. |

The Ti tips I had were faded when I got the exhaust and it progressively got worse. I ended up anodizing the tips myself with electricity and making them more of a blue color and they looked much better. Needless to say, I'm happy to be back to brushed stainless tips. |
OP, did you end up getting the Q300?
I have the TRD exhaust and it's a little bit too loud for me. I'm thinking I might switch back to stock or try one of these Q300's. One of the most annoying things is the TRD exhaust on the freeway when I'm rolling in 6th and accelerate from 60-75mph, it is pretty loud. Likewise on deceleration that booming is pretty noticeable. |
No. I'm stuck on the TRD still. I'm not sure if I want to sink more money into my car.
