TF-Works exhaust

http://www.tf-works.com/tf-modular-s...turn-down-tip/

I am finding very little info on what looks to me like a pretty sweet single exit system. Anyone have experience with Touge-Factory's exhaust or other in house products?

Phantobe 12-05-2014 08:23 PM

Couple vids on youtube... I haven't heard anyone with the setup. Or seen any threads pop up about it.

I considered it when I was picking my catback but I ended up going with a Tanabe.

executivekoala 12-06-2014 03:39 AM

Shit... That makes me almost want to give up mine. From what I've seen with their other self branded things it should be great quality and they have really good customer service which is getting rare around here.

Grip Ronin 12-06-2014 10:08 AM

that looks pretty dam awesome.

agile30 12-06-2014 02:16 PM

That is actually my exhaust In that picture. What questions do you have?

EpicNameBro 12-06-2014 05:35 PM

I like that it is tucked nice to the underbody it doesn't hang or sit low like some exhaust... gonna have to look up how it sounds...

agile30 12-06-2014 05:56 PM

Ill try to get a recording today or tomorrow of how it sounds and link it up.

nice! just curious to the quality of materials and welds, would love to hear a video, and maybe other pics of you got them :D

and... do you like it?

agile30 12-06-2014 09:26 PM

This exhaust is heaven. I cant stress how awesome the build quality is on it. Great quality and you wont be disappointed. It is nice because once the rpms pass 5k the exhaust quiets down and isnt super obnoxious like some exhausts do. It is free flowing as well. It is 2.5in and it has an 18in resonator up front and i believe the one in the second half is 8 or 10in. What is nice is that back half can be swapped with any of their other tips. So when the release the dual exhaust tips all you do is remove the rear clamp and drop the axle back portion and bolt it up. Takes less than 15 mins with the car on the ground. They are great people to work with there and the customer service is top notch. If you have any questions about any of it call and ask for John Kim. He has the variation that comes out of the driver side with the turndowm tip.

the new guy 12-06-2014 10:57 PM

I can't speak for the single exit but I had the quad tip axleback and was completely happy with it.

#maverick# 12-06-2014 11:08 PM

Looks and sounds awesome. Dont personally own it because im not a fan of single exits. I have heard it in person. You cant go wrong with it

2much 12-07-2014 12:50 AM

thank you guys for the thoughts!

Sorry for the poor iphone sitting on the floor video. Any specific pictures that you want?

I say you should buy it. Awesome quality. Not many people have it. And you wont be disappointed one bit. I was looking and different exhausts for a while until I talked to them. This is probably my favorite out of the dofferent setups I have heard.

2much 12-08-2014 08:04 PM

fuck me that is sexy. hard to tell how loud it is relative to other setups though.

is everything else of your stock? I will have to take into consideration my OFH and as a result the lack of a cat.

agile30 12-09-2014 07:21 AM

The rest is stock. The video makes it seem loud. It is very refined. I Went with this set exhaust because come spring i will be going full catless with tomei el, tomei overpipe, and hks front pipe. So i was preparing go full catles frol the beginning with this exhaust.

Are you running the stock front pipe?

agile30 12-09-2014 07:31 AM

One of the other locals has a catless front pipe with this set up and it isnt bad. As the rpms pass 5k it quiets down and isnt stupid loud like some start to scream.

I will be running OFH, but if I replace front/downpipe I am planning on keeping the cat there. I will probably stick with OFH/overpipe/axleback as I've read those are the only real areas of constriction. Unless I am misinformed.

Thanks for all the info dude

** please note the two vehicles you see above only have 1 single 18 inch resonator while the the video Agile30 posted has a 18inch and an additional 12inch resonator.**

These exhausts are modular and we do plan on coming out with a dual setup in Spring of 2015. The rear pieces of these exhausts can be switched at anytime and more options will be available!

If you guys have anymore questions feel free to contact us anytime.

are your prices online for single or dual resonated systems?

Krovi 12-21-2014 02:22 AM

Curious how loud it is with a header... quieter or louder than the Tomei 60S?

its being reported as relatively quiet. Also they seem to offer single resonated and dual resonated systems. princing info on these differences isn't really available on their website...

akahenry 12-21-2014 03:01 AM

I'm also curious as to how this will sound with a catless header. I'm guessing it'll sound pretty freaking loud, but without a video of some sort, I'll never know--does anyone have this set up with a catless header? I love the dolphin tails and the overall design of the single tip exhaust, but I kinda wished it was canon shaped, similar to Hamzam's custom exhaust.

Relatively quiet can turn to obnoxiously loud real quick with a catless header... I had a Tomei 60R and I thought it was reasonable until I got my header.

I will have OFH so a catless header... but I am not planning on removing the front pipe cat... so I am hopeful that a single cat + 2 resonator system can yield an acceptably noisy system

Let me see if I can dig up a video of the TF Catback with a header installed!

Dream20b 12-22-2014 09:05 PM

I can always drop by for a EL header with a TF works exhaust, if you wanna give me a TFW CBE for those purposes! Lol.

Bergen23 07-01-2015 08:11 PM

I just posted this in the TF Vendor Review thread, but I'll put it here as well:

I just finished finalizing an order with TF today. Now bear with me, because this may end up being a long winded post with some tangents mixed in!

So, it all started a few days ago when I decided I wanted to swap out my nameless dual exit axle back for something of the single exit persuasion. That led to me spending most of my Sunday night researching possible options, then Monday night turning that research into a few informed decisions. I spoke with one other shop, and they didn't want to sell me anything but the Tomei (Had one, liked it, but it was a bit more than I wanted to spend, and I'll touch on that later) and I looked at what basically every other webstore had in stock or could get in stock.

So basically I had my choices laid out as such:
Megan Racing Drift Spec: I had Megan LCAs and didn't have any problem with them, and I personally thought the build quality was great, however, the sound was so-so from this exhaust and it looked very "normal", nothing too special about it, but it was going to be my fallback exhaust if I couldn't find something else I liked
HKS Hi-Power Single Exit: It sounds great, the price is right (especially since everywhere seems to have slashed prices on the HKS stuff), but I just couldn't get over how weird the tip looks and that's ultimately what led me to not picking it.
FT86 SF Single Exit: Love the sound, price is good, don't like the tip and I had a bad experience with FT86SF due to their choice in shipping company and I didn't want to deal with that again
Tomei 60S: I previously had the 60R, and it was SO. FREAKING. NICE. I wanted to splurge on this one, but ultimately, I couldn't justify 991 USD, then the conversion to CAD. And it really killed me knowing the quality of parts that Tomei produces, not only in craftsmanship, but looks, sound, just everything really.
And then there were all the cool JDM ones made out of what must be Unobtanium for the 2000+ price they're asking which I really wanted, but didn't want to be dropping close to 3k on an exhaust.

Which brings us to the winner: the TF Modular SPORT Catback

When I stumbled upon that, I knew that I had to have it. So, I spent the later part of Monday night, and Tuesday afternoon doing even more research into the TF catback system. The sound, so good. The price, even better. So, I went through the process in the online store to place an order. Unfortunately, the online store doesn't process international orders. So immediately, I left a query on the website, and then PM'd @Touge Factory on here, Monday night. Nick got back to me mid-morning the next day via email and gave me the lowdown, and John(maybe? Can't remember off the top of my head) got back to me on here shortly after Nick did. I proceeded along with Nick to finish up this order. Everything was going awesome until Nick told me shipping was going to be $175 to Canada.

I almost said screw it right there, and then I thought I might just get it shipped to my aunt who lives in Michigan, and would be coming up next week for a visit, but due to some things that aren't worth mentioning, I took what I perceived as a bit of a kick in the nuts on the shipping cost (but more on that later). I emailed nick back and said "Let's do it, when can I pay?". That's when another devastating blow was delivered. He only had the Race catback in stock, and the Sport version would take around a month to be made. I wanted the exhaust ASAP, as I only have a few days to enjoy my car per month due to working on the road, the rest of the time, I leave it with my parents so it can get driven a few times a week. Right then, I threw in the towel, and said "Sorry, I'm only interested in the muffled version". After I talked with a friend, he convinced me to go through with the purchase. I emailed Nick back shortly and told him that I would still be interested in purchasing the exhaust. I sent the payment that night, and waited to hear back from Nick. He replied, and shortly after, he let me know the exhaust was being prepped for shipping.

Naturally, I had more questions, ranging from trivial to future purchases. On the trivial side, I wanted some stickers to which he replied with "take your pick of what you want, and I'll do my best to throw them in with the exhaust", awesome! Future purchases being that I asked Nick about the price of just the muffled axleback portion (since this is a modular exhaust), and he let me know it was $250. I almost highfived myself at that point. Knowing that I could get a catback exhaust, with 2 axleback options for $850, which blows every single competitor out of the water (with the exception of Megan).

So now onto the shipping, which I mentioned earlier. While it was 175 bucks for shipping, Nick let me know it should be at my house monday or Tuesday. That jives perfectly for me, since I'll be home on wednesday next week. Now after knowing that, it isn't so much a kick in the balls. Maybe when the time comes for me to order the axle back portion, I'll see if there's some sort of other shipping method that won't be so expensive, but given the timeline I gave to Nick, he made it work. So, Nick, if you're reading this, thanks once again, you were awesome to deal with and I will be bringing future business to you!

I will update this thread once I'm home with unboxing, installation and installed pictures, along with a video to see the sound.

Like I said, here's a followup to my last post with pictures and a quick video.

As far as packaging went, I was a little bit scared when the FedEx guy delivered it.

https://farm1.staticflickr.com/256/1...f84e5b21_h.jpgIMG_0978 by colekmiecik, on Flickr

That only shows a little bit of how beat up it was when it got to my doorstep. But then I breathed a sigh of relief when I opened the package up.

https://farm1.staticflickr.com/557/1...db88be04_h.jpgIMG_0979 by colekmiecik, on Flickr

Bubblewrap and packing peanuts galore. It was in really good shape once I unpacked everything and set it out to be installed.

https://farm1.staticflickr.com/410/1...4509f553_h.jpgIMG_0980 by colekmiecik, on Flickr

Now, the install took longer than I'd like to admit, but that's because of how @Touge Factory decided to make their joints fit together. 2 of them were straight forward, slip one end onto the other end and then clamp them down. But for one of them, going from the smaller bent pipe, to the bigger bent pipe, took me forever to figure out. But, once I got it all figured out, the toughest part was getting it all lined up to my satisfaction. It still isn't perfect, but I'm not going to stress since it's good enough for me and I'll be placing an order for the Sports axle back shortly as well.

Here's the finished product, with a good look at the quality of the pieces, as well as a cool detail they added and a peek at how everything fits together.

https://farm1.staticflickr.com/469/1...90f1d056_h.jpgIMG_0987 by colekmiecik, on Flickr

Now, this review isn't all rainbows and butterflies. The tip I received didn't want to clamp down properly, so I put a layer of tape between the tip and the pipe to get it tight. Maybe I did something wrong, or maybe I just got a bad piece, I don't know and it'll be something I bring up to Nick @ TF when I place the order for the Sports AB.

Even still, apart from one "bad" thing (I may still be at fault, so I don't know if I can really call it a negative) everything else was great and I'm very happy with it. I think I've found the last exhaust I'll be buying.

And onto a quick video. I have the CNT uel headers, an eBay overpipe, dual resonated front pipe and this exhaust.

https://flic.kr/p/v1wXbo

EDIT: I'd also like to point out that this exhaust is brutal on cold starts, once it's going it isn't stupid loud until you get on the throttle. I figure once I get the Sports AB (aka muffled AB) it will tone it down quite a bit.

Not getting rid of this one, unless one of the mega JDM ones becomes available for very cheap.

Way too happy with this exhaust
