Spacers with closed lugs
Looking to get some 5mm and 12mm spacers, and will need extended studs. I'm also in Chicago, so I need to deal with road salt -- I want to avoid rusting out open lugs.
Is anyone using closed lugs with extended-stud spacers? I wonder if there's a place I can order studs to a perfect size, or if I'd need to go big and find a way to cut them down. |
You can try the nismo studs, not sure if they'll be long enough for 12mm spacers though. They're between the length of stock studs and ARP studs.

The ARP studs extend around 7-10mm past end of R40. -alex |

I'm using some Muteki SR35 right now. Sounds like I'll need to find out the required length and hunt on ARP/etc. for comparable studs.

It's much longer, if I remember tomorrow I'll take a picture of stock studs next to a pack of new ARP studs.

Honestly, if you're looking at 20mm or more, you should probably be getting bolt on spacers anyway.

reasons seem to be because for bolt-on spacers, the wheel bolts on to the new studs on spacer, and the spacer is bolted on the hub with original studs. this creates more "points" where it could fail? but for extended studs (especially arp studs being stronger) with sandwich spacers, there'd be less "points" where it could fail. am i understanding that wrong? or is it just negligible enough to not make a difference? thanks |
