I need to know how much freon i need to recharge and what type

I'm confused as to why your AC needs a recharge?

R134? O.o

I brought my car to the dealer to have the AC looked at when it quit blowing cold air on a trip to Virginia earlier this year. They said quite a few BRZs (and I'd assume FR-Ss as well as they're made in the same factory) weren't completely charged from the factory before being shipped out. No leaks or anything in the system, just had enough coolant to get through one season.

They filled it under warranty and leaktested the system, no charge.

R134A and check the sticker under the hood.

13.8oz plus or minus 1.8 oz OR for those metric folks

390g plus or minus 50g

R134A refrigerant.

Are you completely evacuating the system with a vacuum pump or just adding to what's in there already?

Your dealer is clueless.

Is that including the oil?

Refrigerant oil has noting to do with the refrigerant capacity information, Oil is a separate spec. ND-OIL 8

Toyota is semi stingy with the information , but states to add in what was removed from the system.

Most HVAC recovery machines has a separate bottle for oil, you have to measure how much came out and replenish it based on that.

Not to mention you shouldn't just start tossing refrigerant in to a system that could possibly have a leak. That stuff is still bad for the environment.

Have a certified and trained vehicular HVAC tech take a look at it.

ok because my BRZ has nothing of oil or 134a because it was sitting for more then 1 year in a salvage lot, with a broken condenser and radiator.

I am putting back AC on my race car and all components are new.

I understand that I need to vacuum the system, then recharge it with 13.8Oz of R134 refrigerant gas, but ...

can someone explain to me how much oil should be added ?

I looked at the maintenance manual and they are very evasive about the topic.
