Whats your mileage?
hi guys i was planning on buying an accord till my insurance company said the frs will be like 3$ more so i figured why not, but i just want to know your highway mileage as ill rarely go in the city, I've heard guys getting close to 40mpg on the v6 accord which also has more power than the frs. Thanks guys
sounds like you are looking at the wrong car to me.
I get about 22 but I couldn't care less about MPGs and drive like a bat out of hell pretty sure you could get 33+-2 if that's what you care about |
7mpg
A bit over 30.5 MPG, with (far too) occasional spirited driving, but I don't recommend the car for economy driving. Economy driving this car feels like most other econobox cars, many of which are better values. If you're looking to have a bit more fun with your drive watching MPGs is going to spoil it for you. If you're looking for a fun drive and/or a car to tailor to your tastes, it's a great platform and I've had my share of both.
I'm just keeping it as a precaution, i don't care for mileage but i just don't wanna have to top up on gas every 3 days, 28mpg is perfectly fine for me and i want a fun small car to drive around in, the accord is pretty big and i will probably get like 30 combined, for that little difference ill thane the FRS
25MPG is pretty easy for me to get in city driving with some fun driving when not in traffic. Be aware the tank is pretty small so I still have to fill up once a week at around 300 or so miles.
I dont mind filling up once a week if it has a small tank like i mentioned i wouldnt want like 15 mpg
Although I do make a point of driving spiritedly on when the situation warrants, most of my miles have been racked up on the highway at about 70 miles per hour. I haven't reset the MPG monitor in the car in a long time, and it's currently showing an average of 33 MPG. That's the car's calculation. I haven't bothered to work it out myself using gallons in the fill up vs. miles driven.
If I speed up and run 85 mph, it drops to 29. On the other hand, I had a trip a while back where I couldn't get the car above 60 miles per hour because of the condition of the roads, the speed limit and the cops in the small towns I was passing through, so I reset the monitor to see what it did under those conditions. I got 36 MPG on that trip according to the car. So your foot makes a huge difference, and I think it depends a lot on how much you stay in the port injectors and out of the direct injectors. You don't have to hypermile this car to get good fuel economy. |
Thats good to hear extrashakey ill be doing 70 highway 20 city and the rest on mountain roads
Why don't you look on Fuelly and look at aggregated results?

Ill try that now Alex

26 with FBM turbo kit
on fully i see that it averages at 26-27 mpg which is good enough for me honestly, thats probably with all the guys that whip up and down streets getting very low mileage
21-24, but I live near and work in Tampa so not much highway driving, lots of revving out low gears to make nice echoing sounds in between the buildings.

Since you already found Fuelly here's mine:
http://www.fuelly.com/car/scion/fr-s...tcaster/177974 Depends on the freeway, elevation changes, traffic and how aggressive I'm feeling. I can set the cruise control to 75, do some passing, zip around traffic, climb some hills and get 30 mpg all day long. I can set the cruise to 65 and poke along in the right hand lane and get ~34. I'd guess if you're comfortable cruising at 55 mph and drafting behind a semi-truck you could be comfortably in the high 30's. Never forget that the onboard computer overestimates how good your fuel economy is, and go for a test drive this thing is miles different from a mass market sedan/coupe from Honda or Toyota in terms of comfort and practicality. Edit: Don't forget to turn off the A/C when hypermiling, this car has little insulation so even at 'cool' the engine will still warm up the air in your face, might get another 1-2 mpg if I sweat it out but that's like $1-$2 per fillup at most. Edit 2: My car is a manual transmission, the automatics get better economy but if you have any desire to get the manual than do it. Just chugged through the math, assuming 25 mpg avg. vs. 28 mpg avg. and the MT being $1,100 cheaper than the AT you don't start saving money until you've driven 60,000 miles on the AT at $4.2/gallon. |
35.5 mpg after disconnecting/reconnecting my battery and doing an all-day drive, mostly on the freeway. Car was bone stock apart from a TRD cold-air intake and Optima sealed gel battery. That was on 90 octane fuel with NO ETHANOL in it.
26.5 mpg mixed driving for the last 5000 miles which, in the winter included warming my car up for nearly ten minutes every morning. Still bone stock apart from the intake and battery. Still running NO ETHANOL 90 octane from my local 76 station. My car has the automatic gearbox and was manufactured in May of 2013. I usually leave my car in "drive" with all of the driving aids off. I almost never use cruise control. Even at 6500 miles, just before my first oil change, my oil looked like fresh golden honey. Such a great little car. :-) |
I do about 50-65% City driving in ATL, somewhat hilly. But I shift according to the economy indicators and I try to get above 45 MPH in sixth asap.
Something to mention. Because of the read end gear final ratio driving over 70MPH does cause the MPG to drop quickly. I get over 30 MPG on interstate trips even driving 70 or a little above.
On my best fill ups with my TC I would barely reach 24mpg and was usually in the 23mpg range. With my FR-S my average just hit 24.3mpg and is still climbing. This is at 860 miles on the odometer. I think it will level off at 25 to 26 mpg.
I avg. 29.7 with some mixed city/highway driving, but I most drive main surface roads with about a 12 mile round trip commute every day. Also, good to note that I drive this car in a rather spirited manner. It's a surprisingly efficient car.
The frs and brz are pretty much the same right?
My average:
http://www.fuelly.com/car/subaru/brz...mav1178/210014 Been consistently worse in 2014 mostly due to 1-2 track events per month. Quote:

I recently went on an 8 hour roadtrip out of state and back and averaged ~33-34 MPG mostly interstate going between 65-75 MPH. I had two fill ups that day and did the calculations of miles on trip odo and fill ups. Did some hooning up to 90 MPH in some instances and was getting on and off of ramps going up to ~6K RPMs. I am definitely happy with my gas mileage.
30.8 even mix of city and highway.
So I reset the average MPG after my last post and drove 225 miles, mostly with the cruise control set on 67 but with a few good pulls after a few red lights. The average said 36.5 when I pulled up to the garage. Again, I don't know if the car's computer estimates that accurately, but I don't see why it would be far off.
I so fucking love this car. |

About 39 on the highways here. The 18K average is below...
I'm on Fuelly and average about 27 mpg. 32 on the highway is a myth. ;)
28 around town. 38-42 on the highway, depending on conditions

Drive like a grandma

2nd day driving new 2015. I was holding 40mpg Across Wyoming at 80mph. Now in Oregon I have dropped to 36.
But have passed the 1k mark, I think that will slip a bit.... |
Here's my fuelly profile: http://www.fuelly.com/car/scion/fr-s/2014/07Vios/287038
I do mostly freeway driving with 80+ miles a day. |
Whats your mileage?
I only have a little over 600 miles(not my DD)but I was averaging 24.5 mpg combined but then I switched to 93 octane and it inexplicably went to 22.6mpg combined WTF Lol. I do drive spirited. I have a manual.
Unless you post whether you have AT or MT its difficult to compare mileages. I would suspect that the majority of folks getting 30+ are driving AT. I'm currently getting around 29 mpg with MT. (40% city, 60% highway, no use of cruise control.)
MT, Always on Cruise....
Had mine only a week and still in break in but I have averaged 7.3 (L/100km) with the MT, TRD exhaust and intake. This is at about 75% highway (good ole 401) and the rest as short trips around town. I expect this mileage (kilometerage?)will take a nose dive once I hit that magic 1600km mark and start driving the car as it is meant to be driven. This is far better then the 8.8 combined I got with my 2012 Lancer GT. Not sure what fuel the Accord uses but keep in mind the FRS requires premium which (in my area at least) can cost you as much as 25 cents a liter more.
