Hello! I just bought my 2015 Asphalt FR-S in the South Bay and was wondering the same question. Any tips or local shops? I was looking at the BeatSonic products for front/back, need to wait for my plates to get in. Anyone know of other products/brands that are comparable?
Thanks! |
SiS can do backup cameras =)

@Moto-P has a cool backup camera setup that takes the place of a license plate screw on the club4ag FRS. Not sure the brand, but it looks super good.

i still find it weird that i am the only one with a dealer backup camera...
|
I have one. The trunk lid trim piece actually has a factory location for the camera to be mounted to the left of the license plate. Looks awesome there.

My honest hunch is that the dealerships honestly don't know shit about the cars... They mainly know how to sell the car and that is about it... If they dont see it in their book, they assume it doesnt exist, when it probably does... I have no seen this yet, but i have paper work showing that the FRS also can have a bumper sensor option, pretty sure most dealerships decided to not have that option. Quote:

^^agreed. The dealerships only know what they're told. Try asking them about a strut tower brace install, and you'll get a blank stare

Any chance you find the contact for the person that worked on yours? If not it's no big deal. Thanks! |

My install: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2023887 The install is pretty straightforward... I only had an issue inserting the pin that tells the head unit the 86 is in reverse. With some patience and the right tools should not be a problem though. 2014 6-speed Monogram (37J) |

Here's my back-up camera list... for the price of the Beatsonic adapter, you can almost get the harness AND cam!
I installed both over the weekend taking it CRAZY slow. About 4 hours. Most of the time was spent fishing wiring. The only thing you'll need apart from a 10mm and 8mm socket wrench is a wire crimpers/cutter (about an $10 part) and a drill. The kits below come with everything else you need (wiring, connectors, drill bit, hole saw). This kit includes the power so no need to tap anything. The only hitch is you need to find a ground wire. Easy to tap into that. 1. Back-Up Camera Wiring - $34 http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-BACK-UP-...=mtr#vi-ilComp 2. BOYO Vision VTB123HD Rear View Flush Mount Backup Camera - $50 [ame="http://www.amazon.com/BOYO-VTB123HD-Side-View-Camera/dp/B006SF69B0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416078921&sr=8-1&keywords=BOYO-Vision-VTB123HD+Flush-Mount-Backup-Camera"]Amazon.com : BOYO VTB123HD Side View and Rear View Dual Use Camera : Vehicle Backup Cameras : Car Electronics[/ame] UPDATED 1/9/15: Heads up guys - as I was thinking about this post, I left out some details. 1. You will ALSO need about 12 feet of positive wiring and 3 feet of negative wiring. A few bucks from the hardware store. Use like the 18 gauge thin wire. You'll need this as the kits don't give you this. 2. A U or O shaped connector to hook your ground wire to and bolt to the amp ground 3. For the back-up camera, the BOYO VTB I mention below is only 170 degrees and is a fixed mount. So this only shows about 8 feet behind your car. If you are looking for cars coming at you from the side, shoot for as close to 180 and wide angle / fish eye with a tilt option. This may cost more. I did a SONY rear camera and that was $100. |
that look nice on the car.
