Steering Wheel Seperation?

Anyone else have this issue? Not a big deal but the unequal space annoys me sometimes.

I'm noticing this now also. It isn't anywhere near as bad as yours but the right side has a little more of a gap now.

Warranty that in case it becomes a safety issue down the road.

Not to be rude, but how? Maybe if the airbag didn't go off in a collision and someone's body crushed against it.

Steering wheels are supposed to bend so they don't kill you if you hit them in a wreck. It's easier then you think to do it...

The interior of these cars doesn't seem to hold up well. At least in states where there is a large temperature range from what I've noticed.

I actually just noticed this morning as well. Mine is on the left side. Is it me or is it supposed to be like that?

The airbag module is held in by 3 bendable metal clips in a hole behind each of the steering wheel spokes, including 1 just behind your problem area. The clip might be loose? Try pushing that area of the airbag module to see whether it 'clicks' back into place first?

I've been able to bend steering wheels by simply pulling on one edge with enough force, it's not that difficult to bend.

But OP's pictures are from a straight on angle, and even though the gap is visible there's no way to tell if there's vertical seperation (which would suggest the steering wheel cover material lifting or center airbag seperating).

Maybe additional pictures would shed some light on this.

Hopefully if thats true then my efforts to keep the sun out will help. Car was tinted with a high heat rejection darker tint within week of purchase and religiously use sunshade when its not in the garage.

Your steering wheel is wicked dirty.

my gap is slightly more on the right than the left, but nothing as bad as the pic. I think that is how the crickets get in.

All the yellow is from the oil sticker in the windows reflection

Why do you have an oil change sticker in the window? I thought that was for granny's with dementia :D

Got the car serviced and never bothered to take it off. It does get annoying though.

Uhh, yea. I tried doing so but all I basically did was make a lot of noise. Haha! It still in an indented position. And now it's annoying me. Should I take mine to the dealer and let them explain to me how it happened and how to fix it?

Disconnect your negative terminal first then tinker around with it.

Do a warranty claim on that. Shouldn't be hard to get them to replace it for you.

Mine also marginally larger gap on right as others have described, not as bad as OP. Hope you get that taken care of via warranty.

By pushing it repeatedly.

Today I realized that when I swing my legs out of my car, I brace myself against the steering wheel with my right hand against that exact area. I suspect that the people having trouble with the trim separating are actually bending their steering wheels and pushing that trim apart little by little over time by using the steering wheel to lever themselves out of the car.

Upon close inspection, the gap on mine is ever so slightly larger on the right. Now that I've seen the pics here of the damage that can be caused, I think I'm going to be a lot more careful of what I grab onto.
