If you missed Centralia this is your next go-to event to have great fun and great competition.

colHolm 06-30-2014 11:14 AM

Still waiting for the wife to have our baby... I'll be likely be missing this one. Good luck! See you later in the month.

bumpity bump!

f0rge 07-02-2014 12:44 PM

I'll be at the OTA school otherwise I'd be there.

brzr 07-02-2014 08:36 PM

husband signed us up for this.........not sure how he's planning on both of us using my car, but i think i should stop this now, and make him take his own car

project d 07-02-2014 08:44 PM

apparently you can both drive the same car for this event. i asked about that because I wanted my brother to use my car too

engsr 07-02-2014 09:07 PM

Co-drives are welcomed and encouraged. We will just separate your numbers by 100 so there is some time in between your two runs.

f0rge 07-03-2014 10:42 AM

Quite a few people do co-drives. One guy and his wife share their Cayman S at most events.

Yeah! You remembered! Very cool to run into you here. I guess we both upgraded from our GS-R's. lol. I hope all is well with you!

engsr 07-05-2014 08:50 PM

Good to see another handful of FRS/BRZs today. The course was super tight in a few spots, especially the slalom. I can't remember a course there where I only needed to shift back into first just once.

Results should be officially posted by mid next week, and event 5 is in another two weeks. Again.

brzr 07-05-2014 10:21 PM

it was fun.......even though my husband beat me by 5 seconds........:(

well at least i find comfort that i had couple of people who were slower than me

yeah....i'm slow

7thgear 07-06-2014 10:20 AM

vids!

I am car number 11. Great to see what I think is a record number of FRS drivers out there. Keep coming out.

ParangWala 07-06-2014 01:36 PM

That turn before the slalom.....I hit the cone there on 3/5 runs *sigh* but none the less I had fun and I was car #101

engsr 07-06-2014 08:17 PM

^ For some reason I think I missed you/your car during the shuffle of the day. Hopefully you had your registration taken care of from last time.

As long as you weren't DFL. :D And, if you made improvements during the day, then you were doing something right.

My car is open for the first 3 runs, after that it gets serious :)

I recall some #1's....maybe it was @ParangWala

It was great to go with others and learn the course....
Also a good way to see how I should improve myself....my hands still tend to flail around but it's gotten so much better since the spda autocross
Next time I'll just duct tape them to the wheel ;)

yes, this was a very tight autocross and required some hand shuffling in a couple of spots, but overall the majority could be completed by keeping at the 9-3 position

the trick is also timing, because if you turn in too late, then you have to complete a tighter turn, which translate into having to require more steering input.

if your timing is correct and your inputs are quick, you'll find that all of a sudden turning the wheel only half way is sufficient.

please keep coming out! only one way to learn and that is to practice!

ParangWala 07-07-2014 10:27 AM

@brzr that was me
@engsr I honestly don't recall and I forgot about it...lol I can double check as that was for event #3 I believe.
@7thgear I liked the tighter course though, as it kept me on my toes hehe

Probably won't be going to the rest of the pitl events this year....I'm thinking of going to the one in Berrie in August if I have time for it....and I'll be going to the spda one in September...really looking forward to that one

Hand positioning is hard to learn on the fly. I tell drivers to "practice" during their daily drive, as eventually it becomes muscle memory. Once you get used to having your hands at "9 & 3" it's easy to know how much the steering wheel is turned and you don't have to look to see if it's back at the center.

If you want to see hands flailing:

It's easier for RWD because you can steer with the throttle. FWD, not so much, haha.
