CEL after OFH+OFT

Around 1 and a half months ago i put my OFH on the car... flash it to stg 2 and was all good. Today after some road driving im getting my first CEL ever.
How can i fix this? read the code?
Currently im in Brazil, where this car isnt imported officially, and the nearest car dealer authorize to work in the car is 1200km away. Big problem...

Any help would be appreciated

Use your OFT and read the code. No one can help you if we don't know what the code is.

how do i read the code? just connect and hit read?

cnk 06-22-2014 02:15 PM

Don't remember off the top of my head. Just connect it and go through the menu options. Should be pretty obvious.

When i go to diagnostics, my gt86, ECU fault codes, it throws code P0420, wich seems to be for something related to my cat... Which i dont have... Since i have OFH. So should i just tell it to clear the code? Or reflash stg 2 again?

You more than likely have an exhaust leak if you are getting that code with a stage 2 flash.

I agree with @Malt, had one on my car the first time I installed my header.

Did you use new gaskets?

Any which way, it's probably best to check your header bolts after 2-3 heat cycles as they loosen up a bit. Also, don't forget to check that the o2 sensors are tight.

dejxx 06-22-2014 04:22 PM

Got it. I uses new gaskets provided with the OFH. After install i never reajusted the bolts, so that might be the problem. Ill take it to the mechanic tomorrow morning.
After tightning everything should the code just go away? Or do i need to clear the code with OFT?

Just clear the code and you should be fine.

Hi,
You will just need to disable that particular code in Rom Raider. I think a few Stage 2 rom files slipped through the cracks with it still enabled. If you email me (shiv@vishnutuning.com) your CAL ID, I can do it for you.

dejxx 06-22-2014 05:45 PM

Shiv, whats the CAL ID, and how can i find it? (noob here). So i shouldnt take it to the mechanic to tight everything up? or should i just in case?

Currently in Hawaii with the wifey. And away from a laptop. But I'll be back home tomorrow and can update the stg2 file for you :)

Shiv@Openflash 06-22-2014 08:17 PM

Actually, i got to my laptop back at the hotel. Check your email... you now have a revised map :)

dejxx 06-23-2014 09:05 AM

Thanks a lot Shiv!!! all fixed here! i went and tight the bolts just in case, but the new map fixed right away! Amazing customer support!!! sorry to bother you on your vacations with the wife!!! Take care and thanks again!!!

So... Shiv, i got the CEL Error again, even after reflashing with the map you sent me, and tightening the bolts. Problem is.. Im in the middle of the road, and i have a 1.000km trip ahead of me. So right now im reflashing again with the same map. Please advice on what should i do!!! Do i need to reflash everytime, or should i just go to diagnostics and erase the code? (Same as before). Thanks

victorb 06-24-2014 03:31 PM

I think there's a leak somewhere

J_kennington 06-24-2014 04:03 PM

Just erase the code until you get wherever you are going...there's no need to reflash when you can just erase the code.

No need to keep reflashing the ecu. As other said, you can just clear the code. But are you sure you are seeing the P0420 and not something else?

dejxx 06-24-2014 07:23 PM

When i go to clear error code, P0420 pop ups. Just stopped for today, and no CEL yet after the reflash i did on the road. If it pops again ill clear it, and will check for leaks again.
Dumb question, but is it possible that the fuel (98 RON, but it has 20% alcohol...) ita the one causing this?

The P0420 code is disabled in the ROM file I sent you. So if you are still getting it, it's likely you didn't load the file correctly :)

P0420 should have nothing to do with fuel formations or exhaust leaks.

Mmmm im a noob with this stuff... Heheheh
I deleted the file from the OFT then uploaded the one you sent me. Close everything, pluggued into car, tunning, selected the file (it has a * next to it) and write it. Anything i did wrong? CEL did come back this morning, cleared it, drove 600km and didnt got it again... So far. Hhhehe

If it the pO420 cat efficiency code again then you have not flashed the correct file or shiv stuffed up , highly unlikely .:)

Try erasing all the tune files from oft then just load the one shiv sent you, might be worth changing the file name on the one shiv sent you so you definitly know you loaded and flashed correct file

If you loaded correct file that pO420 code cannot come up

The * just tells you what map slot was flashed to the car previously, not which map. If you change maps around it will still show the old slot flashed with that *.

dejxx 06-25-2014 07:55 PM

OK thanks for the advice guys! ill reload the map onto the OFT tomorrow and flash the car again just to be sure. Lets hope that fixes it!
