How much would a dealership charge to replace all four injectors?

I keep hearing a popping noise every time I start her up... I went FI while my car had 23k miles on it, now I have 25k and I hear this popping sensation in my car.. I'm pretty sure it's the direct injections. How much would a dealership charge to fix it?

As each dealership probably would quote you a different price, there's no way to tell without calling.

That said, what makes you think it's the injectors? And (if they are defective) what makes you think replacing them will fix the issue that caused them to go bad in the first place?

I'm going to ballpark $2-5k for engine repairs through the dealer to fix your problem - unless they won't even touch a modified engine bc they can't warranty their work, in which case they would probably say return it to stock, and then they can look in to it, or suggest you buy a whole new engine.

From your post it's impossible to say really, but I'd go through the shop that installed your FI system (supercharger or turbo?) and see what they say. Though if they messed up the job, they might not be the best shop to have working on your car.

Good luck.

Edit: my other car has an aftermarket supercharger added, though it was arranged through the dealer but sent to Dinan for installation, it's still aftermarket. Whenever I have work done it costs extra bc they have to remove the supercharger to get to the valve covers, etc. And then of course they have to re-install it when they're done. No fun. Ok, the supercharged V8 is fun, the maintenance costs - not so much fun.

Why would the injector make a popping noise? Also, can't you try to pinpoint which one it is using the GTS Active Test stuff?

the local shop charged me 1 hour of shop time to replace my aftermarket injectors

You're referrring to your standard fuel injectors, OP is referring to the Direct Injection injectors which would be in the head.

do you get the popping noises after its warmed up?
not uncommon to hear a pop or feel a "miss" when cold, but should not occur after warmup.

ok look, so look I'm in my car, I turn the steering wheel completely to the right in a complete stop, I turn on the ignition and I hear a pop coming from the right. at start. the car also starts shaking very violently from that side.

Don't count on it being injectors. Lots of things make pop sounds in the exhuast

Reaper 06-18-2014 01:52 PM

Sounds like di seals.

it's only when the steering wheel is turned completely to the right though.. when I turn it on and it's straight, no noise. when I'm on a slope, noise

Then it would seem pretty obvious that the injector have nothings to do with it!

The "shaking" probably is because you are at the steering limit and are overloading/stalling the PS.

There seems to be a simple solution...don't crank the steering wheel full right before starting the engine.

It happens even when a start it normal and drive it for about an hour or so

I would take the car to a mechanic rather than just randomly replacing things. It sounds like you are throwing parts at the problem.

ntron1 06-22-2014 11:02 PM

Take it back to the tuner that put your Turbo In and have them check your Muffler Bearings. I'll bet #3 is blown...

whataboutbob 06-23-2014 02:15 AM

It would be a good idea to check your DI seals. If they are bad and you continue to drive the car you'll probably be paying for motor work soon. I just recently had the popping issues with my car and tore into the DI injectors and replaced all of the seals. I've been FI'd for 20K+ with lots of Autox days.

They weren't bad, but they were pretty well cooked. I also had a P0302 show up but it didn't keep the CEL illuminated.
