The Following was my first post

Hi. Not new to the forum, but lurked for a while. Was originally in the market for a Supra but the wife liked the FRS better ***I know***. Anyways, I bought the FRS back in April 2013 and slowly learned as much as I could before purchasing anything. Haven't told many people, but, I decided to do a 2JZ swap.

There's a LOT left in this build, hell the FA20 is still in the car, but it's moving faster now. I purchased my 2JZ/V160 setup almost a month ago and I've been tearing it down to put goodies on it.

First brought it home

Ok, it's a new car, not much to look at, but I wanted to preserve the paint as best as I could. Moving along...

Picked up some KW v3's, Raceseng CasCam plates, Raceseng shock tops, B2 20mm(f)/25mm(r) spacers and SPL LCA's, no pics of LCA's/spacers, but they're pretty billet.

Friend Ross at Trust Automotive installed my suspension. Props!

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps7de6c726.jpg

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...psea8af40b.jpg

Also bought some interior pieces. All black from the EU GT86 spec, as well as Raceseng slammer knob and reverse lockout.
http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps36df4e77.jpg

I think that does it for looks for now. Suspension handles very well, but not extremely noticeable compared to stock. Stock works great in this car!

So, then I bought my 2JZ/V160. Buddy Ryan from Mike Balf racing helped source and even helped me pick up the motor! Four hour drive!

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps40b2d740.jpg

At this point, I was taking the manifolds off just to clean the head better. I took off the exhaust manifold to see the valves:

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...psfd9c5763.jpg

I wanted to just clean/replace the seals, but ultimately I decided to do some more.

Who knows what else will change in this setup, but it's happening and all I can do is move forward now! Thanks!

suaveflooder 06-10-2014 11:53 PM

Couple of these are starting! LOVE it!

Sexy. ID2000s are pretty beefy, I was using 1000's and still had room for play at 600WHP, what are your goals with this?

ModBargains 06-11-2014 11:24 AM

This is something I need to see

jdm-az-fuk 06-11-2014 12:22 PM

I hope someone actually finishes one of these. All the swapped 86s are shop cars. I really can't believe no one has made conversion parts yet. The market will be huge.

Biddys 06-11-2014 12:48 PM

frs 2jz

Portland speed industries can handle all your conversion needs.

Deep 9s. I chose the 6466 because I got a good deal on it and I'm holding out on the rear end for a little bit because of the cost. I'll be working on this in stages. First stage is getting it all in, second stage is build rear end, cage, bigger turbo, nitrous.

SLC_BRZ 06-11-2014 01:01 PM

This is going to be epic.

people are gonna be on you like flies on shit. "let me see it rip a few gears" "come on lets do a highway pull"

Top-Secret 06-29-2014 09:57 AM

looking forward to seeing this done...... please get it done

SrtWtF 06-29-2014 10:50 AM

You in south fl? What shop is helping you complete this

inertia 06-29-2014 11:54 PM

As stated on another post of mine, there's not that many "high hp" & "daily driven" 86s on here. Seems like people either give up half way through their project or end up selling it. Hope to see you complete this project.

Nissota 06-30-2014 12:13 AM

look forward to seeing more on this project.... what targets are you going for?

suaveflooder 06-30-2014 02:26 AM

Is it done yet?! ;)

slicktop 06-30-2014 08:22 AM

The build is still at full force. That said, there won't be much actual work done on the car until September. But I work on it daily and I very much won't disappoint.

Goals for the car are deep 9's, daily driven with full accessories. It's planned on being done in waves.

First wave
Motor swapped in, running and driving.

Second wave
Accessories and extras all working.

Third/Final wave
Built rear end, larger turbo, nitrous(?)

My wife will be driving the car as well, and it just gets too hot here in VA during the summer. Last week my temp gauge read 114...
@Ross is the guy doing all of the tuning, custom fabrication and overall button up. I will be dropping the FA20, installing the 2J and building the Mil-Spec harness. All in all, Ross will be doing the major work while I take care of the simpler things.

slicktop 07-09-2014 10:25 PM

So, I was at work last night and a guy I work with came up and told me he hit my car. I always back my car in and he had backed in his F150 next to my drivers side. Anyway, he pulls out to the right without pulling forward and his rear tire basically rides up my fender and onto my front bumper.

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps31e7d0f4.jpg

I'm going to take it to a body shop tomorrow and get an estimate.

King Tut 07-10-2014 10:13 AM

RIP guy you worked with.

Diode Dynamics 07-10-2014 10:30 AM

I was so bummed when I saw this on the Supra Forums...I hope the body shop gets it fixed 100% for you quick

I need more updates!

FL plate but live in VA? I had hoped you were in South FL :D

Ross is awesome so you are in great hands.. but you already knew that.

Synack 07-10-2014 01:52 PM

Oh boy everytime I see these threads I hit up Craigslist and eBay for 2JZ's and figure out how much I can sell my built motor turbo FA20 for. I then proceed to look up cheap cars that I can use as a backup while the 2J is being installed and worked on. I hate these thoughts, work never gets done.

I'm from Boca Raton, FL. Military put me here. It's similar weather to Florida during the summer without the hurricanes and awesome thunder storms.

I'm making the military a career for myself. Good benefits, good pay. It's a steady way of life for me. I'll be making it down there this fall/winter, though!

IIDutch 07-10-2014 10:58 PM

Oh gawd, I really didn't need to see a blacked out frs after buying my firestorm haha so sexy! Sorry to hear about the front end, happened to a friend of mine on here but the person didn't have the decency to tell him.
This build is already great, and as I mentioned, the blacked out frs looks so so good. I just wish I could afford to get a black one as well just to black it out haha

SomeoneWhoIsntMe 07-12-2014 09:52 AM

PLEASE keep your stock fender and mail it to me after they replace it. haha

slicktop 08-06-2014 10:00 AM

Car was fixed. Little things about the repairs that annoyed me but the paint is a flawless match. That's the real bread and butter.

Project is still going forward!

Also, the old fender/bumper are gone... sorry man.

inertia 08-17-2014 10:52 PM

I wish I had the cash to drop a 2J or LS in my car. I noticed that you sold your AEM V2, which EMS are you going with?

Going with ProEFI.

update: Decided to purchase a harness today. As soon as the harness reaches my doorstep, the FA20 comes out.

You sir are the man. Woman jokes aside, i tried to teach my wife stick on every car I've owned. I had a semi-built 89 300ZX with a 6 puck ACT clutch the only car my wife could drive without much issue. Go figure

As it stands today, she's been driving it more than I have. I like driving our SUV, though, so it works out.
