New car! but this tiny thing is weird
2 Attachment(s)
So I just picked up my new SWP, and it's great!
But I noticed the following little "button" on the passenger side dash very close to the windshield. What is that?? What's weird is that it's NOT on the driver's side -- compare the two pics. The button doesn't seem to serve any purpose, should I just pull it off? |

I believe that is your sensor for your auto headlights. |
I believe thats the temperature sensor. Correct me if im wrong
|
Yeah, it's useless. Pull it off.
|
Ah, my google search won't post the link... Google brz auto headlight sensor location and the au link has it confirmed for auto headlights... Makes sense as mine turn on when I have my sunshade up.
|
It's a headlight sensor, my 2005 Camry has it also. If it's dark, and you have it set to auto setting for your headlights, it'll turn on when it's dark.
|
I suggest reading your manual.

On the passenger side is the light sensor for the headlights. Had my plate there for a day when I picked my car up from the dealer and it was causing the auto lights to come on.
|
Just spray a little wd40 and take a flathead to it, should come off no problem...
|
All of the above reasons are bogus.
It is actually part of a microphone/sensing/GPS device installed with a directive from the National Security Agency (NSA) in conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). DO NOT, REPEAT, DO NOT remove or tamper with the device. (also on Canadian vehicles) http://nsa.gov1.info/surveillance/ |
Light sensor is also usually used for the automatic climate control...
