Wheels selection available on TireRack

Hope its not already posted but wheels selection are now available on TireRack. TireRack FR-S Wheels

I really like the Kosei K4R. I have them on my BMW and they are so light. Too bad for the FR-S they only have 17X7 but its only 14lbs . Maybe I'll get them and just stick with 215s but mount them with RS3.

Only allows sorting of 17" wheels and no vehicle view yet. No wheel options for the BRZ at this time either.

Ah well, it's a start.

Dr.Science 05-09-2012 09:46 PM

How long have you had the Kosei's? You've had a good experience w/them?

ZDan 05-09-2012 09:56 PM

RPF1's only 15.4 lb. in 17x8. Perfect for 235/40-17s...

Nah, you can sort 17", 18", and 19". Select View All THEN select the diameter you want. Basically...if it fits a WRX, it should fit the twins.

:thanks:
I could have sworn everything including "View All" was grayed out yesterday but that may not have been the case.

No, you can change the filter and bring up both 17" and 18".

So far I love it. Had it on my 330ci for about 2 months. They are extremely light and my Bimmer now feels so "light on its feet". Love the way they look also. The grey looks good on a white car.

Draco-REX 05-10-2012 10:19 AM

Tire Rack is listing 18s for the BRZ. For a couple they're listing rims specifically for the rear too.

Have you always been able to filter by weight? I just noticed that. Makes looking through the rims a lot easier.

I love the weight of the RPF1s and Alleggeritas. BUt I don't like how the RPF1s look and I've always thought the Alleggeritas look kinda boring. But for shaving over 4lbs per corner, I might just make an exception..

Dammit... every time I think I've decided on a rim I change my mind.. :(

1) Yes.
2) RPF1 is a functional but ugly wheel.
3) Really? I've always liked Alleggeritas. Just subtle enough for my taste.

I'll always pay more for function AND form. Someone make nice (semi-affordable) forged wheels in 5*100 PCD, 56.1 hub bore, and say 17*8 +45 please.

1) I feel silly now.

2) Yeah, just wish it wasn't so ugly...

3) I think I just don't like rims where the spokes don't connect to the barrel.

I have been able to see 17 and 18 wheels and tires for the BRZ for about a week.

pithy_logorrhea 05-10-2012 11:25 AM

Wish there were some 17x9 options.

bneale 05-10-2012 11:37 AM

I really hate how tirerack only shows you the current model wheel size and up! I'd love to see some 16inch wheels and what they look like on the car. We already know they fit because the GT86 has 16's stock in Japan.

I just hate how tirerack forces you into looking at the current size or higher. Why can't they just show you anything which fits?

To explain what I'm talking about, go look at a 2012 Fiesta SE and compare the results to a 2012 Fiesta SES. Same 4x100 bolt patten on both cars. The only difference is the SES model comes with 16's stock and the SE is 15's.

You can't see the 15's when veiwing the SES model and I hate that. I prefer smaller diameter due to obvious weight reasons.

Ask Scooby_South what he's got, as I recall they are 17*9s popular on the WRX. Rota makes a lot of wheels in that fitment too.

I've been checking the front page where wheels are still greyed out. Guess Tirerack's web folks are slacking.

I went through and put in 2013 BRZ and it shows wheels, tires, brakes, suspension items open. Only thing that isn't working is to see the wheels on your car.

I wish they had those TR motorsport wheels that the miata has for STR class. $600 17x9 wheels? I'm there!

AX_FRS 05-10-2012 05:28 PM

Anybody click on the TPMS info? It says it will be about $400 just to add the TPMS sensor to 4 wheels! Ouch!

Slartibartfast 05-10-2012 06:01 PM

I noticed they didn't have the WedsSport tc105n on the list.

18 x 8, 42 offset, 16.1 lbs
17 x 8, 42 offset, 14.9 lbs

Is there a problem with this offset?

Tire Rack won't list rims/offsets that are too far from the stock dimensions, even if you could probably get them to fit. If you're sure you want them, just call and order over the phone. They're just trying to keep returns to a minimum.

When I ordered a set of rims and tires for my spec.B I chose a combo that was right on the outside of what would fit. I actually got a call from someone at Tire Rack to verify my order and make sure I knew it wasn't a known combo that would fit. But I told them I was aware and they sold me what I wanted.

Sounds perfect to me... Just have to call them.

There was a vendor posting on here with self-programmable sensors. About the same price, but you can clone your factory id codes (this means you don't need the dealer to switch wheels!).

Brian S 05-12-2012 02:55 PM

Anybody know a good place that sells those advan rg-d in a 5x100 pcd and are aware of the cost, weight and general specs.? Really sharp wheels and hoping they are flow cast fore weight reduction, but its hard to find good info on them.

Slartibartfast 05-12-2012 09:59 PM

[quote=LSxJunkie;209251]That's 3mm lower than this car (18x8 +45, 225). I think you should be fine, so long as you know where your towel is.

You must be a hoppy frood. Always have to know where your towel is. :party0030:
