Nice flat tq curve! Is the boost creeping up a lil towards redline? So after tuning this car do you think all greddy kits should put out this same power on this engine?

Well the boost creeping is the cause from the air flow from the exhaust side. The kit is rated with 7psi of boost but with the better air flow its causing the boost pressure to go up a few psi. We hit the same number on 100 octane a few weeks ago. But most of them we are tuning is around 260-270whp.

For anyone questioning going with this kit or FI in general it is worth every penny!

@EvasiveMotorsports what does your fuel system consist of? Also I dont see an oil cooler, any reason for not running one with this kit?

What is your strategy for keeping the torque flat all the way to redline. Most plots I see besides centrifugal a show it start to drop at 6700-7000 rpm

No video or sound!! This is demanded!! Love the car.

Will be adding one before it heats up again in SoCal, waiting to see if anything new and improved comes out for 2014.

@midnight23 how much psi are you running, how big are the exhaust mods? My GReddy kit gave out 225 whp on mustang dyno on 91 gas and 7 psi (stock injectors/ fuel pump). I currently have Perrin overpipe, perrin frontpipe and ark exhaust, all 2.5" diameter. I want those numbers!!!

so 7 psi creeping up to 9-10 psi. I wonder if this is why the torque curve looks so flat up top.

So im guessing they had to install a modified actuator then right? The kit wont let you go past 7psi! It opens the wastegate. And what does he mean w better airflow? Does he mean the exhasut mods are making it creep up? Im a noob... Excuse my nubiness

No, same actuator. Just because a wastegate is rated to 7 psi doesn't mean it will hold 7 psi.

If the wastegate is too narrow/small it won't be able to vent the necessary exhaust gas which will allow all that extra gas to go through the turbo's turbine. This causes higher boost pressures than desired and manifests as "creep". The solution is A. run a higher wastegate spring (if you are ok with the higher psi level) or B. enlarge the wastegate (which is hard to do on an internally gated turbo).

When you free up the exhaust significantly, you increase the efficiency of the turbo and you may gain some psi from that.

Ah i understand :). Thank you. At least I havent observed any creep in mine, my gauge reads 7 maybe 8 at some point almost redline. Anybody know exhasut diameter @midnight23 is running?

Also, exhaust diameter is only one thing. You have to look at:

1. # of exhaust bends
2. bend angles
3. are the pipes mis-aligned at the flanges causing turbulence
4. type of muffler

My guess (if your exhaust is adequate) that the discrepancy in power between the two of you is primarily tuning based and also the extra 2-3 psi.

I am also running a high flow cat so that probably has an effect on my overall #'s... Positives of this is my car doesnt stink lol

Awesome that means I have potential :). Did they switch out the wastegate for a higher one? Or is it the boost creep

Nope turbo is unmodified it's just tuning and boost creep

@midnight23 Whats your average mpg at? Have you noticed significant gas cosumption with the larger injectors/fuel pump?

Surprisingly enough I'm getting better mpg than my NA setup. I average 30-32 highway so far that is with 4 pulls. It's really great ! I was using a 1/4 tank to go to LA and back and now it's less than that.

Pablitomarrero 01-26-2014 12:27 AM

really? awesome. Thats more or less what im getting. I guess you only use up alot more gas at WOT

Yea I did about 80 miles of stop and go cruising yesterday and average dropped to 27~ using about 1/4 tank so i'm quite surprised with how little it uses.
