Haven't seen a thread for these wheels, so I figured I'd start a new one.

I've been looking for an inexpensive gunmetal wheel for a while that I can use on the car for daily driving, and came across these when I was browsing Discount Tire Direct. Here's the best part - these suckers were $358 shipped to my door from them, which included some special promotion they were running at the time with a $50 off coupon (usually run that promotion every few months). They kind of remind me of a less aggressive 57Xtreme.

Here are some pics; I'll have them mounted up shortly on OEM suspension, and then next weekend they'll be on RCE Tarmac 2 coilovers, so I'll post pics then as well.


Tires are another good deal I found; GT Radial Champiro UHP1's, it's a 280 treadwear summer tire, not many people in the US are running them, but seem popular in Australia. They were $300 shipped to my door through Discount Tire Direct for a 245/40R17.

it's a good cheap wheel, not the lightest but does the job. I got the same wheel in the tire size. Here's a shot if you were wondering how it will look:

How much do you poke with these wheels? I ordered the 17x9 +28 because they were the only ones in green, and according to the wheel fitment calculator the fronts would only poke 3mm.

Looking at your picture though, yours looks like a perfect fitment for your ride height. What size tires too? I ordered 255/40 Nitto's.

No poke, I run rs3's 245/40/17. Basically add 10mm to my photo and that's how yours will look

Yep, but from the picture you provided it already looks flush. How close are you?

I'm not looking for poke, and if anything I'd like to keep things inboard a bit.

Your front tires don't sit inside the fender by a half inch, do they?

Here are pictures on the STOCK suspension. I should have pictures on RCE T2 coilovers by this weekend.

Definitely makes the wheel gap more pronounced as the face of the rim sits out further. With the stock wheels tucked into the wheel wells it isn't as noticeable.

Even my wife, who is against me modifying the car, told me that I needed to lower it, lol, so for any of you who are in the same situation, get the wheels first; it'll convince other family members that the car needs to be lowered!

Wow, thanks for all those pictures. That put me at complete ease setting where your wheels sit width-wise.

I had the +28's on order, but after seeing this thread I have cancelled those and have now gone with the +38. With a drop it should be about perfect!

Looking forward to seeing your car dropped and how well the tires tuck. Are you going for an alignment at the same time? Do you have camber numbers in mind?

Yep, alignment and corner balancing next week. Pretty much just going for max camber with OEM top hats and crash bolts

I'm sold on these. Great looking and inexpensive!

I have been considering these wheels for a while. They look great and I think I am sold.

Also, those tires look good but they are so cheap I've always overlooked them. What are your impressions? Sticky? Stiff sidewalls? I guess only time will tell with wear.

TL;DR
Great wet traction, good tread life, great braking, soft sidewall, and overall not a super aggressive-driving tire.


I just got my wheels and tires in. Tried to mount them up (255/40 N555's) and they rub against the spring perch. I'm looking for coilovers and LCA's now, ugh.

I'll be posting up some driving reviews shortly; only took them around the neighborhood for a spin so far after install.

Was this $50 coupon per wheel? That's a damn good price. I've decided on getting these after I sel off the 18's I'm on now.

Should look even better of you decide to lower it a good inch to inch and half.

It was $50 total; the wheels were like $102 before the coupon I think, and DTD always does free shipping on everything.

Got my wheels and tires in. @smbstyle I hope you don't mind me posting here, but I figured this thread was more for the wheels than the tires themselves.

I went with the same setup, but Discount ordered me the incorrect wheel, so I have the black with the red ring.

Tires, I opted for a 255 fit, and the salesman I dealt with gave me the Nitto N555's for the same price as the Falken's I was looking at, so I took those.

I originally had camber bolts installed up front and had them cranked full negative (never had an alignment, I just took them for whatever they gave me), but with these wider tires they didn't fit. I reinstalled the factory crash bolts and these wheels/tires just cleared. I snapped a couple pictures, but didn't drive any further than that. The car is now up on stands, waiting for me to decide on coilovers and lower control arms.

Just as an add on to this. Drag doesn't sell touch up paint or have a paint code for the paint they use on these rims(I called). I found that Duplicolor Graphite Metallic (NG CC 414 in the 1/2 oz. paint pen) is an almost perfect match for the rims. You will chip them, the finish isn't the best.

@smbstyle I think your drop is damn near perfect. I love the look of these cars with a bit of height on them still, and with the meaty tires it looks fantastic!

Did you end up using aftermarket LCA's? It's probably not necessary with the drop as mild as you have it, but I'll be interested to see where your rear camber numbers end up after you get it aligned and corner balanced.

Stock LCAs, stock top hats, just the OEM crash bolts up front. I will post up alignment numbers on Wednesday after the alignment and corner balance.
