Olorin's GBS BRZ Innovate Stage 2
I've been working on this since last year, I got mine on Sept 19, 2013.

Future Mods:
12/26 Installed Perren Exhaust, sounds really great. 01/06 Received Innovate SC w/ Intercooler from @CSG 01/07 Starting install in my spare time 01/14 Finished install 02/09 Installed Radium dual catch cans 03/26 Installed Forester XT oil cooler |
Nice list. Are you planning on getting wheels/tires next? That'd help you lay down that delicious power.
|
Yeah, I really like the old Type-C SSR rims so if I can find a set or something similar I might go in that direction. I also like the new SSR GT V01 rims, its too bad the offsets suck. I'll probably go 17x8.5 and somewhere around 235 with Michelin PSS.
The budget can only take so much each month :) I've been driving my Forester XT for a few months since its winter time (which is the first FI car I have owned) and I took my BRZ out for a ride today. I have to say it felt like driving a turtle. I'm really looking forward to installing the SC. |

Good luck with the install! Great items planned too.

Thanks, I have the SSR wheels on order, I went with 18x8.5.

very nice!

I feel like either I am missing something in the install manual or the manual is missing something on the drivers side (4.12). I had to remove one of the fuel lines (right) in order to get the injector cover off and remove the manifold:
http://i.imgur.com/f9OvRijl.png They are a pain to get off and I rolled a bit of plastic (15mm x 35mm) that I cut from a paint can top to shim into the connector to release the fuel line. http://i.imgur.com/jQCwd3Cl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/jSHfuVZl.jpg |

Getting closer:
http://i.imgur.com/u2bEnuql.jpg Putting the new manifold on was a real pain. I had to remove the ECU and cut the tape bundling the harness wires to allow for enough room for the rear passenger side of the manifold to fit. The absolute worst part of the install so far is attaching the brake booster and evap to the crappy plastic L barbs-- such a tight fit. Now all thats left is to route the intercooler piping and intake. According to Bill @Delicious my cable+tune is shipping today so hopefully I can fire it up early next week. |
Got bored while waiting for my tune:
http://i.imgur.com/xgv59m7l.jpg Everything is installed minus the intake tube and I need to fill with coolant. |
Intake painted and installed

Got a bum cable with my EcuTek license and tune so while I wait for the new cable I got some hella panther horns I figured I would install:
http://i.imgur.com/VjU1hiWl.jpg Also ordered the radium dual catch can setup. |
Added Hella Horn (and DIY).
http://i.imgur.com/EE5QlVpl.jpg I'll post a better picture once I can actually drive outside. Got a new EcuTek cable and flashed the ECU. Car started up no issue, hopefully will take it out and do some data logging at lunch. |
Nice. I've always loved the look of the Hellas in Subaru grilles, but I've never actually heard them in person.
I'm interested to hear what you think of the Innovative kit at altitude here in Denver. As much as people complain about the 86's power being a kick in the nuts, the added altitude just adds a slap to the face. |
In regards to your tire choice. Remember a 225/40/18 MPSS is going to fit like most other brands 235/40/18 due to nature of the MPSS tire. A 245/40/18 on a 8.5 wide wheel would almost have a roll over wheel edge appearance. Each to their own but a 225/40/18 MPSS would be likely very square in appearance and be a better ratio as well more in line with ratio of stock for speedometer. Something to consider anyhow. Nice build so far!! :)

Looking forward to hearing your impressions. I just installed the intercooler upgrade, I've been running the stage 1/tuner kit for about 6 months.

I'm also waiting for Bill to review my logs from my first drive. |
Another option I should mention which I just seen myself today is the Nitto Invo tire in either a 225/40/18 or 245/40/18 max size for you wheels. Very unique tire tread for a summer tire and a few guys that auto x were at shop I was at talking about em and love em. Say they take a beating and are a great street tire.

looks good keep updating this!
|
Installed Radium dual catch can. The fit and finish of this kit is impressive as are the instructions-- full color. Its a pretty easy install on the Innovate SC. I'll update with pics shortly.
|
Nice work! Keep updating us

Got a new (70mm) pulley, going to flash later:
http://i.imgur.com/3ldIPUWl.jpg Came with red loctite, real pain to remove. |
Installed Forester XT oil cooler. Turned into a flood on my garage floor. Works great though.
I shortened the OE 5/8 heater hose in the back of the engine by 3 inches to bring the molded bend closer to the pipe. This prevented the hose from getting kinked. Excellent DIY: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50427 |
Just ordered @Raceseng CasCam w/Spring Perch. Probably install it next week.
I'm also think of future mods, perhaps a lighter axle, flex fuel kit, and various suspension additions. |
|
Installed Raceseng CasCam plate:

Mounted SSR GT F01 with Michelin Pilot Super Sports 225/40R18. Wheels weigh 17.4 pounds without tire. I got Kics Project Leggdura close ended lugs nuts from @fteightysix (+1 on the prompt shipping from them, would buy from them again). I had a hard time finding close ended lugs that I liked. I also considered the greddy short lugs but everyone seem to be out of stock at the time.

Installed @Moto-East flex fuel kit and tune. The documentation is excellent-- its online which is great to use with a tablet. I extend the fuse tap so I could mount the display in the glove box.
Now I have to burn through 3/4 of a tank of 91. |
I'm super jelly, great build so far. Not really anything I'd do differently!
|
Thanks, I am trying to pace myself. I want to do a BBK, Rear LCA, Catted Headers, Intake, RacesEng flywheels, drive shaft... the list goes on.
|
I'm selling my brz with all the mods (17k worth of mods) -- not going to part anything out. Currently has just over 6k miles, never tracked, raced, and has never spent the night outside. PM if you are interested.
