OpenFlash Tablet E85 (and gasoline) Maps now available
Hi guys,
New FREE maps (v1.34) can now be downloaded from our website. These include our new E85 maps. As per the Read Me File (please read carefully): 11/18/13 v1.34beta Changes: -Revised VVT Exhaust mapping for more power above 7200rpm in all tuned ROMs -Implemented Soft Rev limiter feature in all tuned ROMs -Revised Idle Target mapping for lower engine speed during cold start (by popular request) -Added E85 maps for US Market ROMS (C and D series). This map is intended for cars running straight E85 fuel. As with all of our maps, this is intended for cars equipped with stock airbox housing. Aftermarket filter and modified duct is recommended for maximum power. Please note that this map was calibrated on a car with aftermarket carless header. It has not yet been tested on vehicles with stock header. -Updated XDF files for all ROMs. Non-US XDF files still aren't complete but they are slightly more developed than last release. Other info: Currently, we recommend only running straight E85 fuel with out E85 map. This means running your gasoline level low (until low fuel light comes on) and then filling up with E85. And from that point onwards, running straight E85 with each additional fill up. During the next couple of weeks, we will be doing testing on various ethanol % contents to determine how flexible the tune. Until then, we recommend sticking with straight E85 if you choose to run the E85 tune. When you want to go back to running gasoline, just run the tank of E85 low and then fill up with gasoline. But don't forget to flash your ECU with the gasoline tune map or else your tune will be much too aggressive! Please note that we have revised cold cranking fuel enrichment so that the engine starts up first try in the morning when running E85. But our cold mornings here in CA haven't been that cold (45F). As the winter drags on, and temps drop, we will probably revise these tables a bit. So if you live in a winter wonderland, don't be surprised if you need to crank the engine a couple of times before it finally starts first thing the morning. Now that on-screen data viewing is functional, here's some more info on what you should see when running the E85 tune: - At full throttle, AFR should be in the 12.5-12.8 range - At full throttle, long-term fuel trims should be well within +/- 4%. Immediately after the flash, it will be 0%. But then it will slowly adapt over time. As long as you are running the stock airbox, it shouldn't move around much. If you are an aftermarket intake and see big fuel trims, this map may not be suitable for you. Lastly, if anyone has any issues with the E85 map, please email me directly at shiv@vishnutuning.com. Cheers, Shiv |
So excited. Just added 2 gallons of fuel this afternoon so I need to go find a reason to burn off those to fill up with E85! Thanks shiv, I don't think I've been so excited about a mod in quite a while.

This is exciting news. What sort of issues (running rich, running lean, retarded timing) do you think is going to arise with a stock header and the tune?

nvm went thru tunerpro comparison. looks good

Is there a stage 1 premium gas map included in 1.34? Thanks! So glad I bought into this platform, loving the constant activity and development!

@shiv@vishnu - At a minimum, do I only need this e85 tune to run E85 on my car with success? or do I need more than just the tune to run E85?
|
@shiv@vishnu
So there's no Stage 1 E85 map, correct? Catless headers are required to safely run this tune? |
|
This is exciting Shiv! good work! I am still waiting for FI support :) Also Bravo on Data logging!
|
Great news guys - if you have E85 convenient to you it's a whole different world. I'm pretty surprised the E85 maps are so tolerant of fluctuations in ethanol conent - I guess with a NA motor the benefits of full E85 are overkill? It would be good to define the minimum ethanol content necessary for this map, as well as how the long term trims adapt.

Too bad I literally just filled up last night, didn't realize this would be released so early in the week. But I'm definitely excited to try it out. Luckily I only go through a tank in about 2 days or so.
|
I've got E85 *relatively* close. I'll try it out soon. Just filled up yesterday.
|
yay, I just put a half of tank of regular in this morning though. Guess I'll be having some fun when I get off work hehe
|
I've only got about a gallon or so to burn off before filling up. I should be able to take care of that on the way to the gas station since its about 15 miles away.
EDIT: Just out of curiosity is there a proper place to submit feature requests/suggestions? I'd be interested in the possibility of a fuel economy map for long trips where "performance" isn't the main concern. I do understand it might not exactly be wanted by everyone but surely I'm not the only one that would like a map that could result in a couple more MPG's for longer trips and then flashing back to a normal map when the trip is over. |
Darn I just filled up last night thinking it would be another week for your lower level of E testing lol. This is going to be painful to wait on.
Either way though big yay on this. I will make my changes so far for the AiRaid and move them over waiting for that moment I can hit E85! Until then 1.34 looks like it will be loaded in just a few minutes! Thanks again! |

Are all current testers equipped with catless headers?
I'm personally not and I'm concerned the tune will be too aggressive Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk |
Looks like you're pulling a crap-ton of timing at 7600 for that soft rev limiter. Interested to try this at autoX. :) Oh and I don't see why everyone was barking about cold idle targets. They seemed fine to me. But my car isn't straight piped anymore so....

MMMMM Corn Juice! Had some funny looks while I was flashing the map over but it wasn't like there was a huge line for the E85 pump  First impressions: Not sure if the cold start happens if you've just reflashed or not but if so the new start is nice and smooth. Definitely not wake your neighbors up loud like the 1.33 map was. I'll have to wait and see after the car has sat for a while to see if it will always sound like this on startup. If so, many thanks shiv. My wife and neighbors certainly appreciate it. Managed to get 11.7 gallons of E85 in it. I would of thought it would of been much lower as I drove it pretty hard on some back roads getting to the station to burn off fuel. Took it easy pulling out of the station and after some liberal swishing the car back and forth to mix the tank up. Pulled off, shut it down and restarted just to make sure I wouldn't have any dead pedal issues even after I did the whole pumping the pedal trick. (not sure if that even works?) Got back on the highway and put it under some load. AF ratio sitting at 12.7 and LT F sitting a 0 at WOT. Check! Pulled off and checked how the idle was. Rock solid at 750, just as smooth as silk. Pulling back onto the back roads I gave it a bit more than I usually do revving through the RPM range shifting at 5k. First thing I immediately noticed was the weird hesitation that I had on the 1.31 and 1.33 maps at 3100 to 3300ish RPM was completely gone. Going through the gears the lower and middle RPM range feels completely smooth and pulled noticeably stronger with these maps. By now my wife and myself have a little grin on our faces. She knows what time it is so we make our way back over to the interstate and put the pedal down on the on ramp. :burnrubber: Whoa.... wasn't expecting the pull up top. Now I haven't really been driving this car like I stole it before now. Sure I've done a couple pulls getting onto highways and from stop lights, but far from reckless. Many years ago I would of drove it like a mad man but time has a way of changing perspective. I'm not an old man, but I'm definitely not in my early twenties anymore and the thought of getting pulled by the cops isn't a pleasant one, so I typically leave the speedy driving to the track. All I can say is I can't wait to get this thing to VIR. Its definitely not as fast as my old '05 STi, but I've enjoyed driving this thing so much more than it. This new map is essentially icing on an already great cake. You have a hard time stopping at just one slice! Blaa blaa blaa... TL:DR These maps kick ass and I can't wait to get this car on the track where I can really drive it like its supposed to be driven! |
I have tested 1.34b the whole day today.
Can't be as detailed as the report of Malt above, but there are at least 3 things i would like to mention (for stage 1 premium pump gas tune): 1. It pulls better than 1.33 within the whole rev range. 2. Rev limiter now is a kind of the thing i dreamed of. 3. Idling revs increased by about 30-40 revs comparing to previous tune. Now it shows average 740-750 rpm idling. It is GREAT tune and it is noticeably better than the one i had before (suggest it was 1.33 but not for sure as it was mailed me by Shiv without any release reference number, but since 1.33 was the first release where my G-series ROM appeared first time, i may suggest it was 1.33). Great work, thank you, Shiv! :respekt: |
I would also like a 'fuel economy map for long trips'. Great idea!
|
I am looking forward to flashing 1.34 after I get off of work today. :w00t:
|
Looks like I will be in the garage at some point tonight.
|
I am giddy like a kid at Christmas...
Ordered the OFT earlier today, w00t! and I just called and verified a local service station sells E85 within 15min of my workplace. Current price is $2.86/gal. Double w00t! :happyanim: :happyanim: Can't wait to unleash the ponies!!! |
Thank you guys for taking the time to write reviews. I enjoy seeing other people enjoy our maps. Also big props to @mad_sb for giving me his initial injector scaling values. That saved us days of work and allows us to bring these maps to public that much quicker :)

I don't think you could really run this car any leaner, safely, anyway. |
??? Hmm $500 OFT to possibly getting better MPG's
or $1,000's of dollars for another car to possibly get better MPG's I am happy with my current MPG's but if there is an option to get better MPG's on a long distance map (whatever you want to cal it) I think many would like it and use it. Sorry, but unfortunately your idea is not better...its kinda bad... |

I'm giving you a hard time, no worries. I mean, if I am going 70 mph (3k rpm) on highway towards my long distance location - I am getting around 30-35 mpg's. I am happy about it. If they did provide a map where you get 40 mpg's, that would be kick ass too.
|
will we see stage 1 e85 maps? i dont plan on headers any time soon, but do have an e85 station right by my house. not in any hurry since winter is just setting in lol

looks good, I'll be doing some datalogging later this week, since our temps are a little lower than yours, and will adjust my tables accordingly. I am also not running headers, but have a full exhaust from there back, along with a few other goodies
|
I was excited until I opened the file and saw e85 is only for stage 2 :(. Thanks for the update nonetheless. Anticipating that stage 1 e85 tune. Flashing 1.34 now.
Thanks Again! |

Just installed 134 stage 1 - feels great, quick question - in the torque dip zone, exhaust now sounds fairly raspy-normal?

What about those of us with stock headers but a catless front-pipe? Does that offer any benefit in flow characteristics?
