Is there any auto alarm that works with the BRZ (limited)

Not sure if this has been asked before and it's kind if hard to navigate the forum through my phone.

I have a friend who installs security alarm and remote starts. He said the viper Alarms have no current module for the brz due to the remote start. He said he can give the alarm a try but didn't guarante it. Has anybody secesufully installed a security alarm? If so, what brand and model of alarm? Also was it in a premium, limited or scion?

Not that Ive found. Im waiting for FlashLogic to release a flash for the keyless entry and start so I can use a Viper remote start and security.

In the meantime, did you enable the factory alarm?

1. Turn the ignition to ON (all lights light up, but car isn't running, two presses of the button)

2. Press the lock button on the driver's door.

3. Press the unlock button on the driver's door and hold it. Open the door and wait 10 seconds while holding the unlock button.

4. The car's horn should beep and either "AL on" or "AL off" will display on the dash.

If you want to test the alarm, roll your car's windows down. Take your fob about 20 feet away (leave it in the house out of range of the sensor). Lock the car using the fob. Set it down. Walk over to the car and use the physical unlock button or switch on the door to unlock it. When you open the door, the alarm will go off. Sprint back to your fob before your neighbors get pissed.

Thanks.. That actually sounds good. Is there a ETA for the release?

Thanks.. Already done. Just sucks leaving the car unprotected with all the goodies on.

Yeah, sucks. Been waiting for over a year now. One place locally said I should check back in 3 months...

I have a compustar on my BRZ limited. The installer even got it to work through the factory keyfob instead of an after market. I can arm and disarm the alarm by pressing the door handle locations and opening the trunk disables the alarm. When I lock the doors through the fob the alarm engages. Only real drawback is I do not have the half mile range of an after market two way. I'm fine with that though.

Since you don't have a 1-mile range unit, could you divulge which ones was installed for your car? This would be better than nothing! I'm not looking for a lot of distance. I'm generally fairly close to my BRZ, not even 20 feet away at home and barely 100 feet away at work.

From my work window:

In my backyard just a few feet away from the side of the house:

Still sucks to run out and start it when it's below freezing!

No, only the brz limited has this feature.

The FRS 10 Series has it (tested it on mine too) -most likely the FR-S Monogram edition will as well.

Thanks, I forgot that the special edition and the monogram series had it. I must be thinking of the old days when the brz limited had all the extra features.

My experience is very good, too. Kiramek Sales Dept supports very good. High grade provider.
I am waiting the delivery of door lock module within Xmas.

I installed a viper 5704 on my frs and I have a problem. The lock and unlock works but like about 10 mins after no action with the car it does not lock nor unlock. The lights flashes but doesn't unlock or lock. I don't have a bypass module for the unlock and lock. Do I need one?

Brianbajnauth 01-16-2014 02:43 PM

Is there anyway to disable the factory alarm so I can use the aftermarket? I think is not working because the factory alarm arms after 10 mins.

I Just installed the vision 1480 from Kiramek in my FRS 10 series with a smart key system and it work great! It's basically the same alarm as the sciborg but the shock sensor is a little different. Super easy to install yourself. The hardest thing to do is mounting the siren and running the power cable through the firewall in the cabin. The rest is simple plug and play. I recommend buying a OBD2 Y splitter cable too. So you can keep the port free for other devices. Like the guys said before get ahold of James over there at Kiramek, He's great to work with. The system cost only $200 USD too! Pretty cheap for piece of mind!
