Rust proofing?

Where do you guys get your rust proofing done at?

I'm thinking of getting it done at MotorworX in Vaughan (Ontario). They use a product called DuraShield which doesn't drip as much as Krown (apparently, I've never had it done at MotorworX).

Got OEM toyota plus crown in markham

Rust Check...drips more than Krown, but is very effective. I've been using it for 20 or so years.

Where and price?

Krown will drill holes on your door panel just a heads up but krown is good. It drips a bit but I own a garage so I left all the under covers off and let it dripped for 2 days before I put the covers back on

Lots of locations across the GTA. There's one at 2305 Markham rd...416-754-2128. The price is about $120.

Thanks. I'm going to check it out, first time rustproofing ^_^

So my dealer says my options through them are:
- Dripless oil spray (have to do every year) $110.10
- One time application (lifetime warranty) $695

Any advice? I want the best bang for my buck and don't mind re-doing it every winter, but also don't want to leave it vulnerable..

Under Covers???

Kazuya 10-29-2013 01:57 AM

Booked an appointment with Krown between McCowan and Markham, the old guy doesn't sound friendly or knowledgeable.

If you going Krown, I recommend 2628 Saint Clair Avenue West. The owner there is a solid guy. I've been taking all my cars there for the past 4 years. They tend to get quite busy around this time. Usually cost around $100-$120.

AVOID the Krown at Lakeshore and Cawthra in Mississauga. I took my 370z there once. They took like 15min to do it, and it turned out they only sprayed the bottom.

Or just grab a can of T40 or Formula 3000 and just do it yourself :)

Those plastic panels under the vehicle that covers your engine, tranny, etc. Taking them off first will make their life easier and will probably spend more time going to every corner of your car. If you leave them own they will just shove their gun in without knowing where they are spraying and jusy blind spray and hope for the best. After the spray is done. Leave the covers off and let it drip on floor and not on your cover if you were to put them back right away after the spray

I got mines done at duratech rustproofing

They did a great job only thing concerns me is the holes they drill

Anyone know the chances of thoses holes rusting if I always clean my car and around theses holes as well

Thanks

The under body chassis steel on this car have a noticeable coating (maybe this is galvanized zinc coating, I'm not talking about the thick factory rust proofing coat, you will see it on the steel when you cut out the plastic plugs to install the aero package underbody panels). If you drill holes into the chassis steel then yes you will compromise it. Hope the aftermarket rust proofing will save you.

Personally I will not allow anyone drilling holes into the steel ever.

Just curious why would they drill holes into the doors? Just remove the interior door panels and then spray? I've removed the interior door panels myself to install the stitched knee pads, and there are wiring / harnesses / window motors / bare speakers inside and the steel is painted. Sounds dangerous. :iono:

They drill holes to put rustproofing in the inside of the car cause they say when it rust it starts from the inside out, so it's better to drill holes and then put a rubber plug.

krayzie 06-20-2014 12:49 AM

You don't need to drill holes, there are like 5 holes on each side of the runners (4 of them with plastic plugs covered by factory rust proofing, 2 of the tie down holes with rubber gaskets) where you can spray into the inside of the chassis all you want. The moment you drill it will compromise the zinc coating on the steel.

Oh well too late for my car ... I'm sure I'll be fine ..I'll make sure I'll keep the area around the drilled holes nice and clean
