FBM BRZ/FRS Shop Builds/Projects
We finally got settled into the new shop and have quite a few projects going on.
Both of these cars are running our turbo kits along with our shortblock. Will be tuning on 91 and 93 pump gas. I will post update and pics as we go :D Our engine building room with two motors being built http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...psd0eccdf4.jpg All motors are checked and measured for clearances http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...psd6a2447e.jpg Cylinders are honed to fit http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps14fcea8f.jpg Goodies going in http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps854e2766.jpg Both motors are back together http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps945344f4.jpg Our guys, dropping both motors in at the same time http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps6b6d389e.jpg http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...psd84c1c17.jpg |
So much winning in those pics!!!
|
Holy ginormous garage, Batman.
|
Any details on the build? Is this your full blown shortblock with the stock top end or is any work being done to that as well?
|
Yes, stock heads. Goals for both cars will be 400-450HP on pump gas safely

You guys are only 1200 miles ... |
We have a spare shortblock sitting here that we are building to keep turnaround time down I would say 1 week from the time the car is dropped off if everything is planned accordingly.
We have another car to do next week so, it basically broils down to timing. |

Beautiful shop, I would kill to have that much space.
|
What's the going price from beginning to end for the motor to be built and dropped in?
|
I have been reading and learning from this forum for about a year now. I have no idea if this is where I should have my first post, but since FBM was probably referring to me as one of next weeks builds, well I just thought it would be the time. So Hello everyone. I am curious of the cost of the built engine as well.
Also a big thank you to everyone who has boosted their BRZ/FRS. Your experiences have been a huge help to everyone following you, to include myself. |

Believe it or not this will be my first forum posting experience. So if there is anything in particular that I should do to have a good and clear thread. Please let me know. I am all ears.

Tut, just curious what made you get rid of the Cayman R. I used to have a 06 CS with the TPC turbo. She was a blast, but in the end I decided not keep her.
I love my BRZ so far and I feel much more at home driving her than my Cayman S. The BRZ just needs a little kick in the but sometimes, and all that will be fixed by the end of next week. I cant wait. |

Haha. I kind of know that story myself. There is always a new project that I cant wait to start on. Going from WRX to EVO to 135i(N54) to Cayman S to having a DD truck. So a BRZ becomes my weekend toy more or less. Is it smart what I have done? No. but I wouldn't trade the experiences I have had. I am looking forward to meeting LJ and everyone at FBM, and to see the new and clean facility.
Hello my name is Mike, and I am a CARaholic. |

Any Trans upgrades to go along with that rear end you guys have?? Also did you guys have problems with the stock diff? I know the s2k blew faster than a virgin with power, but I have not heard of any issues so far, just trans problems.

My name is Mike too, and I'm a caraholic as well. I went from a Porsche race car, to a 135i, to my BRZ. I've been slowing down progressively over the last 3 years, and it has to stop NOW! I can't wait for my turbo kit. If I hit 350whp someday, I'll be faster than my 135, but I don't think I'll ever own anything as fast as my Porsche, which weighed 1800 pounds and dynoed at 340 to the wheels. |

Sent from somewhere |
We got some pump gas results. Both cars are running our 9:1 built shortblock on pump gas.
We kept the tune conservative until both cars get back to their state and send us some logs with their local gas. Next up is E85 and more boost. http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...psdacd770b.jpg 353hp 91 pump gas @ 16psi http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps71b66c80.png 410Hp 93 pump gas with gt30 upgrade 15.5psi http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps1ba3b765.png |
FBM BRZ/FRS Shop Builds/Projects
Did a surprise attack on the shop today. Got bored on thanksgiving so a buddy and I drove down to check out the new shop and to add another 700mi to my FBM short block. God damn that place is massive!!!!! Like we could hold a drift event inside. Saw the blue Cali brz strapped to the rollers but didn't see a pull as we got there at lunchtime. All three of the ft86's were CLEAN. I still can't get over the size of the place LJ, so MINT!!
