FBM BRZ/FRS Shop Builds/Projects

We finally got settled into the new shop and have quite a few projects going on.

Both of these cars are running our turbo kits along with our shortblock. Will be tuning on 91 and 93 pump gas.

I will post update and pics as we go :D

So much winning in those pics!!!

Frostyman 10-11-2013 11:08 AM

Holy ginormous garage, Batman.

pheoxs 10-11-2013 11:16 AM

Any details on the build? Is this your full blown shortblock with the stock top end or is any work being done to that as well?

FullBlown 10-11-2013 11:19 AM

Yes, stock heads. Goals for both cars will be 400-450HP on pump gas safely

Hypothetically what would be the quickest turn around time for a customer that drives down and wants to drive back? A few days? Just the built block with a vortech kit already installed?

You guys are only 1200 miles ...

FullBlown 10-11-2013 11:29 AM

We have a spare shortblock sitting here that we are building to keep turnaround time down I would say 1 week from the time the car is dropped off if everything is planned accordingly.

We have another car to do next week so, it basically broils down to timing.

One week eh. I know a guy in PC with an Frs that likes the number 300 that would kill to be hearing those words about now.

mmmmmmm...... Dat shopppppp.......

Ross 10-11-2013 11:51 AM

Beautiful shop, I would kill to have that much space.

ecko04 10-11-2013 12:04 PM

What's the going price from beginning to end for the motor to be built and dropped in?

brzaapi 10-11-2013 12:17 PM

I have been reading and learning from this forum for about a year now. I have no idea if this is where I should have my first post, but since FBM was probably referring to me as one of next weeks builds, well I just thought it would be the time. So Hello everyone. I am curious of the cost of the built engine as well.

Also a big thank you to everyone who has boosted their BRZ/FRS. Your experiences have been a huge help to everyone following you, to include myself.

I will look forward to your build thread and adding you to the Full Blown owners thread.

brzaapi 10-11-2013 12:36 PM

Believe it or not this will be my first forum posting experience. So if there is anything in particular that I should do to have a good and clear thread. Please let me know. I am all ears.

brzaapi 10-11-2013 01:05 PM

Tut, just curious what made you get rid of the Cayman R. I used to have a 06 CS with the TPC turbo. She was a blast, but in the end I decided not keep her.

I love my BRZ so far and I feel much more at home driving her than my Cayman S.
The BRZ just needs a little kick in the but sometimes, and all that will be fixed by the end of next week. I cant wait.

Very very wise advice is, come in knowing that this is the internet, there are lots of "e-thugs" around and everyone has an opinion. Also never take stuff personal. Resist the urge to feed trolls when they come by trying to get you angry.

Welcome!

brzaapi 10-11-2013 01:31 PM

Don't get mad. Check
Beware E-thugs. Check
Don't feed trolls. Check
Opinions are like assholes. Check

I believe I am ready. I will start a thread about my build once I get back from Minnesota and FBM.

Thanks, we are super anal about being clean. Shop is still a mess, we still have some unpacking and cleaning to do.

I got rid of the Cayman R to put the money I had tied up in that car into racing my SpecE30. I put a new motor in it and intended to use the rest of the money for track weekends, but instead I dropped over $18k in parts into my BRZ no thanks to LJ.

brzaapi 10-11-2013 03:18 PM

Haha. I kind of know that story myself. There is always a new project that I cant wait to start on. Going from WRX to EVO to 135i(N54) to Cayman S to having a DD truck. So a BRZ becomes my weekend toy more or less. Is it smart what I have done? No. but I wouldn't trade the experiences I have had. I am looking forward to meeting LJ and everyone at FBM, and to see the new and clean facility.

Any Trans upgrades to go along with that rear end you guys have?? Also did you guys have problems with the stock diff? I know the s2k blew faster than a virgin with power, but I have not heard of any issues so far, just trans problems.

Here is what it looks like from the dyno. We are very fortunate to be able to have this much room. It's been a long journey but well worth it.

My name is Mike too, and I'm a caraholic as well.

I went from a Porsche race car, to a 135i, to my BRZ. I've been slowing down progressively over the last 3 years, and it has to stop NOW!

I can't wait for my turbo kit. If I hit 350whp someday, I'll be faster than my 135, but I don't think I'll ever own anything as fast as my Porsche, which weighed 1800 pounds and dynoed at 340 to the wheels.

We got some pump gas results. Both cars are running our 9:1 built shortblock on pump gas.

We kept the tune conservative until both cars get back to their state and send us some logs with their local gas. Next up is E85 and more boost.

Did a surprise attack on the shop today. Got bored on thanksgiving so a buddy and I drove down to check out the new shop and to add another 700mi to my FBM short block.
