Frs x 6 rotting away Columbus ga.....
I hear all your sad sobbing stories about how an frs is hard to see at a dealer yet here........
http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...psbd28c7ea.jpg Plus I saw a 10 series on the back.. I don't live here. Just passing by... |
eh... my local dealer has 5 FR-S... yet I've only seen one on the streets around here...
My dealer always has about 6-7 in stock. This is only 20 minutes from Chicago as well.
I pass my local Toyota dealership and Subaru dealership just about everyday on my route to work, Subaru lot usually has one or two disappearing BRZs, Toyota dealership has a couple of FR-S.
Weird, the dealerships around where I live usually have one or none in stock. Maybe frs's just aren't as popular in the south :iono:
My local one had a few this morning and a manual 10 series.
My dealer sells them fast as they come off the truck and they almost never have any FR-S's in stock.
where i got my frs there was a really bad hail storm come through and just destroyed all they're cars, the frs' looked the worst, they were just destroyed it was horrible
when I went and got an oil change a month ago there were at least 8 in stock.... it seems the niche for this car isn't as huge as we thought
maybe they should be sending more elsewhere in the world...
My local dealer has had 20 FRS (they appear to be the same ones) for the past three months...either they are bad salespeople, or its time for a $500 rebate...
I wonder how much it has to do with mark ups and such?
I deposit before release at a dealer 10 minutes from me but they were really sketchy and I was able to close a deal before they even gave me a price at another dealer. I got my car 2 hours out of state for MSRP on the first shipment. The car I had deposit on at the original dealer was on the lot for 6+ months, I stopped checking lol |

The only other FR-S at my dealership was a Firestorm that the new owner had fitted with a TRD exhaust before taking delivery. They weren't marking them up at all. The Subaru dealership was a different story, but even with a $5k mark up they only had one on the lot.

Here in Central NJ, they can't give them away at this point. Around October when I got mine, they'd laugh at you trying to find one. Now I've seen the same 3 for months on one dealers lot and 4 on another dealer lot.

It's the same here in north metro Atlanta. Cherokee County Toyota had the FR-S I now own since around September last year (I bought at the end of June). The other two they still have. I think I was the first to buy one from them?
they're sold the instant they get in any subura lot around here in Utah. idk about the frs htough. plus i'd put money that most of those are automatics.
FRS sell fast in arkansas. My dealer sells them before they hit the lot except one with leather seats they put in with a 2k upcharge for the leather

When I bought my car there, it was the only one there. haha From Jackson, TN to Alamogordo, NM I still love this car more than anything else.
Edit: Realized this said GA. My fault. Oh well. |
Question is, what's the AT:MT in-stock ratio.
Subaru dealer here is selling the BRZ limited version at factory invoice + $750.
Forgot to include the Subaru dealer can't sell any brz's. the same two have been on the lot since April and no new ones have come in, they have a galaxy blue MT and a blue pearl also MT
I think the demographics in the area would also play a roll. I imagine they sell less in areas with large straight highways just like Subarus in general (4WD) sell well in northern climates.
I had to wait what felt like a year just for my dealership to receive one that wasn't pre-sold so I could test drive it. It was in December 2012, so however long that was. Now that same dealership always has about 3 of them at all times. I think there was a lot of hype and anticipation for this car by the people that know what's up - us. It finally came out, and all of our types were Black Friday-fighting each other over them until the majority of us got one. Now that the enthusiasts are all satisfied, it's up to just random ass people to buy them. The kind of people that say weird shit like, "what kind of gas mileage does it get?" It's all about the niche.
Some of you say the car isnt as popular as we thought..I think that depends on location or region also..Here in Southern Cali they still sale like no tomorrow. I drive past Toyota of Escondido (the flagship dealer) everyday and every so often they get about 3-5 FRS' and they will all be gone within a matter of days every single time...maaaayybe the automatic sits for an extra couple days but i still see more and more on the road monthly...this car is VERY popular here in san diego/los angeles...and theres still people who just cant afford them or buy them for whatever personal reasons they have like babies etc...hell theres people on this forum that still dont have one but want to buy one in the future
^I figured they'd be popular down here, with the import scene and all.
Though my dealer (Temecula) always has one parked up front. But I guess it doesnt help when they're always $3k above msrp . |
I think the majority of people won't buy the fr-s due to being able to purchase a v6 mustang or camaro for a similiar price with more power. That coupled with dealers adding mark up to a non-rarity of a car doesn't help things. Oh well. I'm glad they aren't as common as mustangs, camaros, z's and challengers.
This car IS as popular as we thought, just because they don't sell in specific regions doesn't mean nobody wants them. Toyota and Subaru should take notice and scale back shipments of these cars to the regions that they don't sell well in.
They should stop sending them over until they all get sold. LOL
There were 3 dealers (two Scion, one Subaru) in CT I tried to work with when the cars were hard to find...they were completely selfish with mark-ups and poor customer service...both 'ships have over 5+ on the lot right now while the other dealers are still holding only 2 or so on the lot which rotate quckly. It makes me laugh...I doubt anyone refers them (exactly the opposite from me) so they're stuck with the inventory b/c of their shit attitudes and practices.

It has a lot to do also with the fact that we can go to Auburn, Lagrange, and Atlanta to get way better deals on just about any car. Usually the cars here are marked up since Ft. Benning is right next to us.
When I got mine, I asked the salesman how many FRS's they had moved and he said they sold more FRS's this year than what they usually sell of all of the rest of the Scion line put together. That being said, there has been a Hot Lava with the TRD exhaust sitting on the lot for a few months now.
3,440 listed on cars.com right now. When I was shopping a couple months ago it was well under 1,000.
Proud to say that the local dealer only has the #5 most expensive FRS and not #1-3. :barf: |
really curious what sweet stuff they package in the ones priced at $36k
My local dealer has been selling them at MSRP but they've still had 4 that haven't moved for like 5 months.
Passed by my local dealer and they have 15+ frs. Still debating on when to pull the trigger.
