Goose's Build

The time has come for me to stop being lazy and finally make a build thread.

First dyno I did was at a place called Motion Labs, and they didn't know how to disconnect the front rollers on their dyno. Showed something like 144whp. Can't find that dyno sheet.

Dyno on Mustang dyno:

Stock dyno at shift-fast:

Then on 5-3 I had Borla UEL headers installed.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...19919399_n.jpg
Love the sound of them

Then on the 10th I had the Injen intake installed.

Dyno run with the intake and headers installed:

May 28th, I had my cat-back headers installed
https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...97253080_n.jpg

Dyno run with all 3 installed:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/...psf4ae9394.jpg (if this one doesn't work, I won't be supprised. having issues with photobucket)

When I went up to CT, I stopped in NY, so John @Visconti could tune her. Did an awesome job. When I returned to charlotte, I had the overpipe and frontpipe installed, and this was my final result on the dyno-dynamics.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/...ps14e911bd.jpg

Anxiously awaiting my Innovate SC, so that I can install it, get it tuned, and see what else she can do. Updates will come as new parts are ordered/installed

edit 1: all my runs are with 93 octane. just FYI

edit 2: Received word from @FA20Club.com that the SC should be in the mail either Monday or Tuesday, so Wednesday or Thursday there will be a GRAND UNPACKING! then install on Friday. :D

edit 3: SC has arrived! just waiting on the map so we can begin the install. but to tide you over until then.....

edit 4: Friend had to go pick his kids up, something happened and their plans fell through, so we're going to be doing the install tomorrow at his work. Also, received tune from @FA20Club.com, and I can't wait to try it out, and start logging.

edit 5: SUPERCHARGER INSTALL! Haven't taken any pics with it on, having too much fun driving it. Now it's too dark to get good pics, though. :(

okay, I took the cover/intake off
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/...ps17286edf.jpg

Vacuum line that gave he some serious freaking problems. had to wait for john to get there with his tools to help get it out.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/...ps58911c16.jpg

Everything off, ready to start putting SC on.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/...ps62d798e8.jpg

I'll post more pics tomorrow, when I get to take em in the light. Will try to get a vid, as well.

edit 6 I think.
Pic of the blower.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/...ps4b44494f.jpg

edit whatever # this is: So I went to shift fast today to use their dyno so that I could get my tune finalized.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/...ps1c669e6b.jpg canned tune

so I got the first new map, and there were some slight problems.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/...ps56aa3878.jpg
I was honestly afraid to driver her like that, so she stayed on the dyno. unfortunately, I didn't hear back from the tuner in such a long time, I had to reach out to another, local source.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/...ps575b1f62.jpg
this was the first map he sent me. down in power a bit, but i'd rather have her be that rich, than as lean as she was.

and for my grand finale (for now)
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/...ps7513bd65.jpg
He tweaked his map just a little bit, and we get the final result. 243whp, and 211 lb/ft. and HOLY CRAP SHE FEELS AWESOME!

I do have a 2nd gear pull vid (tach), but it's very shakey, and hasn't been uploaded yet.

and now it is.

Till the next time.

edit Q: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIPMfNRuptc"]Innovate SC dyno tuning - YouTube[/ame]
that wasn't my best run, just the best i filmed. Finally did some more dyno-tuning with remote help from @JuniorAWD, and managed to get up to 255.2

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/...ps5f087ae3.jpg
we estimate about 220 lb/ft, so i am definitely going to need a clutch before i do any more power mods

edit something: got a new map from JR, and now i need a new clutch. :(

edit 11/22/13
installed my ACT stg 3 clutch and lightweight fly wheel. feels great, but still need to get the clutch broken in. will post pics once they get posted on the guy's facebook page

edit: 12/1/1/13
clutch pics up.

Sub'd, can't wait to see the progression!

wrxgoose 07-05-2013 06:38 PM

I hopefully will be getting the Innovate SC from @FA20Club.com delivered soon but I'm still waiting on the map and confirmation of where it is.

chate 07-05-2013 06:55 PM

Very interested to see what you end up with after having done the bolt on route/tune and then moving to FI...not only number-wise but also livability and driving perception over the course of the build

wrxgoose 07-05-2013 07:09 PM

the headers did make a difference with the torque dip that can be felt by the driver. Once I got the tune, however, she felt like a whole different car. pulled smoother. not really sure how else to describe it, especially since I don't really remember what she felt like stock anymore. >.<

edit: holy crap. posted this an hour ago, and already 80 views.

6-Shift 07-05-2013 08:52 PM

Wooo finally! that last dyno plot is sick. Can't wait to see the numbers from the innovate supercharger.

shu5892001 07-05-2013 10:00 PM

Just to make it clear, all the mods you have are Perrin headerback + borla header + a injen Intake and a viscounti 93 tune?

Tansey86 07-05-2013 10:03 PM

You go to M.R. Performance?

Correct. though 3", not 2.5". Shop ordered the 3" in anticipation of me going FI, I think.

I went to M.R. performance just for the tune. I was passing there on the way up to see my sisters in CT, and it just made sense for me to stop.

On their dyno, pre-overpipe and front pipe, they showed a 195.6 whp.

IntotheOcean 07-06-2013 11:57 AM

Can't wait to see the rest!! :D

Ndgreely 07-06-2013 09:45 PM

Nice yea I'd like to have a look at it !! And who is doing your work for you ??

wrxgoose 07-07-2013 12:32 AM

first post updated!

all the work has been done by Shift-Fast, down in rock hill, with the exception of the tune, which John did when I drove up north.

Lonewolf 07-07-2013 12:47 AM

Wow, great numbers for bolt-ons. 93 octane makes a difference....hell, I think I would keep it NA with the great (problem-free) results so far.

The boost will really wake her up though...:burnrubber:

wrxgoose 07-07-2013 12:52 AM

I would keep her NA, but I can feel that she wants more. she told me so in a dream.

Can you do a video pull. There are only a hanful of owners doing 200 na on pump

Rampage 07-07-2013 01:37 PM

200 trouble free WHP on 93 octane? That is all this car needs. Thank you sir, you have given me a roadmap of mods for my son's new FR-S!

I can try. maybe I can mount my phone so it'll film while i'm driving. I'll try later today

edit: I also want to go back to that mustang dyno, see what it says before I put the SC on. maybe I can get some runs in tomorrow, since I've got it off.

Video made, but having some problems getting it uploaded. will post shortly

there's the vid that was asked for. well, an attempt at it. I really gotta get someone to hold the camera for me (used a suction cup mount to my driver's side window) and a longer road

djdnz 07-08-2013 11:13 AM

200WHP on 93 is impressive, nice numbers!

wrxgoose 07-08-2013 02:31 PM

Thank you. I am going to make another vid once I have the charger on there.

I will be receiving it this week, then doing the tune, and installing it with my friend on friday.
Didnt think they were that fast. Lol

brzadmir 07-09-2013 01:49 PM

How was your experience working with John tuning your vehicle? Ive been contemplating going to him or Moto Mike in P.A. Heard great things about both just not sure who will properly tune my vehicle the best with my after market modifications? Any reviews on either from anyone experienced with them?

John did a great job with the tune. I just wish it hadn't been so expensive (but I can understand why, since I bought the cable/software as well). She really did feel like a different car after the tune. Much smoother accel, too.

small update (okay, so not small. :D )
I spoke to @FA20Club.com, and the SC should be arriving on Friday, just in time for me to install, then go on a date.

flippy 07-10-2013 03:23 PM

God bless you sir! *insert tears of joy*

wrxgoose 07-11-2013 12:42 AM

alright, someone posted a vid from a car meet I went to last Saturday. Didn't watch the whole vid, stopped after I saw my car. BUT! you can hear what she sounds like, which is mean as hell. Start at 2:05, and that's me leaving.

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v...type=2&theater

edit: damn she sounds sexy to me. lol. I really need to get a fly-by vid taken before I put the innovate on there.

Still stock overpipe and front pipe?

wrxgoose 07-12-2013 03:20 PM

nope. entire breathing system has been replaced.

Supercharger has arrived, will be posting pics of build later. just need to get the base tune, then to buy an extra belt before I do anything.

Supercharger installed. Have some pics, but it started pouring out, so no vids. sorry

edit: took about 4 hours, would have been faster, if i'd thought to park the car in the sun, so we didn't have to struggle with the light. John thinks he could have had it done in about 3 hours or so.

200HP NA 93 is a great accomplishment, will be interesting to see if that head/exhaust helps the innovate

soon. gotta get the tune right.

and 200NA felt awesome, but she felt like she wanted more. :D Just wish I could have found a way to make my Injen intake work with the SC. no hole for the sensor in the tube though.
