How long did you wait for your tune?

Just wondering on average how long did you guys have to wait to get your tune from visconti after you passed your order?

Sportsguy83 04-20-2013 09:43 PM

Sometimes its one day, others two and others might be about 4.

When did you submit a ticket?

Morning meaning at about 10 am. But, I do believe he doesn't sleep much.

killerkid08 04-20-2013 09:57 PM

Try to avoid blowing him up about a tune, when its dire its understandable, but the guy is busy like none other. I'm one of the folks bugging the crap out of him as he smoothes out my low end.

Usually you'll hear something next day, but i've waited 2 days or so. idk but it felt like an eternity. Over the net tuning is a test of patience, but when that tune comes, its like christmas.

Silverdub 04-20-2013 10:02 PM

ah we ll see, if i dont hear anything i ll give it a chance around lunch time monday. i was just wondering delays in general, trust me i know he is busy, thats what you get for being the best...

who knows, if its possible i ll even try to make it to his dyno this summer for further tuning, at least i got my boost gauge and wideband hooked up, so i believe i am on the safe side... what are you turbo guys running for afr in general, just so i know when to stop lol

IMHO At WOT, I'd say try and stay below 12, if you ever see over 13 at high RPM's stop.

At crushing speed it always shows "lean" but that's part of it.

Silverdub 04-20-2013 10:16 PM

good to know, right now my wideband reads 14.7 to 15 with the wastegate fully open and no tuning, im thing the stupid airflow straigner is a gimminck and doesnt help, i might take it out...i also have a cel with po171... hummmm i might hookup the techstream monday morning to see whats going on exactly before i hit boost

first i thought it was because i had the cat removed or the 3inch maf

Let me ask you. Where is the Wideband O2 sensor connected?

Yes, DO NOT step into it with that code.

http://www.obd-codes.com/p0171

System Too Lean.

You have a custom intake right? What tune do you have right now? (I mean, I KNOW you have a turbo, but I mean if you are not using the stock airbox)

Silverdub 04-20-2013 10:29 PM

everything is custom made and i do not have a tune. i am running it with the wastegate actuator detached for the wastegate, its running 0 psi. basically its like running stock... i am thinking the maf might be too close to the 2.5inch to 3 inch transition or the airflow straightner is taking up too much room in the tubing so its giving inacurate readings.. i might hook up the stock box to the turbo inlet just to see if it solves the problem, if not i cant see what the problem would be technically, its running as if there were no turbo at all

Ok, got it. I understand now the Wastegate always open situation.

Your problem right now is that the MAF scaling for your new "intake" is different than what it was with stock airbox. I don't think reinstalling the airbox will do much since you will still have all the plumbing through intercooler etc and there are pressure differences from what the MAF reads to what enters the TB.

I also think you will be alright as long as you don't step on it.

Oh one last thought, the removed Cat also contributes to the code.

:thanks:

the cat is what really got me thinking it as sort of okay, i didnt drive it much at all and didnt step on it anyways... i cant wait to see if the tune and hooking up the wastegate will fix it all!!!! if it doesnt i am going to take the airflow straightner out first...

btw, do you have a cel for the cat with johns tune or did he get rid of it, i know avo kit cancels that cat!

I only got a CEL when I flashed AVO's base tune (got three codes all related to being Lean :D) but that was specifically because AVO's tune considers the stock airbox and I have the Perrin CAI.

After that flash, all I've done are John's tunes. They have been 3 or 4 and have never had a CEL with his tunes.

Can't wait to hear your impressions when you are able to step on it!!

trust me i cant wait to step on it after all the time i spent building that thing.. i am looking forward to it especially that john said the turbo that i use was an awesome choice and they are plenty of fun and reliable. man i am getting all excited, if i was a girl my chair would be wet as we speak!

You've changed the MAF housing diameter without a tune? I'd unplug the MAF and run the car in limp mode until you get that tuned.

Silverdub 04-21-2013 11:08 AM
