Rear Diffuser.
 

a buddy of mine is currently finishing a diffuser for the 2011+wrx/sti sedan, it is going to the Molding process now as it's finished in design.

he asked me about a rear diffuser for out car that i've been bugging him about and i need suggestions, and most important need a list of people interested because he will not make it if it will not sell.

here is the varis diffuser for the STi's. that kind of desiging would also look great i think (not CF though).

The Spoon design is definitely TOO MUCH

Interested in one similar to the Varis diffuser or the Version Select, but with a true mounting solution out of the box!

I'd be in. Don't care for the s2000 one but the sti ones look good.

i'm thinking it would be more like the hatch varis diffuser, because that will form fit the brz rear. that version select piece doesn't do much for me to be honest....just looks MEH.

I would possibly but i would also have to see a design first.
I like the ChargeSpeed one but it needs more of an aggressive look.

That design also utilizes the muffler as part of the diffuser.

that looks just like the OEM one. to me it just looks half assed, like someone just took a snowboard and mounted it. its too narrow, and just looks weird to me. granted it does take the OEM muffler into account, most of us are no longer stock.

this thread is also to gauge what every one wants. so input for a design would be nice. i'm going to try to draw somethings up tonight, but please comment in here on what you'd like. not just i'll wait for a design because then if you dont like it, and had no input then what can we do to help that?

Pending what it looks like/functions I'd be interested. Needs to at LEAST cover the exhaust. Shouldn't have to go all the way to the differential based on what I've heard from some other sources, but I want to see a mostly covered rear with cutouts suspension movement as that's simpler than say a design that incorporates a flex area for suspension movement.

The Varis one looks like it's on the right path, but I'm interested in something like the Corkspeed MS3 diffuser.

Don't get me wrong i agree it does look a lot like OEM and not the best but it's not too big and flashy.
The Varis one i think looks good and aggressive but could hug the exhaust more (as much as that's possible), like Orbital said it's on the right track. Can't wait to see what you draw up. :popcorn:

What sort of price would you be looking at? I just want a ball park number before I put my self down.

Hate the spoon one. No way I'd buy that. The second varis one is very nice though. Depending on the design, I'd be in. If there isn't one to market soon, I'll just make my own.

Not really interested if it's designed to work with the stock muffler. Also not interested in something that's just drawn up based on looks and has no testing to back up its function.

After speaking to nameless they are supposed to be coming out with something that is engineered using aero design software (forget which exact software) and they have a full 3d model of the car with their in house scanner. Jason was also saying they have equipment to do real world testing. But with as busy as they are it's no telling when it will be ready. The header has been in development for ages.

What would be great is something that connects to the rear subframe and runs to the rear bumper. For people with exhausts like the Invidia N1 and similar designs there is now just a big empty space there...

Seibon makes a piece but I have had no luck finding any installed pictures or any other information regarding functonality

I like the Chargespeed one, but it ought to extend further inward to go over the muffler and, you know, actually act as a diffuser and not a cosmetic piece. Also, I'm not in Japan so I can't affo'd dat $#!t!

The design i have in mind is similar to the CLEib, and rocket bunny but with four centerered fins. I sketched something out about a month ago ill see if i cant post it up.

I'm in for one for sure. Ive wanted one since I got the car. The STI hatch ones or even one similar to Cleib's car are what I had in mind personally.
