Bathurst Easter for the 86

Hi All,

I will be running the #86 86 at Bathurst for the Easter weekend... I believe entry to the Bathurst Festival of Speed is free so come and see us... We are happy to have fellow 86'rs in our pit garage... we are sharing with the guys from Bendigo Pedders and I have a coffee machine.. identify yourself as an 86'r and you are up for a coffee ... :)

Oh and if we happen to hit the mountain we might ask for the odd panel, engine etc: ... what a great weekend for the 86... Support pedders for a few laps around the track..

Prestige Auto Traders are backing us so if your in the market for a fast Euro ... they are the people !!! Yes I know.. shameless sponsor plug... if you liked that then DBA and Royal Purple are also on the list..

In any case come and look at the car... many mods of the hand made kind..

If you can't make it have a great time for Easter

@000 Racing - i'll be there for The Toyota 86 Experience by Bendigo Pedders along with some of my club members from NSW 86 BRZ Club. hunting for a place to stay a night, i think it's a 2 day event if i'm correct...

See you there!
:D

000 Racing 03-20-2013 06:36 AM

It's actually practice on the Friday and racing on Saturday...

Qualifying driver A and B on Sat, then race for driver A then later for B.. the finishing place for driver B will determine grid position for the Sunday Enduro..

Grant from Pedders and I are running out of the same pit garage... you will find the 86'rs in the main pit complex towards pit exit... come on down !!

Cappuccino 03-20-2013 07:09 PM

Chris I will be there Camera in hand... Won't be in the 86 though. Going to be taking the Cappuccino.

I will have to try and find you in the pits.

000 Racing 03-21-2013 05:26 PM

Excellent !! If there is an opportunity we are looking for a #86 & #68 photo finish :)

We will be towards the pit exit ... I am sure they will be obvious ... look forward to catching up.

We (both 86's) still don't have log books from CAMS as yet !!! It would appear our competition ... no names but they drive Integra's and BMW's do not want us in the field.. they have been lobbying CAMS to have us excluded from class C.. so far CAMS are listening and require a heap of measurements and stuff from the FIA..

They are being painful .... they need to make a decision today !!! Pedders and I have very expensive race cars with no class ... CAMS did suggest we go Production sports against Ferrari, Audi, Lotus and Porsche etc .... I mean really ??? WTF?

I will be on the phone to CAMS again shortly :(

Cappuccino 03-21-2013 07:58 PM

What are they lobbying about? They should be in the same class as the Intergras....Bunch of sore losers.

000 Racing 03-22-2013 02:59 AM

Just re measured the interior dimensions.. have to wait till Monday for more word..
Have to spend another 3k on another four tyres and some rims for the wets .. don't even know if we will get the log book as yet !!!

Are we having fun yet ... apparently motor sport has more to do with Parliament House than fun competition .. :)
Standby .....

Well they need to get themselves an 86 and join in the fun, not try to ban it :)

Or maybe they have one at home and know how good they are :D

Slip 03-22-2013 06:16 AM

That sucks for you guys!

Just one thing - try not to take it out on the office staff. I know first hand how dealing with competitors with their new cars can get a bit feisty at times. It used to be my job in the NSW CAMS office doing all of the logbooks for the state, although apparently now its all done from Melbourne.
If there is a hold up, I can be certain its coming from higher up.

Oh do I have stories - nearly always really bad, even about some on these very forums!

Hope it all works out for you. I for one want to see an 86 compete at Bathurst!

Unfortunately that's the way things have been going.
Thus the growth of AASA and AMSAG.

Hope they wake up to themselves and issue the log books. There's other 86 production cars being raced in Germany and the US, though I'm not sure it's under FIA rules.
I'm planning on getting a production car log book for mine, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks for the thoughts... I guess the problem is when they say they will call back.. and don't ... many times... then I had one person who gave me the tough luck response... then I pointed out to a senior person the ran and won the V3 series production class at the Nurbugring 24 hour.. the response was is that an FIA round ... I was a little surprised at that response ... then after ringing the CAMS President I got a fellow who was reasonable and I think want's to get it over the line per the rules of course.. so we will see Monday now ... it gives them a couple of days to get the book to me ... it will be close :iono:

All in all it some times get's too hard to make a decision ... but that's the job so I hope then go with us... I know of a few plans to track 86's ... the more the merrier !!!

Was that Andrew Papadopoulos? Before he was CAMS president, he worked on the NSW state advisory panel - he is a good guy, and sensible.

Another excellent person to talk with would be Michael Smith - the general manager of motor sport. He is a top bloke. Was my boss, and now has moved up to this role. He will listen and do what is right. He always did.

Good luck to you.

Given the fact that 86 and DC5 Intergra are of similar shape, size and power I'm still not understanding what the fuss is all about. Sounds like people are running scared of how well Toyota have developed the Chassis.

Well CAMS are issuing a temporary log book tomorrow ... cool a Tuesday issue and drive to Bathurst for Thursday ... plenty of time !!!

See you there .... confirmed :)

I'm desperate to watch this! Is it being televised? How does Natsoft work, is it only for results?
Are you guys going to mount a camera and post some video of the racing for us to watch?
Please!

After a revised pit garage allocation we .. the Production cars have for some reason been intermingled with Production sports ?? Why I do not know.. BUT the 86's are in Garage 7 in the main pit complex.. looking forward to meeting you..

Just got the car back with the War Paint..... looks great and should stand out in a crowd !!

PS.. If anyone is going up who has any old suspension arms etc.. and you don't want them or are happy to loan them if required I am happy to chat.. we have No spares .. and Bathurst can be cruel to any cars.. a few odd factory spares may help... I hope not to use any :(

Cheers Reevesy #86

PS: All of our rounds will be shown on TVS this year.. some outside and a lot of car cams .. should work well stand by for further after the race.. it will all be post produced and put into something entertaining.. The guys at DGB Media do a great job !!

I've got spare stock sway bars with stock brakes but I believe you have upgraded to the big brake package anyway.

000 Racing 03-26-2013 06:49 AM

As you suspected.. GTS rears and AP fronts.. Superpro bars.. Thanks for the offer though.. I am worried about bumping the rear or fronts for that matter and bending something ... 50 car grid and a lot of people in a hurry = ooops !!

:)

Chris - Your car looked sensational from the pics I saw and it looks like it ended the weekend in 1 piece.

Hard to tell from results alone if a driver is happy with the weekend so how was it?

Hey thanks for coming and having a look..

I think out of the box it was pretty good from a handling point.. we were flat from the cutting to Skyline which can be a little daunting and we did have a few fidgety moments so played with the rear tow in to settle things and played with the springload and bump rebound a little harder on the front and softer on the rear.. it felt pretty good at that speed.. when you consider we are running $1250- BC Racing shocks at present until we can look at Murray Cootes stuff !!

It was flat through the chase.. I couldn't get another bit out of it.. some very late braking helped us catch some of the others.. Anthony drove the last part of the enduro and he ducked under the Integra at Hell corner to pick another place by a bonnet !! and sideways :)

We have not had the car on a dyno, it still has header cats and we ran a bog standard air cleaner.. We will find more HP ... I know the Pedders guys spent some time on the Dyno and found 7 RWKW so there is hope for us yet... our tyres are still good to go for practice and qual in round two at Eastern Creek in three weeks (20 April I think).. feel free to say hello..

We have updated the triplezeroracing.com web site with some pics .. we will load up the race video in the next few days .. probably a link to a youtube upload..

All in all it was a very good weekend ... except for the hit in the arse coming out of the dipper ... it will buff out ... the Mazda won't !!!

Bauer 04-01-2013 05:38 AM

cheers Chris. Glad you were pleased.

I wasnt actually there. I only saw the pics on facebook and the results on Natsoft. Would have liked to have been there though.

What happened with the Mazda? Was that the MX5 that DNF'd?

000 Racing 04-01-2013 05:49 AM

Nope, a bloody 626 who does not realise that your not supposed to hit people .. don't know why he did ?? Anyway we ended a lap up on him and the other 86 .. head down over the next few days to find some power for EC... 10 RWHP is Ok but I am searching for 20 within the rules ... we have another enduro at EC .. it's my home track so I hope that helps.. must have done 30,000 laps over the last 10 years as a V8 Race coach so I will have no driver excuses :)

Car was looking good out there Chris! I have over 3000 pics to go through from the weekend.

I went past your pits Sunday morning to say Gday but you guys werent around then I spent the rest of the day snapping away! Will send you a link of the photos once there up (give me until at least Wednesday).

New paint scheme looks good out there too! One of the best looking cars on the circuit.

Also when is the meet at EC?

Hi Len, to be honest too scared to look coming into the chase but around 230 kph give or take.. we think with a better set up and a few mor HP and revs coming on we could get another 10 .. we will not know until next year..

I will put a Shift-i set of shift lights on the dash as the taco and speedo are just crap... I had trouble keeping on the 40 speed limit in pit lane..

I'm sorry about that .. we had a late start on the Sunday due to the later race.. must have just missed. Love to see the pics.. chat soon and the EC race is the weekend of the 20th April so only three weeks to get a fair bit done... NEED MORE POWER SCOTTY !!!!!
