H&R Super Sport Springs. My new found love.

I had my FRS slammed on BC BR coil overs. It was awesome on nice smooth pavement but kinda sucked driving on extremely bumpy roads or roads in trout dale/Gresham where I live and there are potholes that will tear off your exhaust. I sold my CoilOvers to a fellow FT86'er and picked up some H&R Super Sport Springs which @DarrenDriven installed today including whiteline front adjustable endlinks..........

Ever since the install ride quality has been greatly improved. The spring rates are softer and the stock struts seem to complement the H&R's. But at the same time the suspension is still stiff! Now i'm looking forwards to installing my Whiteline rear Endlinks + Ebach front+rear sway bar anti roll kit to finish my suspension.... If anyone is looking for a nice quality "lower" drop I would recommend this!

Pictures to come tomorrow.

P.s I've seen almost every lowering spring on the market now and love these!!!!

Thanks for the info!

How do these compare to swifts springs? Why did you choose these over them?

I had H&R and Swift springs on my 02 WRX. Loved the H&R! As for swift on a FRS/BRZ I have not yet seen this in person or been in the car. Compared to the other competitors I love these! It's a softer ride from my 8k/8k spring rates of my BC's but seems to be more performance orientated. There is way less bounce and the tires always seem to make contact to the pavement. The drop is also nice and subtle. Flushed out my car with little wheel gap. Installation of way more suspension bits on sat and alignment comes next week on monday after the springs settle a bit.

Comparison between H&R vs BC BR's. My BC BR's felt awesome in smooth pavement and I felt swaybars+strutbars would be overkill. With the H&R's I feel when I install my swaybars+Strutbars it's going to refine the suspension and improve it rather then induce large amounts of oversteer and wheel bounce.

In for pics! Interested in these springs..does the package come with new bumpstops or had to cut the oem ones?

How do the H&R springs compare to the eibach springs??

H&R recommends you cut about 1/2" off the OEM bumpstops during the install.

NickFRS 03-13-2013 04:18 PM

The Super Sport Springs recommend you cut .75in off your current bump stops. The super sports offer a lower drop but ride is very similar. I wanted more of a drop so I went with H&R. Pictures will come today!

I'm thinking about buying the same springs, so your timing on this thread couldnt be any better! Even better that they're carried and supported by Perrin which is less than a mile from my new home.

You going to the Sykart Tigard meet? I would love to see them in person since I will be there! Until then, drooling for pics!

NickFRS 03-19-2013 03:06 AM

Woa got blown up! Got a bunch more suspension bits on and got the final alignment today with me in the car.... holy crap its a gokart now!!! I'll have pictures posted tomorrow for sure for you guys. Wanted to get the alignment done first and they were booked till today.

You guys make it sound like he is the first one to ever have H&R Super Sport springs. I think I was the first one to get them like 5 months ago. Here are some pics:

Haha sorry man. Is this "settled" or are you expecting more of a drop than that?

I don't remember how long they had been on when I took those pics, but the car still looks about the same to me.

SMOKETREES 03-20-2013 06:51 PM

What wheels size you running? 17's?

panoy86 03-20-2013 08:18 PM

Looks like you only have sports. Not the Super Sports.... Doesn't look like yours dropped as much as mine o.0

Could be they didn't settle 100%. A bulk of the settling happens in a few days. But it can take several weeks to get the last few millimeters to settle.

Could also be the overall diameter of your wheels+tires is greater than his and fill in more of your wheel wells.

I don't have the sports, but thanks for telling me what I bought. Just because you bought the wrong size tires, doesn't mean the drop is any different:

http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-...5R17/235-45R17

Your tires are .35 inches taller than the factory tires.

Kinzo 03-25-2013 05:18 PM

What size are those wheels?

Someone said he had 18's. In which case it's logical to assume they were not Super Sports because he would be tucking almost.

This is one of the most idiotic statements I have read. I was unaware that 18"s = "tucking almost". Where were you taught logic? I, like most performance enthusiasts, like to maintain as close to OEM overall wheel diameter as possible. When you increase the size of your wheel, you decrease the size of the sidewall of your tire a similar amount. This keeps your speedometer and traction control systems happy. When some random on the Internet tells me that I don't know what I bought, I call them out on it.

I purchased my H&R Super Sports from Tire Rack back in September 2012. I can provide a picture of the box if you would like. My wheels and tires are:

WedsSport TC105N 18x8 +42 TS Titan Wheels
Michelin Pilot Super Sport 245/35/18 Tires

Yeah, not a logical assumption dude. You need to consider overall diameter (wheels + tires).
