How much should it be to install springs?
I am looking to get springs (ideally STI 'pink' springs for less than what japanparts charges).
I am just wondering how much should I expect to pay to install springs? I am in Vancouver and am just wondering what a typical cost is? Specialty Cars in North Vancouver quoted $150 per wheel - I assume this represents the high end of the range? Thanks!! |
There is a thread on this I believe. And I'm pretty sure that sounds about right I think some people got quoted more.

Approx $250-$300 at tuner shops
|
You are talking about the suspension spring right? $150 per wheel? That would be $600 to install springs.. Wow that is freaking expensive. I'd say the general price is $200-$300.
|
$600 is way too much, shop around. $200-300 is what i've paid on a couple of my old cars.
|
I got quoted 2-2.5 hours of labour for springs.. when I did mine, ill find my receipt on the exact price.

I would say roughly a 2-3 hr job depending if they know their way around the twins. 90ish bucks an hour for labour Did Speciality also factor in alignment or something cause that's crazy. Btw are you a North Van guy? I see quite a few around there now. |
it cost me 170, 2 hours @ 85 at garage five in richmond.
|
Thanks guys. I thought $600 was way to much.
Anybody know where to buy them other than japanparts.com? |

$400~1,000 optionjdm.com nextmod.com import from usa To INSTALL $200-300 PS there's a vendor section on the forums |
on this car, a spring install with proper tools and a lift should take NO MORE than 2 hours.
Add another hour for alignment. at a rate of 90.00 (and that's usually a dealer's rate) your install should not cost you more than 180.00 or 270 with alignment. but that's my personal belief, which is why i stay away from shops. |
other than installing springs, what's another alternative to lower the car?

You can check GarageFive. They are in Richmond. I believe there are a few of these parts stores in Richmond but they aren't cheap. You are better off ordering online from USA. BTW check RS. Maybe you'll find some local groupbuys/sales there. |

Its not difficult to do the springs particularly on a new car, its up to how handy you feel and if you have the right tools and it doesn't take any special tools to do it (except spring compressor which you can rent). I'm just gettin too old and too outta shape to be bothered to do it myself. |

http://darklygaming.com/forum/styles...ies/badass.png a coilover is anything where a spring, or coil, is placed over the damper unit. http://darklygaming.com/forum/styles...lies/story.png semantics aside the dude wants a cheap alternative, but there are no alternatives you can cut springs or put on a wheel+tire combo with an overall lower diameter, but these are hardly alternatives.. more like last ditch efforts. http://www.darklygaming.com/images/dealwithit.png |
Lowering springs are your cheapest option for lowering your car. I'd personally save up some and just get some cheap coilovers.
Cutting your springs on a brand new FR-S? You will go down in history as one of the biggest idiots on this forum. Hall of shame will feature you for life. |
Smaller wheels and tires haha might loeer you a bit won't look good tho
Glad you didn't get scammed miniguy |
