M7 Japan T-Titan Catback Exhaust

As with everyone looking for an exhaust, many factors come into place. A main priority for me was sound so I spend some time listening to sound clips online figuring out what I wanted. One that stood out was the M7 Japan T-Titan Catback Exhaust. I stopped by Source, a local vendor, who had the exhaust in stock. I was able to feel how light it was as well as see the quality of the welds and the adjustable titanium tip in person and was sold. They gave me a great price and helped me get it installed right away and couldn’t be happier with the quality of the exhaust, the sound, and the service received. Here are a few pics and a video.

Props on spending $1600 on an exhaust! Haven't heard of M7 Japan before, but looks like a quality piece

So throaty

thanks for the review

Subie 01-23-2013 10:20 PM

How loud is it in person? Does it drone?

Kuzuri 01-23-2013 10:32 PM

WANT. Sounds so good man!

mswhong 01-23-2013 11:23 PM

Loving the sounds.. now what I (and I think I speak for the majority of people here) need next is some dyno sheets :):)

just86 01-23-2013 11:32 PM

Sounds like subi rumble, uel headers

I would say it's neither loud nor quiet, it's somewhere in the middle. Only time I wish it was quieter was cold start ups in the mornings, but quiets up a lot once warmed up. You can stay in a high gear with low rpm and be quiet while cruising around town, but open it up in higher RPM you can definitely hear it fill the cabin. There really isn't noticeable drone, just the natural exhaust note you would expect at that RPM range.

Check out this video clip of the exhaust!

M7 Titanium -Stainless full catalytic-back exhaust system on the Beatsonic Scion FRS.
Very easy install, pretty quiet at idle. Overall a really nice system!

No part of it was really heavy, and the main canisters are small and really fits well with 3 points for adjustments.
And with muffler systems, weight is not much of a concern when things are a within a couple of kilograms.
This is because the weight difference at the position so low in the car will not affect handling much at all.
As long as its lighter than stock, which by the way is already really light to start with, it's fine. More important to be less of a spec-head and be a an avid driver.
It's a bit raspy in noise for an AT car like this one, but the soul of the FRS is right there, revealing the hint of the trademark FA20 boxer that should sound like no other Subaru sourced engine with passion for high revs.

CrazyWookiee 01-29-2013 09:29 PM

Looks great. The sound is top notch. Definitely be my choice if I had the bank.

JETRED 02-22-2013 01:07 AM

The noise this thing makes....:bow::wub:
I'd like to hear some cruising speed and highway driving sound levels. I know you mentioned above that there isn't much drone but I'd like to know how living with it for a month has been; cruising around; daily driving. I know Chi-town cops don't fancy loud exhausts...

I don't have any cruising videos right now but maybe I'll find some time to make one. So far I've had no cop trouble with this exhaust. I feel like it has gotten quieter once broken in but it might just be me getting used to it. Exhausts like this usually come with a silencer for daily driving so I was a bit surprised that it didn't come with one at first. It really doesn't need it after getting used to it.

Noob4Life 02-23-2013 09:38 AM

First I was like "I gotz to have dis!"

Then I looked at the price... O.o

Really want this. Yeah need more vids to make my mind up lol

akahenry 10-09-2013 04:21 PM

Yeah I really want this exhaust as well but for the price and the lack of videos on the web, I can't justify spending over $1.5k. I'd rather get something like an Ark DT-S or Ark GRiP.

you're the guy on youtube right? SO sorry it took so long to get back to you. I've been super backed up with studying and trying to startup a small vinyl sticker business. Hit me up with PM with your contact info and i'll forward it to M7 for you. They will be in touch.

Here's a video of an install on my car. I really owe Rob @ M7 and Young @ FRS86 a huge debt for the hook up and the opportunity to represent both companies. I also got the panel filter installed at the same time. The throttle lag that I hated on rev match down shifts is hardly noticeable now (whether that's due to the butt dyno effect or free-er revving is up to you to decide). I definitely feel a slight bump in power. Also... I had a friend of mine, Mr. Joon Maeng... put the car through it's paces... and he said it was the quickest FRS he's driven so far (must be a lot of stock FRS's he's driven then haha). Fit and finish... second to none. I've worked with Amuse, Tommy Kaira, MCR, you name it... best of the best exhausts... and this is right up there. Sound... best you're gonna get out of a 2.0 flat four without adding F/I. And the best part... 6th gear, 3000rpm... dead quiet. I really want to do a full review to do the guys justice who helped me get this on my car. AND it comes with silencers btw!

I'm planning on either getting this exhaust system or the Ark DT-S system for my 14 BRZ model.

it's a little raspy when cold / when breaking it. but videos don't carry bass notes too well. It's actually really tame but throaty when you get on it.

WhiteRose 11-05-2013 03:14 AM

@Godzilla35 is a personal friend of mine and I heard his car in person. It's like music to your ears when you hear it on the hwy

@OmegaKnight I bought my exhaust solely based of the sound in your videos plus m7 is a race influenced company. Lol thanks man.

Also Topgearsolutions.com has a great deal on this system and I got mine within a week. Awesome customer service too.

Can't go wrong with m7 t titan cat back especially with the power gains I got

Wow.. +8hp +10tq from just bolt on?

Kakawate 11-06-2013 12:52 AM

Yeah the numbers don't lie no other mods a completely stock car. I'm surprised how much torque I have.

akahenry 01-02-2014 04:05 AM

How's the exhaust holding up? I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on buying these in three days, since I recently got my BRZ.

WhiteRose 01-02-2014 05:21 AM

The exhaust are holding up well I can vouch for him because I hang out with my friend who has them everyday. The cold start is a bit loud but when he heats up its good. There's almost no droning and the sound is amazing. I've seen them in person and might I say one of the best titanium built exhaust I have seen for the frs besides the tommy kairas and the amuse exhausts

You might want to rethink on the arks because they are actually quite heavy. Heavier than stock

I think I've talked to you before akahenry lol

I've had M7 catback on a brz for couple of months now and it's great.
Expensive? yes. Worth it? ABSOLUTELY.
I could only wish I could sit you in my car and show you how it sounds in real-person. :)

And where did you come up with 1.5k? Even with installation m7 catback is not gonna cost you that much..

Sorry to point this out but M7 catback is NOT a titanium built exhaust (partly yes).

Only part of titanium is the two tips, other than that they're all SS.

I can careless about weight lol. It's not like I'm going to track the car every day or make it a race car...etc. I'm just looking for something that sounds GREAT and I think this cat back sounds fucking great, not to mention it's aesthetically beautiful. Also, I'm looking for something that's not drone-y and performs well on the daily drive.

I can honestly tell you from sitting in my friend's fr-s it's not drone'y in the cabin at all. It's almost close to zero. It's amazing how it sounds as well (: you won't regret the decision
