Stoptech Sport Brake Kit
 

I recently purchaced and had my Stoptech brake kit installed and noticed that there is an excessive amount of brake pedal travel over stock. I am using Motul 600 brake fluid and the system was bled 6 times. Anyone else notice this or have this type of issue?

Is the pedal endpoint still firm? If it is, then the increased pedal travel may be secondary to the master cylinder being too small for the larger calipers?

calipers are OEM, the kit replaces the brake lines, rotors, and pads

Maybe the pads are higher temp? I remember the first time I did a pad change I went too aggressive and they were not as good cold but rock hard when warmed up.

What do you consider excessive? Is there any noise or anything that would point to shims not being installed?

Flip the calipers let to right if the bleeder is at the bottom

If the pedal changed and the calipers were not changed, then it is due to an improper flushing/bleeding of the system. We've been installing brakes for 12 years and we've fixed so many "installs" over the years.

Hard to actually put a number on it or comparison, all I have to compare the new lines, pads, rotors, and fluid is the stock set up.
The stock set up was very responsive and took very little pressure on the pedal for the brakes to engage and grab, now it feels like the travel and pressure required to get the brakes to engage has at least doubled.
Once the brakes grab they are very strong and do not feel spongey, if i pump the pedal twice then the brakes grab quickly(much closer to stock feel).

How much have you driven it? A brand new set of pads/rotors will initially feel pretty bad until you use them a few times. You should bed them in too.

bed them in? sorry, never really have had performance brakes... i havent driven on them very long. :(

It is also VERY dependent on What order you Bled... You should always do the farthest away from the MC first down to the shortest..

True, but the lines are parallel/linked.

As Scooby South said it is actually VERY important to do them in the correct order. Even though they may appear parallel or linked in your mind, there is a very good reason why the repair/maintenance manuals give an order in which they need to be flushed/bled.

Note the order; Subaru has a diagonal ABS link so front right/rear left are on the same ABS channel...which is the proper order.

While that may be the case for the Impreza, I'm not sure this is correct for our cars. Isn't it supposed to be?:

Right Rear
Left Rear
Right Front
Left Front

This is how I've bled mine, and have had zero problems with my braking system.

Should be the same system. I'll check my FSM after dinner. The furthest wheel from the MC thing is true for most cars, especially older cars; not trying to diminish anyone's contributions or anything.

EDIT: Of course I don't have the whole BRZ manual and of the full FR-S manual I have that's the section I can't find/I'm missing.
